GILBERT L. SAELER
ELLERSLIE - Gilbert L. Saeler, 94, of Ellerslie, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, following an extended illness.
He was born in Sistersville, W.Va., on July 3, 1904, the son of the late Charles P. Saeler and Emma Mae Brady Saeler. On Nov. 24, 1927, he married
the former Martha Lee McWhorter who preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 1986.
Mr. Saeler is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Genevieve Saeler, Jane Lew, W.Va., and Charles and Julia Saeler, Ellerslie; two daughters, Margaret Burkett, Hyattsville, and Marcia Thompson, Hyndman, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Thelma Harper, Philadelphia, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Saeler was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Grant, Paul and Charles Saeler.
Mr. Saeler was retired from the Columbia Energy Group with 41 years of service. He was a member of O.H.R. Lodge #131, Cumberland, a member of Scottish Rite of Cumberland, Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, Cumberland, McKinley Chapter #12 Order of the Eastern Star, Cumberland, and St. Johns Commandery Knight Templar, Weston, W.Va. He was also a member of the Tall Cedars of Cumberland and a charter member of the Lions Club of LaVale.
Friends will be received at the Floyd Funeral Home, 402 Main Ave., Weston, on Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rebecca Vardiman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Broad Run Cemetery, Jane Lew.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ellerslie Ambulance Squad or to the Volunteer Fire Department, Ellerslie, MD 21529.
HARVEY L. WILT
OAKLAND - Harvey Lewis Wilt, age 88, of 417 E. Green St., Oakland, formerly of Dundalk and Glen Burnie, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 18, 1910, near Swanton, and was a son of the late John Albert Wilt and Zelphia (Blocher) Wilt. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Andrew Wilt, Delbert Wilt, Porter Wilt, Howard Wilt, Arthur Wilt and Ira Wilt; also by four sisters, Lovada Murphy, Lula Armstrong, Viola Bray and Velma Wilt. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Wilt was a retired carpenter, having worked in his earlier years for the Glen L. Martin Company. He moved to Oakland in 1993, and was Methodist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Williams) Kumulides Wilt; three stepsons, Charles Kumulides, Arthur Kumulides and George Kumulides; one stepgranddaughter, Judy Schlothaur; one stepgrandson, Mike Kumulides; and four stepgreat-grandsons, all of the Baltimore area.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ivan Ackerman and the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of Garrett County or to the Garrett County Public Library.
CARROLL TAYLOR
FLINTSTONE - Carroll Taylor, 68, of Flintstone, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 24, 1931, in Blaine, W.Va., he was the son of the late Marion Eugene and Edna (Cosner) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a 1951 graduate of Allegany High School. He entered the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Corporal in the First Armored Division out of Fort Hood, Tex.
Mr. Taylor was known to many as "Kartay" the Magician. He was a magician since the age of seven when he saw the great Blackstone perform at the Maryland Theater in Cumberland. While serving in the U.S. Army, he gave shows at the Fort Hood Service Clubs. Following his discharge from the army, Mr. Taylor worked for USO shows, giving performances for three years. Afterwards, he was booked on a tour of theaters across the country. He returned to Cumberland to give his first hometown appearance at the Maryland Theater in 1957.
Performing magic for over 61 years, Mr. Taylor was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Society of American Magicians and the Magic Dealers Association, an organization which promotes the art of magic.
Mr. Taylor operated a magic shop and a 5 & 10 shop in Romney, W.Va., and the Cresaptown Cut Rate Variety Store for many years. More recently, he operated "Kartay's House of Magic" in Braddock Square Shopping Plaza, which attracted professional and amateur magicians from all over the country for several years until his retirement.
Surviving are his stepmother, Hazel Taylor, Rock Hall; one son, Joseph R. Lamp and wife Kelly, Flintstone; two grandchildren, Trista and Joey; one half-brother, Thomas Taylor, Rock Hall, and a cousin, Richard Williams, Pasadena.
Friends were received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted there on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Yelovich officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
SUSIE B. TEETS
ACCIDENT - Susie Brant Teets, 99, of 4348 Rock Lodge Road, Accident, died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at her residence.
Born May 24, 1899, in McHenry, she was a daughter of the late John George Brant and Savilla (Bowman) Brant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Teets, Nov. 21, 1981.
Mrs. Teets was a homemaker and also was caretaker for Rock Lodge. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Accident.
She is survived by a son, Russell L. Teets, Accident; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., McHenry, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Knupp officiating.
Interment will be in Bittinger Cemetery.
There will be no visitation on Easter Sunday.

CATHERINE E. THOMAS
FROSTBURG - Catherine Elizabeth Thomas, 90, formerly of 92 Ormand St., Frostburg, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 9 1908, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Johns) Thomas. She also was preceded in death by an aunt, Mollie Johns, in 1979.
Miss Thomas was a retired principal from the Columbia Street Elementary School, Cumberland.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frostburg, the Percy cemetery Commission, and the American Association of University Women.
Surviving are a brother, William M. Thomas and wife, Madeline; and a nephew, Douglas Thomas, all of Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Michael H. Tamorria officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

JAMES THOMPSON 'BROTHER JIM'
CUMBERLAND - In Loving Memory of Brother Jim Thompson, James Roy, 41, of Frederick Street, Cumberland, who died in his residence last week.
He was born on Nov. 30, 1957, in Cumberland, the son of the late Fred and Roberta Helen (Sanders) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was Protestant by faith.
He is survived by four sisters, Shirley Jones, Cumberland, Roberta Ellen Foster and husband, Francis, Hopewell, Pa., Barbara McKay and husband, Gerald, LaVale, Pamela Thompson, Cumberland; two brothers, John W. Thompson, Hagerstown, and Michael Thompson and wife, Joanne, Hagerstown; 22 nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thompson's body was cremated.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 22, 1999, at 1 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Family will receive friends prior to services.
Inurnment will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
