Joseph Belvedere
Joseph Louis "Joe" Belvedere Sr., 81, an attorney and decorated combat veteran of World War II, died Aug. 23, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Baltimore.
Recently of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, Mr. Belvedere formerly lived in Kent, N.Y., for 33 years. He was born July 30, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and received his law degree from St. John's University there in 1949.
During World War II he served in the Army, receiving the Purple Heart with clusters, the Bronze Star with Arrowhead, the Combat Infantry Badge and other service area medals. He also served during the Korean War in France, and had been an inspector general. He retired from the service as a captain.
His legal career included eight years as town justice of Kent; eight years as town supervisor of Kent; and counsel to the Columbian Association of the New York City Police Deptartment. He also was a law professor and trustee of St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn.
He served as New York State commander of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was a member of St. Michael's Honor Society, a board member of the American Montessori Society, a member of the Carmel, N.Y., school board and president of the Seven Hills Lake Association in Kent.
He was a member of the Knights of Malta; a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus; and served as a lector at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Carmel for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed travel, camping, foreign languages, literature, opera and community service.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Gertrude E. Belvedere; two sons, Joseph Louis Belvedere Jr. of Churchton and Christopher E. Belvedere of McLean, Va.; one daughter, Louise Caldi of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Rocco Belvedere of Long Island, N. Y.; and three grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will be in Arlington National cemetery at a later date.
Barbara Feige
Barbara D. "Bobby" Feige, 74, of Ephrata, Pa., and formerly of Arnold, died of cancer Aug. 21, 2002 at Woodberry Wellness Center in Hampstead, N.C.
Mrs. Feige was born July 7, 1928, in Abington, Pa., the daughter of Dorothy A. Buseman Reeve of Ephrata and the late George F. Reeve.
A registered nurse for 15 years, she obtained her certification from the Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She was the widow of William G. Feige.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons, Bill Feige of Surf City, N.C., Gary Feige of Ephrata and Gregg Feige of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Lorraine Stevens of Roslyn, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Ephrata First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Andrew Mortuary in Wilmington, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 8424 Veterans Highway, Millersville, MD 21108.
John Filigenzi
John James Filigenzi Sr., 80, an Annapolis resident since 1990 and previously of Bowie for 29 years, died of congestive heart failure Aug. 24, 2002 at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Filigenzi was born in New York City on Oct. 4, 1921. He graduated from the Rhodes Business and Technological College of New York and attended Pace Institute, the City College of New York and Columbia University.
During World War II, he served as an officer in the Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a company commander in the European theater, and was awarded the Bronze Star for the Normandy campaign. He received the European Theater of Operations ribbon and the Victory and Army Commendation medals. He also served during the Korean War.
On Sept. 2, 1944, he was married
to Elizabeth "Betty" Filigenzi in Cherbourg, France.
Mr. Fililgenzi was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bowie. He enjoyed reading, his grandchildren and sports, particularly tennis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, John T. Filigenzi Jr. of Gambrills; three daughters, Carol Barlow of Severna Park, Lynn Wilson of Morehead City, N.C., and Dale Kellaher of Bowie; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Lakemont cemetery in Davidsonville.

Michael Longo
Michael Robert "Mike" Longo, 67, a 16-year resident of Millersville and previously of Crofton and New Jersey, died of cancer Aug. 24, 2002 at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park.
Mr. Longo was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pa., where he attended Catholic High School and LaSalle University.
Employed in the banking field for 30 years, Mr. Longo was a vice president in the management information systems division of Riggs Bank. While at the National Bank of Washington, Mr. Longo designed and built a data center.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Banking Association.
He enjoyed reading and movies, was a Frank Sinatra fan and followed the Miami Dolphins and the Boston Red Sox.
He was formerly married
to Jean Longo of New Jersey.
Surviving are his wife, Lee Longo, whom he married
Nov. 19, 1983; two daughters, Donna Barrea of Voorhees, N.J., and Samantha Griffith of Millersville; his mother, Catherine Longo of New Holland, Pa.; one brother, Felix Longo of Newtown, Pa.; and four grandchildren. He was the son of the late Felix Longo.
His son, Peter A. Kucker IV, died Nov. 26, 2000.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave. in Millersville. Burial will be private.

Melvenia Peed
Melvenia L. "Mel" Peed, 79, of Upper Marlboro since the late 1960s, died Aug. 24, 2002 at her home. The cause of death was not available.
The daughter of the late Joseph A. and Bertha Bernice Moreland Gibson, Mrs. Peed was born June 10, 1923, in Greenock and graduated from Southern High School in Lothian. She retired in 1978 as a secretary with the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 37 years as a federal employees.
She was an active member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 1350 in Upper Marlboro since 1977. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast.
Surviving are one son, D. Dale Gibson of St. Leonard in Calvert County; one brother, Russell Gibson, and one sister, Laura Cormier, both of Lothian; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Rausch Funeral Home, 8326 Mount Harmony Lane, Owings, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Asbury cemetery in Barstow in Calvert County.

Leopold Santerre
Leopold "Lee" Santerre, 87, a resident of Annapolis for 51 years, died unexpectedly Aug. 24, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. Santerre was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Arctic, R.I. He joined the Navy in 1937, serving with the fleet during World War II. He then became a member of the Navy Band where he played many musical instruments, his family said. He retired in 1957.
Subsequently, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring again in 1980.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch 24 and loved music, especially classical.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. "Dottie" Santerre, whom he married
in 1954. He was the son of the late Parfait J. and Emairilda M. Santerre.
Services are private. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home.
