FRANCES D. "FRANNIE" WARD
BALTIMORE - Frances D. "Frannie" (Lloyd) Ward, 36, of Baltimore, formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, July 10, 1999, at Harbor General Hospital, Baltimore.
She was born at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, a daughter of Joseph B. Lloyd, Baltimore, and Delores Crockett, Baltimore.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas A. Ward; and dear mother of Heather D. Howes, at home. She is also survived by two sisters, Patty Hammett, Baltimore, Cheryl Metcalf, Cumberland; two brothers, Joey Lloyd and Freddie Lloyd, both of Baltimore; her paternal grandmother, Annie E. Lloyd, Cumberland; and several uncles, aunts and cousins in the Cumberland area.
Funeral services were conducted at the George J. Gonce Funeral Home, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, Baltimore, on Tuesday, July 13, 1999.
ELEANOR L. SIMPSON
CUMBERLAND - Eleanor Louise Simpson, 72, of 11315 Gnegy Lane, Cumberland, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 21, 1927, at Cherry Run, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late James Andrew Michael and the late Vallie Loretta (Rankin) Michael.
Mrs. Simpson was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell A. Simpson; two sons, Royce D. Simpson and wife Joyce D. of Cumberland and Elvin M. Simpson of Mesa, Ariz.; and two daughters, Joyce L. McDonald and husband John of York, Pa., and Connie R. Zazakos and husband Christopher, M.D., of Charlottesville, Va. She also is survived by two brothers, Gerald Michael and wife Lola, Cumberland, and Glendon Michael and wife Shirley of Cumberland; one sister, Leona Rice and husband Glenn of Cumberland; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dennis A. Michael officiating.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
JEFFERY B. SIMPSON
CUMBERLAND - Jeffery Brian Simpson, 38, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 23, 1961, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John Simpson Jr. and Yvonne Simpson.
Surviving are three special friends, Patty Brooks and Jimmy and Joyce Wolfe; two step-daughters, Mandy Duckworth and husband Eric, Wiley Ford, and Christy McMillan, Short Gap; one step-son, John McMillan and wife Donna, Keyser; three brothers, John Simpson III, Jason Simpson, and James Simpson; one sister, Joan Simpson; and six step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wolfe, Bill Hauger, Henry Frame, Bobby Baker and Gary Mae.
MELODY J. WILLIAMS
CUMBERLAND - Melody Jane Williams, 17, of Cumberland, entered into Eternity on Nov. 5, 1999. Melody was the daughter of Alan and Barbara Jean (Walther) Williams, and was accompanied from this earth by her sister, Lauren.
Her life was bright with promise and accomplishment as she grew toward adulthood. Her talents and skills made her a leader among her peers. She had a deeply held belief in the existence of God.
Melody loved and cherished her family and her friends from Fort Hill High School, and her co-workers at County Market. Her absence from our lives is an ache that only time and love can heal.
In addition to her parents, she is mourned by her step-mother, Erin (Shanahan) Williams; her cousins, Michael Walther, Chris and Shannon Walther, Nathan and Nicholas Williams; her Uncle Martin and Aunt Marilyn Walther; her Uncle John and Aunt Kathy Walther; her Uncle David Williams; her Aunt Mary Aleta Williams; her Aunt Susan Boyles; and her Uncle Scott Williams; her grandparents, Jim and Harriet Williams, of Frostburg; and her great-great-aunt, Genevieve Williams.
A memorial service for Melody and her sister, Lauren, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 11 Washington St., Cumberland, Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at 7 p.m. with the Dr. O. Morton Harris presiding.
Friends and well-wishers will be received by the family in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
Expressions of sympathy should take the form of contributions to the Lauren and Melody Williams Fund, c/o the Trust Department, F & M Bank, Cumberland.
A private burial will be conducted at Porter's Cemetery, Eckhart.

MARY M. SITES
CUMBERLAND - Mary Martha Sites, 75, of Valley Road N.E., Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at her residence.
Born Aug. 24, 1924, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late John and Pearle (Crowe) King. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Bob" Sites in June of 1998; and four brothers, Raymond J. King, Gregory A. King, Charles T. King and Francis D. King.
Mrs. Sites was formerly employed at the Sherwin Williams Paint Store, the National Jet Company, and at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company during World War II when they manufactured ammunition.
Mrs. Sites was Catholic by faith. She was a member of the Old Rail Post 6025 Ladies' Auxiliary, Mount Savage, Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion Auxiliary, Cumberland, Bowman's Addition Fire Department Auxiliary, and a charter member of the Flower League Bowling Club, Cumberland.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Sites, San Francisco, Calif., and Jeffrey Sites, Cumberland; one grandson, Dalyn Sites, Cresaptown; one sister, Helen Conway, Mount Savage; three brothers, Edward King, George E. King, both of Mount Savage, and Vincent King, Cumberland; one sister-in-law, Helen Morgan, Westernport; three brothers-in-law, Pug Sites, Tallahasse, Fla., Charles Sites and wife Sally, Finzel, and Raymond Sites and wife Rita, Catonsville; a special friend, Doris Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Pallbearers will be Edward Izzett, Billy Poorbaugh, Jim King, Marty Conway, Joe Conway and Pat King.
JAMES M. SKELLEY
CRESAPTOWN - James Melvin Skelley, 88, of Cresptown, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 23, 1911, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John and Lottie (Chilcott) Skelley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Genevieve (Stottlemyer) Skelley, in 1985; one daughter, Doris Jean Wolford; three brothers, William "Bill" Skelley, Carl Skelley, Vincent Skelley; and four sisters, Mary Coddington, Catherine Skelley, Rosalie Mitch, and Alice Skelley.
Mr. Skelley was a retired heavy machine operator in construction and a member of the local teamsters 453. He enjoyed delivering his firewood to many homes in the area and he will be greatly missed being seen in his garden in the spring.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Schmidt and husband, Richard, Lake Placid, Fla., Bonnie Lynn Horchler and husband, Jack, Whitehouse, Texas; one son, James R. Skelley, Cumberland; three sisters, Viola Twigg, Mildred Douthitt, and Ethel Howsare, all of Cresaptown; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr., officiating.
Interment will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Cresaptown.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, James "Jim" Horchler, Steve Wayne Horchler, Mark Schmidt, Richard Schmidt, David Schmidt, and Bobby Hite.
