JOAN G. SIGEL
CUMBERLAND - Joan G. Sigel, 111 N. Chase St., Cumberland, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at her residence.
She was born in Cumberland, the daughter of the late Simon and Gertrude Kochman.
Mrs. Sigel is also preceded in death by her husband, David Sigel; and a daughter, Barbara Schreier.
She was a member of the Cumberland Country Club, Ber Chayim Synagogue, and the Cumberland Chapter of Hadassah.
She was also an avid golfer and Bridge player, and volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Sigel is survived by one son, Martin B. "Marty" Sigel, Baltimore; her son-in-law, Steve Schreier, Stamford, Conn.; one grandaughter, Deborah Leipzig, Manhattan, N.Y.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the East View cemetery with Leonard Schwab officiating.
The famly requests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland.
RAYMOND E. SILBAUGH
FRIENDSVILLE - Raymond Eugene "Todd" Silbaugh, 71, of 277 Maple St., Friendsville, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at his residence.
Born July 23, 1928, in Selbysport, he was the son of the late Albert and Bessie Marie (Artice) Silbaugh. He also was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Terry Youmans.
Mr. Silbaugh was a retired sawyer for Coddington Lumber Co., and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Ilene P. (Glass) Silbaugh; one step-son, Rodney Youmans, Grantsville; one step-daughter, Donna Wendt, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; one sister, Betty Coddington, Loch Lynn; and two step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Dawson officiating.
Interment will be in the Steele Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
RUDOLPH VIZZA
ECKHART - Rudolph "Rudy" Vizza, 80, of St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center, formerly of Eckhart, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 27, 1919, in Morantown, he was the son of the late Carmen and Emma (Sween) Vizza. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Vizza in 1997; one daughter, Debbie Vermeule in 1996; and one sister, Caroline Lennox in 1990.
Mr. Vizza was retired after 30 years from Kaiser Refractories, Zihlman. He was Methodist by denomination. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three daughters; Marlene Tull, Wheaton, Cathy Schurg and husband, Gary, Vale Summit, and Janice Vizza, Cumberland; one son, Eric Vizza, Frostburg; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Tull, Jamie Tull, Rebecca (Schurg) Clark, Brian Schurg, Joe Vizza and Brandon Vermeule; one brother, Alfred Vizza, Frostburg; and two sisters, Gertrude Edington, Salt Lake City, and Angela Heller, LaVale.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24.
Contributions may be directed to the Intensive Care Unit, Western Maryland Health System at Sacred Heart Hospital.
MELVIN R. SIMMONS
CUMBERLAND - Melvin Ray Simmons, 59, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born on Oct. 2, 1939, in Hedricks, W.Va., he was the son of the late Frank and Goldie (Eckard) Simmons. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorthy (Simmons) Hare.
Mr. Simmons worked at the German Brewery until they closed. He then went to work for H&B; Maintenance until 1989 when he retired due to his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Delores A. (Brailer) Simmons of 29 years; three sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Lily Nestor, Hambleton, W.Va., Mr. and Mrs. Lillian Mick, Philippi, W.Va., the Rev. Mark and Mary Riley, Pa.; two step-daughters, Margeret Steirmetz and husband Abner, Cumberland; Diane Chapman and her late husband Gary, Sykesville; one step-son, John Minke and wife Renee, Cumberland; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
At Mr. Simmons request his body was donated for research and there will be no services held.
JEFFREY E. WHITE
OAKLAND - Jeffrey Everett White, age 36, of Oakland, formerly of Kitzmiller, passed away Sunday, July 11, 1999, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born July 21, 1962, in Oakland, he was a son of William and Carma (Bray) White, Kitzmiller.
Jeff was employed at the Mettiki Coal Company.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (Savage) White; one son, Joshua; and one daughter, Stephanie Marie, both at home; one brother, W. James White, Kitzmiller; and one sister, Ruth Oliverio, Oakland.
The body is at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Kitzmiller, with the Rev. Donald Matthews and the Rev. Meredith Ball officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
EDNA B. THOMPSON
CUMBERLAND - Edna B. Thompson, 79, of Blackiston Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at the Cumberland Nursing Center, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 20, 1920 in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Erastus and Bertha Barnhart Faith. She also was preceded in death by her first husband Irvin R. Shives who died in 1962; her second husband James Thompson who died in 1995; one grandson William Rice Jr.; two sisters and ten brothers.
Mrs. Thompson was formerly a waitress for Sheehe's Restaurant, Cumberland, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc., Hancock.
Surviving are one daughter, Shirley A. Rice, Cumberland; one sister, Rita Unger, Hancock; one brother, Ralph Faith, California; two grandchildren, Diana Martin and Keith Rice; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc., Hancock, Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc., Hancock, with the Bishop K. Paul Bowers and Advance Presiding Elder Timmy Strait officiating.
Interment will be in the adjoining Mount Olivet cemetery at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc.
