ROBERT E. WEATHERHOLT
CUMBERLAND - Robert E. Weatherholt, 39, of Frederick Street, Cumberland, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at his residence as a result of a fire.
Born Feb. 14, 1960, in Cumberland, he was the son of Joan L. (VanMeter) Weatherholt, Potomac Park, and the late William E. Weatherholt. He also was preceded in death by a paternal step-grandfather, Robert Leasure; and maternal grandparents, Norman and Belva VanMeter.
Mr. Weatherholt was a self-employed artist and owner of Rob's Sign Shop and an employee of Wampler Foods, Moorefield, W.Va. He was a member of Cresaptown Eagles 2883 and Western Maryland Republican Club.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sisters, Jackie Shaffer and husband Mike, Ellerslie, and Wanda Holtschneider and husband Keith, Cumberland; paternal grandparents, Ellen Leasure and Sherman Weatherholt, both of Cumberland; two nieces, Wendy Davis and Brittany Holtschneider; and two nephews, Jeffrey Davis Jr. and Brandon Davis.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold McClay Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Davis Jr., Brandon Davis, Keith Holtschneider, Dwight Umberger, William VanMeter and Michael VanMeter.
Following the interment service, friends and family are invited for a luncheon in the Marilyn Room at Shooters, Potomac Park.
ZOLA "TEAB" SHRINER
MOUNT SAVAGE - Zola "Teab" Shriner, 82, of Mount Savage, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 7, 1916, at Six Mile Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Susie (Skipper) O'Neal.
Mrs. Shriner was a member of Mount Savage United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, M. Donald Shriner; one son, Donald J. Shriner and wife, Janet, Ellerslie; two daughters, Charolotte Murphy and husband, Frederick, Mount Savage, and Darlene Murphy and husband, Steven, Mount Savage; six grandsons, D. Wayne Shriner, David Shriner, Frederick Murphy Jr. and wife, Patty Sue, Ivan Murphy and wife, Rebecca, Billy and Jamie Murphy; three great-grandchildren, Lonica, Lacey and Matthew Murphy; one brother, Bacil O'Neal, Loraine, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Savage Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.

ROSEANNE SHUTTLEWORTH
CUMBERLAND - Roseanne Shuttleworth, 72, of Gephart Drive, Cumberland, died suddenly Thursday, May 27, 1999, at her residence.
Born Sept. 28, 1926, in Nutter Fort, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Guy Allen Shuttleworth and Rosa Anne Kester Shuttleworth. She was preceded in death by her aunts, Lulu Shuttleworth White and Harriet Shuttleworth Cunningham; and a brother, Jack Carr Shuttleworth.
A lifelong resident of Harrison County, W.Va., until moving to Cumberland in 1985, Ms. Shuttleworth had been an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg. She attended the Academy of the Visitation, Mount de Chantal in Wheeling, W.Va., before graduating from Washington-Irving High School in 1945. She graduated in 1949 from West Virginia University with a B.A. in English and History, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was recently inducted into the WVU Emeritus Club.
Ms. Shuttleworth was employed as Credit Manager for Montgomery-Ward, District Accountant and subsequently Auditor for the West Virginia State Road Commission, and then Office Manager and Secretary-Treasurer of the Josephs Remodeling Company.
In West Virginia, Ms. Shuttleworth was active politically, having served on the Harrison County GOP Executive Committee, was president of the Young Republican Club, held various offices in the Republican Woman's Club, and was elected to the State Republican Executive Committee from the 13th Senatorial District. She was active with the Heaart Fund, United Fund, Cancer Crusade, and served as the on-site operations manager for the Humane Society's animal shelter, having volunteered there for many years.
Since relocating to Cumberland, Ms. Shuttleworth had been an active volunteer with a number of civic and charitable organizations. She was a Life Member of the Allegany County Historical Society, having joined in 1985. There she served for several years on the Board of Directors, including a term as President, the Society's pivotal heating/cooling/climate control project, conducted under the auspices of the Maryland Historic Trust, was completed at 'History House' at 218 Washington St., Cumberland. She was active in the Cumberland Branch of the American Red Cross, having served as registrar for blood drives, office volunteer, member of the Blood Services Committee, and member of the Board of Directors from 1991 to 1994. Ms. Shuttleworth had been an active member of the Women's Civic Club Inc. in Cumberland and served on the House Committee. She was a member of Cresap Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution since 1988, and served the chapter in various capacities, notably as committee chairman in charge of the George Washington's Cabin Headquarters, whose attractions, enhanced and promoted under her supervision, have resulted in a greatly augmented local interest and tourism in recent years. At the time of her death, she was serving her second consecutive term as Regent of the chapter. She was serving, as well, a term as Maryland State Society DAR Chairman of the Friends of the (DAR) Library Committee.
Surviving are a sister, Martha Shuttleworth Nokes, Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Edwin Allen Shuttleworth, Nutter Fort, W.Va.; a half-sister, Jacqueline Billie Shuttleworth Wynn, Camp Hill, Pa.; a daughter, Ellen Ann Haught, Clover, S.C.; and a granddaughter, Farrah Ann Ford, Clover, S.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday, June 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted there on Wednesday, June 2, at noon, with the Rev. Dr. O. Morton Harris Jr. officiating.
The committal service will be Thursday, June 3, at the Elk View cemetery in Clarksburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cresap Chapter DAR (care of Flora Lease, 912 Weires Ave., LaVale, MD) for the DAR Good Citizens Awards program (awards are given each year to graduating seniors from each of the participating local high schools).
LORETTA C. WHETSTONE
FROSTBURG - Loretta C. Whetstone, 86, of Frostburg, died on Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 13, 1912, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Canning) Callery. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Whetstone and her brother, John Callery.
Mrs. Whetstone was employed by Truly Candy for 35 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and since 1966 she was a member of CD of A, 3rd Order of St. Francis. She was a special "Mom Mom" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters: Elsie Adams and husband, David, Frostburg and Sandra Lilly and husband, Joseph, Baltimore; six grandchildren: Cynthia Adams, David Adams Jr., Cathy Zegles and Brad Adams; and Don Fatkin and Andy Fatkin; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Mary McGinnis, Florida; Anna Clarke, Baltimore, and Margaret Jane Russell, New Freedom, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main Street, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Michael's Church with the Rev. Father William E. Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael's School.
HARRY D. TRANUM
RAWLINGS - Harry D. Tranum, age 78, of Rawlings, passed away Friday, July 9, 1999, at his residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1921, in Kitzmiller, he was a son of the late Grover and Helen (Spiker) Tranum.
Mr. Tranum was a Correctional Supervisor and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife Mary "Cass" (Paugh) Tranum; one son, Floyd Paugh, Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Deanna Edgell and Helen Ressley, both of Lancaster, Ohio; one sister, Madeline Michaels, Cresaptown; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The body is at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Edward Dickel officiating.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
JAMES T. WHITE
CUMBERLAND - James Thomas White, 90, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 5, 1909, in Midland, he was the son of the late John T. and Bridget (Byrne) White. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Boyd) White, in May 1989. She was the daughter of the late Judge A. Hunter Boyd, who was Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals.
Mr. White attended St. Patrick's School. He graduated in 1928 from the LaSalle Institute, Cumberland, having been class president for four years. He also attended Catherman's Business School at night.
He was employed by the Times and Alleganian Co. He was a printer, and later promoted to Circulation Manager. He retired in 1974, with approximately 50 years service.
He was a life-long member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, he also belonged to the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was an associate member of the S.S.N.D.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth White, Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Edenhart, and Mrs. John F. Powell, both of Cumberland; one nephew whom they reared, Donald Evick and wife, Marie, Rockville; among several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ms. Terry McLarney.
There will be no viewing.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.
