James Pfister
James Joseph Pfister, 70, of Queenstown, died of brain cancer Oct. 15, 2002 at his home after a four-month illness.
Mr. Pfister was born Aug. 19, 1932, and raised in Baltimore. He received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Loyola College of Maryland, served in the Navy and worked as an accountant for the federal government.
Formerly of Glen Burnie, he resided in Queenstown for the past 12 years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Severna Park, the American Legion on Kent Island, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grasonville and the Bay Country Moose Lodge 831 in Queenstown.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was the widower of Julia Guldan Pfister.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey T. Pfister of Key Largo, Fla., and John Michael Pfister of Queenstown; one brother, Joseph Thomas Pfister of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; and his friend, Marilis Olsavsky of Queenstown.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Pasadena. Burial will be in Glen Haven cemetery in Glen Burnie.

Barbara Schmidt
Barbara Agnes Schmidt, 87, of Severna Park, died of natural causes Oct. 15, 2002 at the Severna Park Center, Genesis Eldercare.
Born Oct. 2, 1915, and raised in Baltimore, Mrs.. Schmidt lived in the Manhattan Beach area of Severna Park for many years. In addition to her family, she enjoyed the Baltimore Orioles, arts, crafts, bingo and gardening.
She was married
to Louis C. Schmidt for 50 years prior to his death on Sept. 20, 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Charles E. Schmidt of Annapolis and William L. Schmidt of Arnold; six grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Barth of Baltimore.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis with burial in Glen Haven cemetery in Glen Burnie.

Raymond Scott
Mary Jane Scott
Raymond Carl Scott Sr., 42, and his wife, Mary Jane Scott, 40, of Centreville, died Oct. 13, 2002 at the scene of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Corsica Neck Road in Centreville.
Born Sept. 13, 1962, in Arnold, Mrs. Scott was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Jane Baublitz Leister. She attended Severna Park High School and on Oct. 11, 1979, she married
Raymond Carl Scott Sr. of Arnold. They began living in Centreville shortly after their marriage.
Mr. Scott was born June 22, 1960, in Prince Frederick, the son of Hillary Woodrow Scott of Bridgetown in Caroline County and Ruth Fishburn Oyer of Portland, Pa. He attended Calvert County schools and later Severna Park High School. He began working for Campbell Sand and Gravel in Crofton, and later bought his own trucks and did business as R. Scott Trucking of Centreville.
Mrs. Scott helped her husband in his trucking business. In 1994 she began working as a service clerk in the Giant Food store in Easton.
They were active in the 40 and Over Softball League in Centreville where Mr. Scott was a player and president. He also coached his son's football team, the Centreville Cowboys, in 1999.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Bay Country Moose Lodge 831 and Mrs. Scott was a member of the Bay Country Ladies of the Moose in Queenstown. She also belonged to Local 27 of the union at Giant.
They are survived by their children, Jessica Lynn Scott, Amanda Marie Scott and Raymond Carl Scott Jr., all of Centreville, and a granddaughter.
In addition to his children and his parents, Mr. Scott is survived by two brothers, Richard Scott of Quakertown, Pa., and Charles Scott of Bridgetown; four sisters, Carol J. Masten of Neola, Pa., Tammy Satterfield of Centreville, Tracy Satterfield of Bridgetown and Dee Garcia of Atlanta, Ga.; his stepfather, Dick Oyer of Portland; and his stepmother, Patricia Scott of Bridgetown.
His sister, Deborah Ann Scott, died in 1974.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 408 S. Liberty St., Centreville, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Chesterfield cemetery in Centreville.

Elizabeth Sherr
Elizabeth Frances Sherr, 80, of Odenton, died of heart failure Oct. 15, 2002 at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville after a long illness.
Mrs. Sherr worked from 1968 to 1972 at the Post Office in Odenton.
Born Aug. 13, 1922, in Durham, N.C., she graduated in 1940 from Durham High School and attended Salem Women's College in North Carolina.
She was a member of the Retired Officers' Wives Club of Fort Meade and the Fairmont Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio. Sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening, cooking and canning were among her interests.
On Feb. 27, 1946, she was married
to Earle Sherr, a retired Army lieutenant colonel who died in 1986.
Surviving are one son, David Sherr of Bowie; two daughters, Sara Jean McVeigh of Woodbridge, Va., and Deborah S. Blank of Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Anne Belle Dickens, Nellie Rivers Rhew and Lois Rhew, all of Durham; and five grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Lottie Mae Ralston.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 tonight at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, where services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 4 in Arlington National Cemetery.

Edith Thompson
Edith Octavia Thompson, 83, of West Melbourne, Fla., and previously of Annapolis, died of natural causes Oct. 11, 2002 in Melbourne.
Born March 22, 1919, in Edgewater, Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late Preston D. and Edith Kirby Leitch. She moved to Florida 22 years ago. She was a former member of Edgewater United Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
The widow of Harvey Thompson, she is survived by one sister, Lena Williams of Mayo. She was the mother of the late Claude Stewart and sister of the late Dudley Leitch, Eleanor Collison, Etta Scible and Edna Gomoljak.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Forest Drive. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home.
Wendy Bolly
Wendy J. Bolly, 25, of Glen Burnie died Oct. 11, 2002 at the Shock-Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Miss Bolly was born April 6, 1977, in Maryland and held a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami in Florida.
She worked in marketing and public relations for the National Book Network.
She was a member of the Tau Beta Sigma coed music fraternity.
Miss Bolly enjoyed playing the flute and piccolo, listening to music, scuba diving, traveling and reading.
Survivors include her parents, Louie and Judy Bolly of Glen Burnie; one brother, Brian Bolly of Miami, Fla.; and her grandparents, Dorothy and Charles Brigerman of Glen Burnie.
Funeral services were held Oct. 15 at Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Singleton Funeral Home.
