KENNETH D. WEAVER
CUMBERLAND - Kenneth Dale Weaver, 53, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Cumberland, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Oct. 15, 1946, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John and Effie (Foster) Weaver. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Weaver, in 1998; one son, Kenneth C. Armstrong; and two brothers, Ellis Weaver and Paul Weaver.
Mr. Weaver was a U.S. Army veteran and head of maintenance for the LaVale Fire Department for 20 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra J. Tharp and husband, Donald, Belinda L. Barnes and husband, Bruce, all of Martinsburg, W.Va., Jean Ann Sites, Ridgeley, W.Va.; one son, Joseph J. Armstrong, Levittown, Pa.; three sisters, Sharon Blacker and husband, Joey, Mary "Sis" Wilkins, Tina Youngblood and husband, Gene, all of Cumberland; four brothers, Edward E. Weaver and wife, Sherrill, Sacramento, Calif., Larry D. Weaver and wife, Roberta, Hagerstown, Jeff Weaver and wife, Cheryl, Dennis Weaver, all of Cumberland; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. John R. Herbst, officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
JULIA R. WEAVER (GEBHART)
FROSTBURG - Julia R. Weaver, 78, of 8 Taylor St., Frostburg, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 10, 1921, in McSherrystown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Pete and Louise (Wireman) Gebhart. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Weaver, on Nov. 5. 1996.
Mrs. Weaver was a former employee of Kline Furniture Company, Frostburg, and was retired as a housekeeper from St. Michael's Rectory. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Church Sodality, and Farrady Post No. 24 American Legion.
Surviving are three sons, Michael A. Weaver, Short Gap, W.Va., Patrick F. Weaver, Frostburg, Terry L. Weaver, and wife, Mary Lou, Oakland; and four granddaughters, Christina Weaver, Michelle Weaver, Stephanie Weaver, and Corinne Weaver.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Msgr. John L. Reinsfelder as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
The family requests that contributions be made to the St. Michael's School.

GAY T. SMITH
CRESAPTOWN - Gay T. Smith, 85, of Cresaptown, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1913, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Effie (Harrison) Turben. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Smith, on April 8, 1969; one brother, William Turben; and two sisters, Arbutus Wamsley and Kathryn Miller.
Mrs. Smith retired from the Celanese Corporation with 40 years' service, where she had been a jet cleaner.
She attended Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses, Cumberland.
Survivors include her step mother, Wilda Turben, Frostburg; three brothers, Melvin Turben, U.S. Air Force (retired), Washington, Harry Turbin, U.S. Air Force (retired), California, and Wade Turben, Kalamazoo, Mich.; six sisters, Miss Mary Turbin, Cumberland, Mrs. Beulah Ross, LaVale, Mrs. Farrell Maddox, Baltimore, Mrs. Carl Skidmore, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Mrs. Dennis Longwell, Afton, N.Y., and Helen Harper, Westernport; Special Friends, Mr. & Mrs. Walter R. Bosley, Cumberland, and several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Smith's request, her body is being cremated.
A memorial service, followed by interment at Hillcrest Burial Park, will be announced at a later date.

GENEVIEVE SCHAFFER
FLINTSTONE - Genevieve Y. Schaffer, of Flintstone, died Monday, May 10, 1999, in Memorial Hospital.
Born in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Custer) Yonker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weber Schaffer; and a son, Kurt Manfred Schaffer.
Mrs. Schaffer attended Flintstone United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army-Marines prior to World War II, and she was retired from the Department of Interior as an attorney. She was a graduate of Frostburg State University, the George Washington University, University of Maryland (College Park), and the American University Law School. Mrs. Schaffer was a member of Zonta International, a life long member of the American Legion, a member of the Bar Association, the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization, and was an officer of the Flintstone Episcopal Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Adair "Kippy" Schaffer, Athens, Ohio; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 14, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999, in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
Members of the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization will conduct services on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home under the direction of Mary Ann Eckard.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Schaffer to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502, or to the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization, 534 A St., LaVale, MD 21502.
Members of the Allegany County Bar Association will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
JAMES SCARPELLI
WRIGHTS CROSSING - James Scarpelli, 69, of Wrights Crossing, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 30, 1929, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Pedro and Maria (Chiodo) Scarpelli. He was also preceded in death by 10 brothers: Albert, William 'Bee,' Frank, Arthur, Louie, Ernie, Nick, Tommy, Adam and Augustine.
Mr. Scarpelli had been employed by the Celanese Corporation and the Board of Education.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Cumberland Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean (Neat) Scarpelli; three sons, James Edward Scarpelli and wife, Rosemary, LaVale, John Scarpelli and wife, Peggy, Frostburg, and Richard Scarpelli, Sicklerville, N.J.; six grandchildren, Justin, Leah, Vincent, Matthew, Andrew and Rachel Scarpelli; and one sister, Anna Evans, Shaft.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Reginald Russo O.F.M., Cap., and the Rev. Jimmie Blair officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian.
MARIE A. YOCKUS
LAVALE - Marie Angela Yockus, age 83, of 707 National Highway, LaVale, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 6, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John H. Lindner and Theresa L. (Lehman) Lindner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Anthony J. Yockus, who died Sept. 15, 1995; four brothers, John V. Lindner, Paul F. Lindner, James J. Lindner, Michael L. Lindner; and one sister, Sister Bernadette Lindner.
Marie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, The Sodality of the Church, The LaSalle Mothers Club, and the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization.
Marie is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Yockus and wife, Jackie, Paul J. Yockus and wife, Linda, both of Cumberland; three grandsons, Scott E. Yockus and wife, Ashley, Roswell, Ga., Mark A. Yockus, Scottsdale, Ariz., Ryan J. Yockus, Tempe, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Elizabeth A. Yockus, Chevy Chase, Jennifer L. Yockus, Tucson, Ariz.; one great-granddaughter, Nicole A. Yockus, Roswell; one brother, Phillip E. Lindner; six sisters, Sister Mary Florence, Sister Anna Margaret, Sister Regina Clair, Sister Teresa Virginia, Sister Frances Louise, all members of the Catholic Order of the Daughters of Charity, and Loretta V. 'Boo' Lippold, Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland.
Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Cutajar as celebrant.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
A Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m. lead by the Rev. Fred Cutajar.
The members of the CHCO will pray the Holy Rosary on Thursday at 3 p.m. lead by CHCO member Mary Ann Eckard.
