Lydia Ball
Lydia May Lee Ball, 78, a resident of Elkridge since 1950, died Oct. 6, 2002 at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Ball was born May 2, 1924, in New York City, daughter of the late Frederick and Isabelle Lee, and raised in Merrick, N.Y., where she graduated from Metham High School.
During World War II she worked for Bell Telephone Laboratories in Baltimore in research and received a unit commendation from the War Department for her work.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ilchester where she volunteered with the Friday bingo games.
She was married
to Robert G. Ball Jr. for 56 years before his death.
Surviving are one son, Royce Ball of Edgewater; one daughter, Lillian Pfeifer of Arbutus; one sister, Elizabeth Frasse of Seaford, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Kaufman Funeral Home, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, where services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
Clarence Coulter
Clarence C. Coulter, 71, of Shady Side, died Oct. 8, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. Coulter was born in Cabin John in Montgomery County, the son of the late Rudolph and Gladys Cole Coulter. He was a retired superintendent for a building contractor. His interests included crabbing and boating.
He was the widower of Rose Coulter and is survived by a son, John C. Coulter of Dunkirk.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd., Owings, where services will be at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery in Suitland.
Montary Hayes
Montary Idella "Mont" Hayes, 82, a resident of the Skidmore area of the Broadneck Peninsula for 82 years, died of heart failure Oct. 6, 2002 at the home of her daughter in Annapolis after a brief illness.
Born April 18, 1920, in Annapolis, Mrs. Hayes attended schools in Skidmore. She worked at the Naval Academy and for Rainbow Cleaners in Annapolis.
She was a member of the Senior Choir and the United Methodist Women at Asbury Broadneck United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing, gospel music, cooking and being with family and friends.
In May 1939 she married
Perry Hayes, who died June 11, 1987. She was the mother of the late Melvin Hayes, Barbara Russ and Carol Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Perry Hayes Jr. and Wade Hayes; three daughters, Evelyn Jones, Irene Porter and Doris Brewer; one sister, Minnie Robinson, all of Annapolis; 34 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Asbury Broadneck United Methodist Church, Broadneck Road at Revell Highway, with a Christian wake at 11:30 a.m. followed by services at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Mary Johnson
Mary Catherine Johnson, 75, formerly of Chester, died Oct. 7, 2002 at Green Valley Terrace Gardens in Millsboro, Del.
Mrs. Johnson was born April 8, 1927, in Grasonville to the late James Sudler Bryan and Catherine Barbara Steiner Thomas. She married
Wiliam Paige Johnson on March 22, 1946.
She worked as a chief page in the Maryland Senate in Annapolis until retiring in 1989.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Karla Paige Larrimore of Chester and Kathy Jane Shea of Milford, Del.; a sister, Patsy Clendaniel of Grasonville; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, where services will be at 2 p.m. tomrorow. Burial will be in Stevensville Cemetery.
Gene Kirchner
Gene Kirchner, 59, a native and lifelong resident of Annapolis, died on Oct. 7, 2002 at home. The cause of death was not available.
Mr. Kirchner was born Dec. 21, 1942, and was an Army veteran. He retired as a captain in 2000 after 32 years of service in the Annapolis City Fire Department.
He was a member of Broadneck Elks Lodge 2608, and enjoyed NASCAR and sports, especially baseball.
Surviving are a daughter, Gina Kirchner of Severna Park; two sons, Gene "Butch" Kirchner of Baltimore and Curran Kirchner of Crofton; one sister, Brenda Maxwell of Greensboro in Caroline County; three brothers, Richard "Reds" Kirchner of Hillsmere, Marion "Pete" Kirchner of Crownsville and James "Jimmy" Kirchner of Florida; and five grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Harry Kirchner Jr. and Robert Kirchner.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 tonight at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., where services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
Lynn Sackett
Lynn Broseker Sackett, 48, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Oct. 1, 2002 at Health Park Hospital in Fort Myers Beach from complications after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Sackett was born March 21, l954, in Baltimore. She graduated from Severna Park High School in 1972 and Johns Hopkins School of Radiologic Technology in 1974.
She worked at Memorial Hospital in Easton, Anne Arundel Medical Center, Anne Arundel M.R.I. and Prince George's M.R.I.
Mrs. Sackett was an active member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park and enjoyed sailing, golf, gardening and cooking.
Surviving are two sons, Ryan Leslie Sackett and Tod Darby Sackett, both of Annapolis; her mother, Joan Broseker of Severna Park; a sister, Barbara Van Horn of Annapolis; a brother, Brian Broseker of Severna Park; and her friend, Bruce MacFarlane of Fort Myers.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park.

Agnes Taft
Memorial services for Agnes Latimer Taft, 87, of Redding, Calif., were held in Redding on Oct. 5, 2002.
Mrs. Taft, formerly of Severna Park and Glen Burnie between 1970 and 1984, died Sept. 27, 2002 in a private home care center in Redding after a lengthy illness.
While in this area she was an active member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, the League of Women Voters, the Severna Park Democratic Club, Common Cause and the Society for the Physically Handicapped.
She assisted with Meals on Wheels and the Anne Arundel County CROP Walk. In l983 she was awarded the Anne Arundel County Senior Citizens' Award from the Severna Park Jaycee Women.
Surviving are her three children, Sheila Barnes of Redding, Sarah Taft of Atlanta, Ga., and Steven Taft of Haywood, Calif.; one granddaughter; two sisters, Ruth Latimer of Severna Park and Elizabeth Kokiko of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, James Latimer of Charlotte, N.C. She was the sister of the late John Latimer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 19 at Mount Rainier Christian Church, 33rd Street and Bunker Hill Road, Mount Rainier, followed by burial at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood.
