RUTH R. FRANTZ
Ruth Rosalie (Schroyer) Frantz, 89, Friendsville, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Aug. 21, 1915, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Elizabeth (Sterling) Schroyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Owen Frantz, Sept. 18, 2000; one brother, Cecil Webster Schroyer; and one sister, Ada Blanche Lewellen.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Friendsville United Methodist Church and WOW Lodge 45.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Louise Frantz, Morgantown, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, today Thursday, July 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Sarah Snyder officiating.
Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Friendsville United Methodist Church.
RONALD H. GASKILL
Ronald H. Gaskill, 71, Mtn. Lake Park, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 3, 1933, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William H. Gaskill and Dorothy (Mallonee) Gaskill.
He was a retired rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Day) Gaskill; one son, Michael Gaskill, Baltimore; two daughters, Deborah A. Young, Manassas, Va., and Catherine E. Romage, Mt. Hope, W.Va.; one sister, Anne Forrester, Mtn. Lake Park; and two grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland.
A service was held on Monday, Aug. 1, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating.
Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
ROBERT V. SELBY
Robert V. Selby, 70, of Dundalk, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 24, 1934, in Selbysport, he was a son of the late Ernest and Lizzie (Humberson) Selby. He was also preceded in death by one son, Robert.
He was a member of Dundalk United Methodist Church, where he served as a board member and did volunteer maintenance work. He was active in Boy Scouts as a Cub Scout leader and committeeman.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie (Capel) Selby; one son, David Selby, Edgewater; two daughters, Susan Hinkle, Dundalk, and Carol Selby-Allen, Glen Burnie; one brother, Claude Selby, Friendsville; one sister, Fern Lininger, Friendsville; and four grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville.
A service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Selbysport United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sarah Snyder officiating.
Interment was in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
PATRICIA G. WILT
Patricia Gloria Wilt, 49, Meyersdale, Pa., died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born March 6, 1956, in Beachdale, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Clifford Frederick and Lucretia Irene (Butler) Bittinger. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Butler and Catherine Felker; and two brothers, Marvin and Lorain Bittinger.
She attended Jennings Church of God and was a geriatric nursing assistant at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center, Frostburg.
She is survived by her husband, Galen E. Wilt; four sons, Mitchell Scott Guthrie and Galen Edward Wilt, both of Meyersdale, Dustin Eugene Wilt, Mount Savage, and Michael Ray Wilt, Frostburg; three brothers, Blair Bittinger, Grantsville, Joseph Bittinger, Pocahontas, and Rusty Bittinger, St. Paul, Pa.; two sisters, Dwonda Kelly, Meyersdale, and Elaine Durst, Frostburg; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury, where a service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, with the Rev. Milton Morris officiating.
Interment was in White Oak Cemetery.
KENNETH R. CASTEEL
Kenneth "K.C." Raymond Casteel, 23, Finzel, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, as a result of an automobile accident on Piney Point Road in Leonardtown. See complete story on the front page.
Born Sept. 6, 1981, in Cumberland, he was the son of Kenneth Wayne Casteel and Kristi Jo (Andrews) Casteel of Finzel.
He was a United States Air Force veteran and was employed as an electrician for the Merchant Marines.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Gordon Andrews, his wife, Nelda (DeNeen) Andrews, Cumberland; his paternal grandmother, Shelby Jean Uphold, Wellersburg, Pa.; and two sisters, Amanda Glass, Cumberland, and Sabreena Wilt, Grantsville.
Friends were received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, Cumberland, where a service was held Monday, Aug. 1, with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Interment was in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
DALE L. SIMPSON
Dale L. Simpson, 82, Mtn. Lake Park, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at his home.
Born Sept. 30, 1922, in Deer Park, he was a son of the late James E. Simpson and Ethel M. (Hamill) Simpson. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Bernadine M. Anthony.
Mr. Simpson was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the VFW Post 10077, American Legion Post 71, Elks Lodge 2481, the Deer Park Sportsmen's Club, and Camp 11, Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy M. (Walter) Simpson; two sons, Ronald L. Simpson, Edgewood, and Earl L. Simpson and wife Cynthia, Deer Park; three grandchildren, Kimberly A. Goessler and husband David, Brunswick, Ohio, Jeffrey L. Simpson and wife Kendra, Deer Park, and Douglas A. Simpson, Oakland; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Simpson, Kyle Goessler, Courtney Goessler, Kadi Simpson, and step-great-grandson Garth Wolfe.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, with the Rev. William Dawson officiating.
Interment was in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Military honors were accorded at graveside by members of the local veterans' organizations.

MARTHA E. HOLSOPPLE
Martha E. Holsopple, 84, Oakland, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born April 16, 1921, in Brookside, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Roy J. and Trecia (Wolfe) Bowman.
She was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren. She was a former volunteer for the Western Maryland Chapter of the American Heart Association, and the Garrett Coun-ty Board of Elections. She was a former supervisor of baked goods for the Garrett County Fair, and a former member of the Homemaker's Club, the Garrett County Christian Women's Association, and the Women's Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband, C. Harold Holsopple; one daughter, Jeannette D. Swartzentruber, Key West, Fla.; one son, Brian D. Holsopple, Staunton, Va.; one sister, Naomi Teets, Boonesboro; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.
A service was held today, Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Fairview Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. David Moon and the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment was in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Martha Ellen had devoted her efforts to providing a home for her family without regard to her own extra work and love involved, and made home a haven of peace for all members of her family, providing food and shelter beyond what was expected to them. All family members are thankful for her quiet strength through the years she was with us. She thoroughly loved to attend church worship services while she was able, and sadly missed them when not physically able. We are thankful for the example she set through her lifetime.
FREDA E. KUBICA
Mrs. Freda E. "Betty" Kubica, 76, of Homewood in Martinsburg, W.Va., died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at the nursing home.
She was born in Altoona, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Fred and Freda (Redwitz) Tantius. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael M. Kubica, on Sept. 30, 1999; and one brother, Alfred Tantius, in 1950.
She was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1948, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Ladies Sorority in Luke. She had also resided in Wickliffe, Ky., for many years.
Surviving are her son, Timothy Kubica, Oakland; one brother, Thomas Tantius of Pennsylvania; and one sister, Margaret Matson of Florida.
A service was conducted on July 30 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
RONALD G. STALLINGS
Ronald Gregory Stallings, 68, Accident, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at his home.
Born Aug. 28, 1936, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Daniel Joseph and Dorothy Ruth (Appleby)Stallings.
He was a retired electronics technician for Westinghouse. He was co-founder and director of Maryland Committee for Psychical Research.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Lee (Krach) Stallings; two sons, Steven Gregory Stallings and Scott Vincent Stallings, both of Accident; two stepsons, Allan Wayne Simokat, Jonestown, Pa., and Mark Daniel Simokat, Glen Burnie; two daughters, Deborah Lea Flynn, Olympia, Wash., and Suzanne Marie Courtney, Chantilly, Va.; one stepdaughter, Cindy Helen Reeson, Plano, Texas; two sisters, Janet Sullivan, Dundalk, and Nancy Jean White, Sterling, Va.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
At his request, his body was cremated, and there will be no service.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be directed as contributions to Hospice of Garrett County.
