Earl Anderson Jr.
Earl Norman Anderson Jr., 82, a resident of the Linstead community in Severna Park for 55 years, died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, on March 4, 2006 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a four-year illness.
Born July 30, 1923, in Baltimore, Mr. Anderson was reared in Brooklyn and graduated from Southern High School and the University of Baltimore.
During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps from 1941 to 1944. He worked for the former Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. for more than 40 years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 175, a Severn School board member and a former coach and organizer for the Greater Severna Park Athletic Association's Green Hornets.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Thelma Anderson; one son, Scott C. Anderson, and one brother, Melvin Anderson, both of Tampa, Fla.; and three granddaughters. He was the father of the late Steve R. Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park. Burial is private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Ruth Kuhl
Retired Army Lt. Col. Ruth Greene Kuhl, 92, a resident of Crofton for 32 years and previously of Atlanta, Ga., died of heart failure March 5, 2006 at Crofton Convalescent Center.
Born June 4, 1913, in Cary, Ky., Lt. Col. Kuhl was the manager of the National School of Business in Middlesboro, Ky., from 1950 to 1952 and served in the Army from 1952 to 1972. She then worked for the Veterans Administration in Atlanta and in Washington, D.C., from 1972 to 1977.
She began her training at Fort Lee, Va., and was a signal center officer at the Joint Communication Agency at Fort Ritchie in Maryland. She was the commanding officer of a WAC Detachment at Fort Dix, N.J., and worked in recruitment in Tennessee and North Carolina.
She was the first female adjutant of a male training brigade, the 1st Engineer Training Brigade, at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and served as chief of Women's Army Corps basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama.
She was assigned as personnel staff officer at Third Army Headquarters in Fort McPherson, Ga. in 1969. She graduated from the WAC Recruiting Indoctrination Center course at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana and received a bachelor of science degree in 1966 from Drury College in Springfield, Mo. She completed the Adjutant General Officer Career correspondence course.
Lt. Col. Kuhl received the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
A member of Grace Baptist Church in Bowie, she enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Surviving are her husband, George H. Kuhl, whom she married
June 29, 1957; two nieces; a great-niece; and three great-nephews.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church, 7210 Race Track Road, Bowie. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ravenswood cemetery in Ravenswood, W.Va.
Stacey Lummus
Services for Stacey Kay Keim Lummus, 27, a three-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Bethany Beach, Del., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Ave. SE, Glen Burnie.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial following the service will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Lummus died at the scene of injuries suffered in an automobile accident March 5, 2006 near the intersection of Bay Dale Drive and Broadneck Road.
Born in Harford County on March 9, 1978, she was a member of the Class of 1996 at Fallston High School. She was employed as a veterinary technician at Muddy Creek Animal Hospital in West River.
She loved animals and her family.
Surviving are her husband of three years, Trent Lummus; her parents, Sharon Head of Forest Hill in Harford County and Louis G. Keim of Jarrettsville; her brother, Patrick Thomas Keim of Forest Hill; her step-father, Linwood M. Head of Forest Hill; and her grandmothers, Louise Keim of Jarrettsville and Dorothy M. Collison of Forest Hill.

Kenneth Parks
David Kenneth "Ken" Parks, 66, of Easton, died March 5, 2006 at Talbot Hospice House in Easton. The cause of death is not available.
Born Oct. 22, 1939, in Easton, Mr. Parks was the son of Edna Parrott Parks Colby of Easton and the late William Guy Parks. After attending St. Michaels High School he served for eight years with the National Guard while also starting what became a lifelong career as a service repair technician. He worked for JC Harper TV Repair Service, Mobile TV Services and for 30 years with Sears.
He was a member of the Dorchester Swingers Square Dance Club, the Diamond Laceaway Square Dance Campers, Easton Elks Lodge 1622, Easton Moose Lodge 1520, AARP and the Over 55 Bowling League in Easton. He loved to travel.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Katherine L. Taylor of Easton, Lauren P. McNeal of Annapolis and Kenneth "Britt" Parks of Cordova in Talbot County; a brother, William Roger Parks of Cambridge; a sister, Eunice E. Roe of Easton; and three grandchildren,
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newman Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, where friends may call an hour prior to the service.

Harold Shaw
Harold Thompson Shaw Sr., 92, of Reva, Va., died March 5, 2006 at home.
Mr. Shaw was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Culpeper County, Va. He was the last surviving sibling of nine brothers and two sisters born to the late Phillip Preston Shaw and Minnie Butler Shaw.
He enjoyed fixing things, gardening, farming and horses. He was a thoroughbred horse trainer and self-taught veterinarian.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Ida Mae Brown Shaw; one son, Harold Thompson Shaw Jr. of Annapolis; two daughters, Lebinia S. Dixon of Arnold and Margaret Lorraine Miller of Davidsonville; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and his caregivers, his niece and nephew-in-law, Janice and Joseph Franzello of Reva.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.

John Sullivan
John Lawrence Sullivan, 58, a native and lifelong resident of Annapolis, died of cancer March 5, 2006 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a three-month illness.
Known as "John L., " Mr. Sullivan was born Jan. 11, 1948, the son of Margie Sullivan of Annapolis and the late Ernest Sullivan. He graduated in 1966 from Annapolis High School.
He worked as a truck driver for Chesapeake Rim and Wheel. A talented musician, he played guitar and sang for various bands.
In addition to his mother, surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo Sullivan of Greensboro in Caroline County and Catherine Baker of Stevensville; four brothers, Ernest Sullivan Jr. of Shady Side, Reggie Sullivan of Arnold, Mike Sullivan of Riva and Bo Bo Sullivan of Stevensville; two sisters, Jean Poland of Arnold and Linda Duvall of Edgewater; and two grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Virginia Morris.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., where services will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.

Dorothy Johnson
Funeral services were held this morning at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville for Dorothy Chambers Johnson, 97, of Catonsville and formerly of Sherwood Forest, who died March 8, 2006 in Catonsville. Burial followed in Loudon Park Cemetery.
Born Sept. 13, 1908, in Maryland, Mrs. Johnson was a 1924 graduate of Western High School in Baltimore and continued her education at the old Mercy Hospital. She was a medical laboratory technician at St. Agnes Hospital where she met her husband, Dr. Eliot W. Johnson, who was the first medical resident at St. Agnes.
After the untimely death of her parents in the 1930s, she ran the family business, D. Harry Chambers Opticians on North Howard Street, until family commitments forced her to sell the business.
She was elected a life member of the Women's Auxiliary of St. Agnes Hospital, where she was a past president, a benefactor and chairman of numerous fund raising events. During World War II she was active in the Baltimore chapter of the American Red Cross as a Grey Lady who prepared bandages for the troops.
She resided in a home built by her father in 1922 on North Rolling Road in Catonsville until Dr. Johnson retired from practicing medicine in 1979. They loved the Severn River and moved to their summer home in Sherwood Forest. They then became active members of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Crownsville. For many years she was an active member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Catonsville where she was a member of the Altar Guild and organized church functions.
The couple moved to Charlestown Retirement Community in 1990 where Mrs. Johnson volunteered in the Life Care Center and enjoyed playing bridge and bingo with her new friends. The Johnsons enjoyed extensive travel here and abroad.
Mrs. Johnson was a former member of the Baltimore Country Club, the Woman's Club of Roland Park, the Annapolis Yacht Club and the Sherwood Forest Club. She also enjoyed growing roses, golf and duckpin bowling.
Dr. Johnson died in 1991 after 60 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Johnson of Catonsville and Robert W. Johnson of Ruxton; one daughter, Rita J. Doub of Ruxton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late D. Harry Chambers.
