Elfriede Hoppmann
Elfriede W. Hoppmann, 87, a longtime resident of Scotia, N.Y., died Nov. 1, 2002 at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango, N.Y.
Born in Germany on Jan. 23, 1915, Mrs. Hoppman came to the United States in 1929. She was trained as a child's nurse at St. Margaret's Hospital in Albany, N.Y.
She was a lifelong comunicant of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schenectady where she taught Sunday school and belonged to the Mary Circle in Scotia. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross.
Her husband, William F. Hoppmann, died in 1990.
Surviving are one daughter, Marie Margosian of Fayetteville, N.Y.; one son, William Hoppmann of Callaway in St. Mary's County and formerly of Crofton; one brother, Rev. William Wild of New Britain, Conn.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements are by Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Forrest Noel
Forrest Martin Noel, 82, a resident of Severna Park for 15 years, died of heart failure Nov. 2, 2002 at University Hospital in Baltimore after a brief illness.
Mr. Noel was born May 19, 1920, in Johnstown, Pa., and served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 in World War II. He was a stationary engineer and refrigeration mechanic for Westinghouse before retiring.
He belonged to Elks and Moose lodges and enjoyed working with his hands, listening to big band music, photography, traveling and airplanes.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Elva Noel; one son, Forrest R. Noel of Severn; one daughter, Mary Lou Rosencranz of Glen Burnie; one sister, Myra Caplin of Johnstown; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and Wednesday at Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Ave. SW, Glen Burnie, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery in Brooklyn Park.

Jeffrey Augerinos
A memorial service was held Oct. 29 at the Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas, for Jeffrey Lawrence Augerinos, 21, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of Arnold, who died Oct. 23, 2002 in Houston.
Born in Baltimore on May 16, 1981, Mr. Augerinos attended elementary school in the Arnold area. He moved to Texas with his family where he completed his schooling.
He was interested in nature and sports.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Sharon Augerinos of Houston; one brother, Scott Augerinos of Houston; and his grandparents, Steve and Norma Augerinos and Audrey Rauser, all of Baltimore.
Emma Carter
Emma Marie Carter, 81, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, died at her home Nov. 1, 2002 of Alzheimer's Disease after an illness of seven years.
Born in Birdsville, she attended the former Stanton Elementary School and graduated from the former Wiley H. Bates High School in 1937. She received her licensed practical nurse diploma in 1974 from the Community College of Baltimore.
She worked at Crownsville State Hospital from which she is retired. She also worked part-time at the Annapolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifetime member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Annapolis, she belonged to the Altar Guild, the Senior Choir, was a communion steward and member of a Bible class. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 141 of Annapolis.
Survivors include three sons, Rodney Howard Jr. of Davidsonville, Bruce Howard of Huntsville, Ala., and Darryl Carter of Annapolis; three daughters, Beverly Taylor and Marcella Phelps of Annapolis and Louise Howard of Crofton; two brothers, Emanuel Thomas of Annapolis and Randolph Thomas of Prince George's County; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by former husbands, Rodney B. Howard and Joseph I. Carter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Reese Mortuary, 861 West St. A Christian wake will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West St. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville.
John Holt
Funeral services for John Marvin Holt, 84, of Baltimore and formerly of Annapolis, were held Oct. 22, 2002 at Douglas Memorial Community Church in Baltimore, with burial in Restland Memorial Park.
Mr. Holt, a retired Anne Arundel County teacher and administrator, died Oct. 16 at University Hospital in Baltimore after a long illness.
Born in Jackson, Miss., the son of the late Payton and Pearl Williams Holt, he received a bachelor's degree from Virginia State College and a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed additional postgraduate work at the University of Oregon and the University of Maryland.
From 1949 to 1963 he taught physical education, health and driver's education at the former Wiley H. Bates High School, where he also was the coach of football, basketball, track, baseball and cross country.
In 1964 he became an administrator at MacArthur Junior High School at Fort Meade, the first African-American secondary school administrator appointed in Anne Arundel County following desegregation.
In 1966 he was an administrator at Northeast High School in Pasadena. He was one of 93 educators in the United States selected by the National Association of Secondary School Principals to participate in its administrative internship project.
He returned to MacArthur Junior High, becoming its principal in 1972. He served in this capacity for 11 years, retiring in 1983 after 43 years as an educator.
Mr. Holt was active in professional and community groups, serving as vice president of the Anne Arundel County Physical Education Association and president of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association and of the Secondary Schools Administrators Association of Anne Arundel County.
He was treasurer of the Maryland Middle School Association, president of the Board of Directors of Educational Employees of the Anne Arundel County Federal Credit Union, past master of Universal Masonic Lodge 14 and president of the Anne Arundel County Retired Teachers Association.
He also was active in Boy Scouts, Phi Delta Kappa educational fraternity, various summer camp programs and Douglas Memorial Community Church.
In 1953 he was married
to Olivia King who survives him. Also surviving are three nieces.
Arrangements were by Nutter Funeral Home in Baltimore.
Mary Jackson
Mary Louise Sellman "Bunny" Jackson, 63, associate judge of the Anne Arundel County Orphans Court, died Oct. 31, 2002 at her home in Davidsonville.
Born March 7, 1939, in Lothian, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Louise E. Sellman. She received a bachelor of science degree in history from Morgan State University and a master's degree in education from Towson University.
She taught in Anne Arundel County and Baltimore city public schools. She was owner and president of Davidsonville Diversified Services Landscape and Maintenance Service.
She was the first African- American to hold a judge's position with the county's Orphans Court.
Mrs. Jackson took part in the civil rights March on Washington in August 1963 with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. In 1984 she was appointed to the National Advisory Council on Adult Education by President Ronald Reagan.
She was honored for her community services by former County Executive Robert A. Pascal.
Active in political and community organizations, she was a member of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women, and the Anne Arundel County Minority Business Enterprise.
She also belonged to Delta Sigma Theta, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Community Action Agency, the former Helping Hand of Annapolis and helped with the Kunta Kinte celebrations.
Her interests included history, politics, education, helping people, community service, cooking, and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Isaiah Jackson; three sons, Sheldon D. Sellman and Shelby D. Hemphill of Annapolis, and Isaiah M. Jackson of Davidsonville; three daughters, L. Michelle Jackson Hoff of Severn, Suzette E. Offer of Galesville, and Barya B. Offer of Millington; one sister, Shirley A. Perry of Galesville; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James T. Sellman, and one sister, Catherine S. Bias.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, 2 Hicks Ave., Annapolis, with services immediately following. Burial will follow at Adams United Methodist Church cemetery in Lothian.
