D. Knickerbocker
A memorial Mass will be said at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Epiphany Catholic Church of Port Orange, Fla., for Douglas Ivan Knickerbocker, 27, of Annapolis.
Mr. Knickerbocker died Aug. 6, 2002 in a house fire in Eastport.
Born in Elmira, N.Y., he was a 1993 graduate of Spruce Creek High School of Port Orange and a member of the youth group of Epiphany Catholic Church. He went on to attend Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where he lived for five years before returning to central Florida.
He was employed by Ruby Tuesday's Restaurant in Port Orange. In August of 2001, Mr. Knickerbocker returned to the Washington, D.C., area and was employed at the Boatyard Bar and Grill in Annapolis.
His interests were drawing and writing and being with friends.
Survivors include his parents, David and Roberta Knickerbocker, of Port Orange; one brother, Scott Knickerbocker of Brandenton, Fla.; and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite mission charity.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cardwell & Maloney Funeral Home, 3571 Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange.
Ana Deinlein
Ana Chapman Deinlein, 69, of Odenton and previously of Millersville, died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Aug. 8, 2002 at North Arundel Hospital.
Born in Maryland, Mrs. Deinlein was known as Ana Bug. She attended Odenton Elementary School and graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1952. She had attended the Maryland Institute of Art.
She was a member of the Odenton Heritage Society.
Her interests were in arts and crafts, sewing and ceramic work.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Charles A. Deinlein; two daughters, Janet D. Keating of Severn, and Ana Catherine Zellers of Surprise, Ariz.; her mother, Margaret Eckman of Odenton; one sister, Dorothy S. Hammond of Odenton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Charles A. Deinlein Jr.; the sister of the late Catherine Sigler; the daughter of the late Charles L. Eckman and the great-grandmother of the late Lily Ann Collison.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills.

Marcela Lafia
Marcela Dimonte Lafia, 85, a 30-year resident of Riva, died of cancer Aug. 9, 2002 at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Mrs. Lafia was a survivor of the Holocaust in Europe. She lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before moving to the Annapolis area.
She was an active member of Congregation Kneseth Israel.
Her hobbies were playing bridge and traveling.
Survivors include one son, Raul Dimonte of Santiago, Chili; one brother, Simon Horowitz of Buenos Aires; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was married
to Miguel Dimonte and Jacques Lafia, both deceased.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Congregation Kneseth Israel, 1125 Spa Road. Burial will follow in the Kneseth Israel Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Hardesty Funeral Home of Annapolis.
The family wil be in mourning at 7 p.m. tomorrow at 3033 Marlin Drive, Riva.

Elisabeth Stein
Elisabeth "Liddie" Susan Stein, 45, a resident of Lompoc, Calif. for 16 years and previously of Severna Park for 29 years, died at her home Aug. 5, 2002 of complications of liver and brain tumors as a result of advanced breast cancer. She had been ill for 16 months.
Ms. Stein, the daughter of the late Neil and Gladys Stein, was born in Baltimore, Sept. 25, 1956. She was a 1974 graduate of Severna Park High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Maryland in 1978.
She was employed as a production coordinator at The Life Connection and Life Chiropractic in Lompoc from 1997 to 2002.
From 1989 to 1997, she was employed as a production manager for American Veterinary Publications in Goleta, Calif.
While living in Maryland, she was a member of the Linstead Swim Team, the championship girl's basketball team at Severna Park High School and served as a resident assistant at the University of Maryland, Denton Dormitory. She was a life member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association.
She was an accomplished artist and graphic designer and collector. Among her collections were dried flowers, antique valentines, minerals and record albums.
Ms. Stein was interested in Native American culture and explored often at the La Purisima Mission near her home. She was an avid seed gardener.
She participated in cat rescue and had a passion for orange cats and rescued many throughout the years.
Ms. Stein is survived by her companion of ten years, Mark L. Schuferling; one brother, Donald J. Stein of Fremont, Calif.; four sisters, Cecilia A. Stein of Houston, Texas, Nancy S. Murphy of Glastonbury, Conn., Wendy J. Sharpless of Oakland and Susan M. Holmes of Great Mills.
No services are planned at the request of Ms. Stein. The family suggests individual candlelight prayer.
Arrangements were made by the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 N. A. St., Lompoc.

Vladimir Wormwood
Vladimir "Val" Joseph Wormwood, 79, a resident of the HIllsmere area of Annapolis for 43 years and previously of Eastport, died Aug. 8, 2002 at his home of complications of diabetes and heart failure after a seven-month illness.
Mr. Wormwood was born in Manchuria, China and attended a missionary-run school in China prior to emigrating to the U.S.
He attended Annapolis High School and served in the military from 1942 to 1946 as a member of the Navy Seabees, Unit 117.
After his military duty, he joined the former Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. where he worked for 35 years.
He was a coach for Hillsmere youth basketball and baseball teams. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Annapolis Elks Club and the Eastport Democratic Club.
Mr. Wormwood enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his dog, Dutchess.
He was married
to Katherine Wormwood, who died in 1985.
Survivors include his wife of ten years, Betty A. Wormwood; two sons, Vladimir J. Wormwood of Kennebunke, Maine, and Kerry Wormwood of Lothian; one daughter, Marcia Socha of Effingham, N.H., and two step-daughters, Peggy Pyeatt of Franklin, N.C. and Karen Luzarraga of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Monday followed by the memorial service at noon, all at the Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are by the Taylor Funeral Home of Annapolis.
