R. McGrath-Bridges
A memorial service for Rachel McGrath-Bridges of Garner, N.C. and formerly of Annapolis, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Evangelical Presybterian Church of Annapolis, 710 Ridgely Ave. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. McGrath-Bridges, 68, died of leukemia Sept. 28, 2002 at her home in North Carolina. She lived in Annapolis while working for 14 years as a surgical nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Elva Austin
Elva Mae Austin, 91, of Annapolis, died of natural causes Oct. 8, 2002 at her home.
Born April 6, 1911, in Rodanthe, N.C., on the Outer Banks, Mrs. Austin was a homemaker and an avid reader. She enjoyed the ocean and her family life.
Surviving are one son, B. Kent Austin of Riva; two daughters, Fannie Browning and Gay Austin of Annapolis; two sisters, Jean Leightner of Annapolis and Sadie White of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Monty Birdsong
Norman Monty Birdsong, 60, a resident of Anne Arundel County all his life, died of lung cancer Oct. 9, 2002 at the home of his niece, Susan Gallion of Arnold.
Born July 6, 1942, in Millersville, Mr. Birdsong served in the Army in the early 1960s. He was a form carpenter with the Carpenters Union.
A gun collector, he was a member of the National Rifle Association. He attended North Arundel Church in Glen Burnie.
Also surviving are another niece, Debbie Holston of Pasadena, and a brother.
Visitation is from noon to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, where services will follow. Burial will be in Glen Haven cemetery in Glen Burnie.
Clifton Brock
Private services were held this morning for Clifton E. "Shorty" Brock, 64, of Worton in Kent County, who died Oct. 8, 2002 in Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.
Mr. Brock was born July 22, 1938, in Millersville, the son of the late Harvey T. and Barbara Gerhardt Brock. He moved from Severna Park to the Eastern Shore about 19 years ago.
He was a controller for various companies over a 20-year period, retiring in 2000 due to disability.
He was a member of the Middletown, Del., Baptist Church and the National Rifle Association. His interests included reading, cooking, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Patricia Schulze Brock; two daughters, Deborah Sciullo of Level Green, Pa., and Lisa Michele Bays of Worton; one brother, Harvey Thurman Brock Jr. of Fairborn, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Middletown Baptist Building Fund, 419 Armstrong Corner Road, Middletown, DE 19790. Arrangements were by Galena Funeral Home in Galena.
Charlotte Eldredge
Charlotte Griggs Eldredge, 78, a 46-year resident of Annapolis, died of leukemia Oct. 8, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born April 20, 1924, in Fairfield, Conn., Mrs. Eldredge was a 1945 graduate of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in New York City.
Mrs. Eldredge was a founder of the Children's Theatre of Annapolis. She sponsored seminars for Elizabeth Kubler Ross and Gregg Firth on "Interpreting Drawings" and "Death and Dying." She was a board member of the League of Women Voters, a member of the Severn River Association and secretary and treasurer of the Citizens Committee.
She was active politically for candidates she admired and enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and vacationing with her family in the Caribbean and national parks.
On Sept. 6, 1947, she was married
to Seneca D. Eldredge, who died April 19, 1963.
Survivors include three sons, Seneca Dutcher Eldredge of Annapolis, Peter Hampden Eldredge of San Diego, Calif., and Robert Malcolm Eldredge of Bow, N.H.; one daughter, Wynn Harrison Boyle of Annapolis; one brother, Peter Griggs of Fairfield, Conn.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Robert Griggs, died in service during World War II.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 333 Dubois Road.

Grace Gantt
Grace Josephine Gantt, 88, of Annapolis, died of natural causes Oct. 8, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Gantt had worked for the Income Tax Division of the State Comptroller's Office before retiring.
She was born July 27, 1914, and educated in Annapolis. Her interests included knitting, birds, squirrels, gardening and reading.
In 1934 she was married
to James F. Gantt, who died in 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Caldwell of Annapolis and Geraldine Cole of Gambrills; one sister, Mary Kehs of Fort Pierce, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Charles and George Berry.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., where services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Michael McCarthy
Michael O. McCarthy, 50, a self-employed builder and home renovator in Maryland and Washington, D.C., died of cancer Oct. 7, 2002 at his Stevensville home.
Mr. McCarthy was born in Bethesda and graduated from St. John's College High School in Washington. Over the last decade he spent several months each year as a fly-fishing guide for the Granmorangie Lodge on the Delaware River in Starlight, Pa., and Old Boetcher Lodge in Walden, Colo.
He also worked as a commercial rod and reel offshore fisherman throughout the Eastern seaboard. An avid hunter, he made hand carved decoys. He also built custom furniture.
Surviving are his daughter, Courtney Erin Logan McCarthy, a student at Lynchburg College in Virginia; his mother, Helen Kalas McCarthy, and his brother, Daniel J. McCarthy, both of Stevensville.
A gathering will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the home of Ian Day and Lucinda Ewell at 100 Wallace Manor Road in Edgewater. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Chester.
Gordon Mutch
A memorial service for D. A. Gordon Mutch, 90, of Annapolis, will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 18, 2002 at Epping Forest Chapel in Epping Forest.
Mr. Mutch, a former assisant director of central services for Anne Arundel County, died June 2, 2002 at the Chesapeake Hospice House in Linthicum. A complete obituary was published on Aug. 23.Emma Raschka
Emma Raschka, 91, of Arnold and formerly of Dundalk, died Oct. 7 at Future Care-Chesapeake in Arnold.
A homemaker, Mrs. Raschka was born May 14, 1911, in Dundalk, the daughter of the late Adam and Cathrine Brodowski.
Her husband of 52 years, the late Rev. Joseph T. Raschka, was pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Dundalk where she was the organist at one time and sang in the choir.
She was active with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Lutheran Mission Society of Maryland and a member of AARP.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Rayne of Arnold, Naomi Peckenschneider of Susquehanna, Pa., and Rhoda Williamson of Laurel; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Connelly Funeral Home, 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk. Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Christ Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery to follow.
