EDWARD WOLFE
LAVALE - Edward "Eddie" Wolfe, 78, of 1229 W. Braddock Road, LaVale, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 21, 1920, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John William Wolfe and the late Ella Mae (Gooding) Wolfe. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, William Wolfe and Richard Wolfe.
Mr. Wolfe was the retired president of the Malamphy's Distributing Co. He was a 50-year member of BPOE Lodge 63. He also was a member of the VFW Henry Hart Post 1411 and the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are a wife, Katherine (Catlett) Wolfe, LaVale; a sister, Virginia Creswell and husband Donald, Baltimore; and a brother, Cryil Wolfe, South Charleston, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. An Elks service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father William Moody and the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be Scott Zimmerly, Hugh Malamphy, John Furstenberg, Jay Armentrout, Thomas Farrell and John Creswell.
MARGARET M. WOLFE
OLDTOWN - Margaret Mae (Benson) Wolfe, 77, of Oldtown, faithful friend of her Lord, went home with him and her husband and loved ones on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, Cumberland. Margaret's life was devoted to the care and concerns of her family. She is mourned with great love and respect by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their families.
Born Feb. 13, 1922, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late George S. and Minnie (Peterman) Benson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd George Wolfe, March 11, 1995; six brothers, James Edward, Wilbur, Chester, Harry, George and Joseph Benson; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Belle Benson, Minnie Helen May Benson, Elizabeth Grabenstein; and son-in-law, Al Martin.
Mrs. Wolfe was a homemaker. She was a member of Oliver's Grove United Methodist Church, Oldtown. She was a faithful worker and member of Oliver's Grove United Methodist Church. She taught classes there for more than 20 years. She had served as President of United Methodist Women (W.S.C.S.), Secretary to Administrative Board, Treasurer of the Church School and U.M.W., Chairperson of Administrative Board, Church School Superintendent and Lay Leader, attended workshops with the Board of Education, studied child psychology under Dr. John Kirk of the University of Maryland and was a qualified leader for Parent-Child study sessions in Allegany County.
Surviving are two sons, Sonny Wolfe and wife Brenda, Ashburn, Va, and Eddie Wolfe and wife Pat, Hagerstown; four daughters, Georgia M. Martin, Mary June Mieszkowski and Rosalee A. Wolfe, all of Cumberland, and Sandi O'Connor and husband Mike, LaPlata; two sisters, Flora Crafton, Crestwood, Illinois, and Ellen Elfritz, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren, D'Ann Caron and husband Paul, Malden, Mass., Pam McMullan and husband Dave, Clear Spring, Sgt. Joe Wolfe and wife Lisa, Sterling, Va., Don'a Evans and husband Eric, Westminster, Mark Wolfe and wife Tammy, Hagerstown, Larry Wolfe and wife Terri, Jefferson, Keith Stup and wife Dee, Upper Marlboro, Julie Wright and husband Christian, Hagerstown, Kevin Stup, LaPlata, Jeff Mieszkowski, Huntington, W.Va., Michelle O'Connor and Misty O'Connor, both of LaPlata; and 15 great-grandchildren, A.J. McMullan, Joseph Wolfe, Seth Wolfe, Antonia Wolfe, Rachel Wolfe, Michael Caron, Jeremy McMullan, Stephen Caron, Matthew Wolfe, Molly Wolfe, Katherine Wolfe, the Caron triplets, Laura, Benjamin and Daniel Caron, and Ashleigh Stup.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oliver's Grove United Methodist Church, Friday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Henning officiating. Friends will also be received at the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Oliver's Grove Cemetery, Oldtown.
The family requests donations be made to Oliver's Grove United Methodist Church through Rosalee Wolfe, 16400 Wolfe Hollow Lane, Oldtown, MD 21555.
Pallbearers will be grandsons as listed above.
WILLIAM WOLFE
BARTON - William "Bill" Wolfe, 56, of 20108 Rock Oak Road, Barton, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born in Scherr, W.Va., on May 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Orville David and Edna (Rohrbaugh) Wolfe.
Mr. Wolfe was a heavy equipment operator, having recently worked for Vindex Mining. He was a loving husband and father, and had many friends. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Surviving are his wife Mary (Munson) Wolfe; one daughter Susan George and husband Mike, Petersburg, W.Va.; two stepsons, Dave Metz and wife Jennifer, Barton, and Chris Metz and fiancé Stacy Whiteman, Glen Burnie; one stepdaughter, Lynn Ann Moore and husband Bob, Lonaconing; three grandsons, Derek Metz, Tyler Moore and Brandon George; two granddaughters, Brittany George and Nicole Moore; two sisters, Betty Oates and Sunette Sites, both of Petersburg, W.Va., and numerous cousins.
At Mr. Wolfe's request, there will be no visitation and he will be cremated.
Services will be conducted at the Oak Dale Church of the Brethren, Route 93, three miles north of Scherr, W.Va., on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. with Abe Evans officiating.

JOHN B. WOLFHOPE
CUMBERLAND - John B. Wolfhope, 83, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 24, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Anastasia R. (Cordial) Wolfhope. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald W. Wolfhope; one brother, Frank J. Wolfhope; and one sister, Catherine Slade. Mr. Wolfhope was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Wolfhope was a 1934 graduate of Allegany High School. He was an assistant Postmaster at the Cumberland post office for 33 years, retiring in 1971 as superintendent of mail. He was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served as one of the three church Corporators, First Parish Council, Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Director of Collection Counters, seven and a half-year member of the Restoration Committee, and he received the Arch Diocesan Medal of Honor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #586, Cumberland, the Chief Justice Taney Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Cumberland, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Evalyn (Martz) Wolfhope; one daughter, Carole Frances Winner and husband John F., Cumberland; two granddaughters, Lisa Ann (Winner) Sommerfeldt and husband Donnie, Monrovia, and Linda Marie (Winner) Bartlett and husband Craig, Columbia.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 3:45 p.m. A Christian Wake will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Thomas B. Cumiskey will serve as lecturer.
Interment will be in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, it was John's wish that memorial contributions be made to the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 125 Fayette St., Cumberland, MD 21502 or to your favorite charity.
Serving as pallbearers are Pete Humbertson, Jim King, Bernard Winner, Pat Himmler, Don Gibson and Jim Collins. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ed Mason, Frank Simpson, and Bob Farrell.
FRANCIS H. WOOD
CUMBERLAND - Francis H. (Davy) Wood, 87, of Eastern Avenue, Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born March 13, 1912, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Joseph Morgan and Margaret (Kaden) Wood. He also was preceded in death by four brothers and nine sisters.
Mr. Wood was retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory after 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he was with the first unit to leave Cumberland. He was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and a 54-year member of the Cumberland Eagles #245.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ruth (Adams) Wood; one daughter, Patti McCormick and husband Denny, Cumberland; one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Wood; one step-son, Bill Matheney and wife Norma, LaVale; three granddaughters, Diane Bonner and husband Todd, LaVale, Julie Watkins and husband Stan, LaVale, and Erin McCormick, Frostburg; and one great-grandson, Cody Watkins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Christian Wake conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Milton Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Saint Mary's Cemetery.

LAWRENCE E. WRIGHT
CUMBERLAND - Lawrence Eugene Wright, 88, of 13017 Acre Lane, N.E., Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his residence.
Born Dec. 16, 1910, in Romney, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Lawrence Wright and the late Effie Frances Wright. He also was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth G. Wright.
Mr. Wright attended Saint Mary's Catholic Church. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Abercrombie. He enjoyed attending their reunions and visiting with his many sailor friends. Mr. Wright was a retired engineer for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #271.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sarah G. (McAteer) Wright, Cumberland; three sons, Donavan E. Wright and wife Susie, Cumberland, Lawrence E. Wright and wife Bonnie, Cumberland, and William W. Wright and wife Leslie, Bethesda; one sister, Joreatha Duckworth, Winchester Road; one nephew, Phillip Sonners, Winchester Road; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Services will be conducted there on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Monsignor Robert Passarelli officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
LYLE E. WRIGHT
CUMBERLAND - Lyle Eugene Wright, 76, of Potomac Park, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, after a long illness at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1923, in McHenry, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Wright.
Mr. Wright was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company after 40 years of service. He was an army veteran of World War II, a Purple Heart recipient, and a member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Wright; one daughter, Valerie Lytle and husband Mark, Hebron, Ky.; one son, Eugene Wright and wife Joretta, Cumberland; one sister, Katherine Savage, McHenry; one brother, Charles Wright, McHenry; four grandchildren, Valerie Wright, Matthew Wright, Alex Lytle and Eric Lytle.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there Saturday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
