Dorothy Egbert
Dorothy Mable Egbert, 85, a 21-year resident of Arnold, died Aug. 8, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born in Springdale, Wash., Mrs. Egbert grew up in the Northwest and lived in San Diego, Calif., for many years prior to moving to Maryland in 1981.
A homemaker, she was active in Asbury United Methodist Church and the Arnold Senior Center.
Surviving are two sons, Charles R. Egbert of Camino, Calif., and Fred L. Egbert of Tigerton, Wis.; a daughter, D. Roberta Phillips of Annapolis; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, 78 Church Road, Arnold, MD 21012, or the Arnold Senior Center, 44 Church Road, Arnold, MD 21012.
Amelia Meade
Amelia Frances Vlna "Mimi" Meade, 70, of Eastport, died of kidney failure Aug. 10, 2002 at the Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Meade, the daughter of the late Bessie and Vincent Vlna, was born in Annapolis on March 2, 1932.
She was employed by the former Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co., and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 204, the Eastport Senior Group, the Eastport Democratic Club, the Homemakers Club and the Eastport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she had been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
She enjoyed gardening, going on senior trips and family gatherings.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Marion Oliver "Pappy" Meade Sr.; two sons, Marion Oliver Meade Jr. of the home and Keith Andrew Meade of Crownsville; one brother, Vincent Andrew Vlna Jr. of Annapolis; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Her daughter, Maurica Florence Meade, died in 1999. She was the sister of the late Laurence and Gus Vlna and Beatrice Vlna Britton.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., with services at noon. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Hattie Williams
Hattie Corine Williams, 84, died of congestive heart failure Aug. 8, 2002 at her home in Bowie.
Mrs. Williams was born on Dec. 30, 1917, in Mitchellville where she attended Mount Nebo School. She worked in domestic services and in-home nursing.
A member of the Greater Mount Nebo A.M.E. Church in Upper Marlboro, Mrs. Williams served on the nurses unit, senior choir, Missionary Society and the usher board.
She enjoyed shopping, gardening, cooking for her grandchildren and having fun with the family.
On Feb. 4, 1937, she was married
to Andrew Williams, who died in 1990. The couple was divorced in 1983.
She is survived by five daughters, Burnell Williams of Davidsonville, Marvis "Mickey" Williams of Annapolis, Mary "Betty" Brown and Elaine Williams of Bowie and Catrina "Kitty" Howard of Capitol Heights; her mother, Maude Savoy-Brown of Capitol Heights; one brother, Walter Savoy of Brandywine; nine sisters, Katie Brown of Suitland, Sylvia Meyers of Washington, D.C., Leverna Jackson and Daisy Stith of Capitol Heights, Grace Savoy of Largo, Edith Savoy and Evelyn Scott of Hyattsville, Winnie Parker of Upper Marlboro and Louise Johnson of Fort Washington; 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Greater Mount Nebo A.M.E. Church, 401 Prince Georges Blvd., Upper Marlboro, followed by a Christian wake with the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Giordano Barbo
Giordano Barbo, 83, a resident of Annapolis for more than 50 years, died of natural causes Aug. 11, 2002 at his home.
Born on April 12, 1919, in Villanova di Parenso, Italy, Mr. Barbor served in the aviation branch of the Italian military for four years during World War II. After the war, he and his family emigrated to New York and then moved to Annapolis in 1952.
He worked for the Anne Arundel County government, retiring as a foreman of the sign fabrication department after 28 years of service.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Sons of Italy, Osia Lodge 2225. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In 1947 he was married
to Pierina Barbo. Also surviving are one son, John Barbo, and one daughter, Lucy Taylor, both of Annapolis; two sisters, Maria Verdini of Adelaide, Australia, and Carmella Fleri of Trieste, Italy; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Buriall will be in St. Mary's cemetery on West Street.

Glover Ferguson
Retired Navy Capt. Glover Trenholm Ferguson, 90, of Gainesville, Fla., and formerly of Annapolis, who served in the Navy for more than 35 years, died of natural causes Aug. 1, 2002 at a hospital in Gainesville.
Born in Baltimore, Capt. Ferguson moved to Annapolis in 1919 as a child. He attended the Gunston Farm School, graduated from Annapolis High School and attended the Severn School in preparation for the Naval Academy. He enlisted in the Navy at 17, and ultimately received his academy appointment, graduating with the Class of 1933. In his first class year, he was All-American in lacrosse and captain of the Navy varsity.
Capt. Ferguson was a Pearl Harbor survivor, served as a gunnery officer in New Orleans and in 1960 took command of the USS Boston.
He also lived in Annapolis for a time, where he taught ordnance at the academy and was the aide to the academy superintendent. His last tour of duty was as chief of staff to the Commander of the 14th Naval District in Honolulu.
After retiring from the Navy in 1964, he worked in the private sector in Hawaii before relocating to Coronado, Calif.
In 1936 he was married
to the former Mary Louise Reifsnider, who is now deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Laurie Sanders of Gainesville; a son, Glover Ferguson Jr. of Wheaton, Ill.; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Polly Williams of Annapolis.
Service arrangements are incomplete. Inurnment will be in Fort Rosencrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, Calif.

Larence Huber
Lawrence R. "Larry" Huber, 53, of Fairhaven in Tracys Landing, died Aug. 11, 2002 at the Millennium Health and Rehabilitation Center at South River in Edgewater, where he had resided since March 1998. He had suffered a cerebral aneurysm in July 1997.
Born in Bethlehem, Pa., on Oct. 15, 1948, Mr. Huber moved to Severna Park in his youth and graduated in 1967 from Annapolis High School. While in high school, he was an avid sailor and taught at the Ananpolis Sailing School. He attended the University of Maryland College Park for three years.
A construction superintendent, he worked for Pulte Homes, Royal Steuart Homes, the Milton Co. and Washington Homes, primarily in the Upper Marlboro, Prince George's County and northern Virginia areas.
In addition to sailing, he enjoyed woodworking, model boatmaking and being an accomplished handyman.
In 1972 he married
the former Carolyn Alden Watson and they made their home primarily in the Marlton-Upper Marlboro area in Prince George's County before moving to Fairhaven.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Huber of Upper Marlboro; one daughter, Katherine A. "Katie" Huber of the home; his father, Robert C. Huber of Mesa, Ariz.; and his sister, Frances R. Katchmer of Baton Rouge, La. He was the son of the late Shirley Huber.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements are by Rausch Funeral Home in Owings.
