Kenneth Moore
Kenneth W. Moore, 71, a resident of Ginger Cove retirement community in Annapolis, died Sept. 27. 29, 2007 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from sudden progression of lymphoma.
Born Oct. 3, 1935, in Philadelphia, Mr. Moore was the son of Kenneth W. and Ella Mary C. Moore of Trenton and Princeton, N.J. He was educated at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and Middlebury College in Vermont, and served in the Marine Corps.
A resident of Wynnewood, Pa., for 40 years, he was active in the Wynnewood community and with the Lankenau Hospital volunteers. A longtime member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, he served as a deacon and elder and on many church committees including the Middleton Counseling Center where he was moderator.
He also was a Philadelphia board member of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives. He was named Fund Raising Executive of the Year by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter in 1991.
He was active in marketing and fund raising throughout his life, and was a member of various professional organizations. He also worked for the Curtis Publishing Co. and Smith Kline and French Laboratories before becoming a development officer at the University of Pennsylvania and vice president for development and a senior officer at Thomas Jefferson University.
He was a member of the Union League of Philadelphia. His interests included traveling the world and boating on the Chesapeake Bay.
Surviving are his wife, Martha J. Moore; two children, Stuart C. Moore of Silver Spring and Lesly C.M. Keogh of Candler, N.C.; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Gertrude Wolfe
Gertrude Cannizzaro Wolfe, a resident of Easton for 17 years and formerly of Arnold for 20 years, died Sept. 29, 2007 at her home in Easton. She was 89.
Mrs. Wolfe was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Sept. 14, 1918, and lived in New York until 1970. She was an avid gardener, expert seamstress, a master of Italian cuisine and traveled extensively, her family said.
Surviving are one daughter, Erica Wolfe of Easton; one son, Bruce Wolfe of College Park; and two grandchildren
Her husband, Robert L. Wolfe, died in 1988, and her brother, Salvatore Cannizzaro, died in 2005.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
Bill Bailey
William "Bill" Bailey Jr., 61, a longtime resident of Davidsonville, died from a sudden cardiac event Sept. 27, 2007 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born Sept. 9, 1946, in Kentucky, Mr. Bailey graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science degree in business. He also attended Special Operations Training School at Fort Bragg, N.C.
He served in the Army as a Green Beret with Special Forces and was involved in military campaigns in six of the seven continents. He was an engineer and demolitions expert.
He was also the owner of a bar, an entrepreneur and superintendent of project management for Birchwood Homes.
His interests included Baltimore Ravens football, gardening, golf, reading, playing basketball, exercising and challenging himself. He was a regular at the Green Turtle in Edgewater.
Surviving are his wife, Paula Keenan; one daughter, Dawn Myers of York, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Erin Seif of Collierville, Tenn., and Jennifer Hoey of Columbia; one stepson, Joe Keenan Jr. of Annapolis; one sister, Jean King of Davidsonville; his mother, Mary L. Helmick of Simpson, W.Va.; and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald and Douglass Bailey and Wanda King.

Wesley Burch
Funeral services were held Sept. 21 in Bowie for Wesley Charles Burch, 61, a resident of Bowie for 21 years and formerly of Hyattsville, who died of esophageal cancer Sept. 18, 2007 at Doctors Hospital in Lanham.
Born Dec. 22, 1945, in St. Albans, N.Y., Mr. Burch began his career at age 17, working for Westinghouse Elevator Co. in New York, which later merged into Schindler Elevator Corp. He worked in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area for 42 years as a highly skilled installation technician and elevator mechanic for the company which honored him for his standard of service and commitment to customer needs.
He was a longtime member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 10 in Washington, where he was honored with an award for his years of service.
His interests included all types of sports, crossword and Sudoku puzzles, golf and cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. He was an all-star baseball pitcher in high school.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Sharon Burch, whom he married
May 6, 1970; one son, Michael Wesley Burch of Annapolis; one daughter, Christine Duckworth of Odenton; one brother, Joe Geib of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Madeline McIntyre of Sarasota, Fla.; his mother, Marie Burch of Sarasota, Fla.; and two grandsons.
Burial was in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. Arrangements were by Beall Funeral Home in Bowie.
Phyllis Hardesty
Phyllis L. Jocelyn Hardesty, 73, a resident of Gambrills since 1953, died of cancer Sept. 30, 2007 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 8, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the daughter of the late Alden and Marjorie Jocelyn, Mrs. Hardesty graduated from Glen Burnie High School and the Baltimore Business College.
She was the current president and chief executive officer of Hardesty Construction. She was a former real estate agent with Patterson, Chris Coile and Vantage Realtors for 23 years.
Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren, travel and boating. She was a member of the Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church in Millersville.
Surviving are her husband, Vernon E. Hardesty, whom she married
in 1953; three sons, David Hardesty of Millersville, Wayne Hardesty of Odenton and Douglas Hardesty of Gambrills; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church in Millersville. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Glen Burnie.

John Hughes
John H. "Jack" Hughes, 78, of Apopka, Fla., died of complications of cancer May 30, 2000 at his home after a long illness.
Born and educated in Annapolis, Mr. Hughes owned his own business, John H. Hughes Co., a real estate brokerage firm in Hyattsville.
He was a member and former president of the Prince George's County Real Estate Board and a former member of the Lions Club of Mount Rainier-Brentwood.
He was a member of the Prince George's County Fair Housing Committee and of the Young Republican Club of Prince George's County.
An avid golfer he was a club champion of the Country Club of Woodmore, formerly known as the Prince George's Country Club. After moving to Florida in 1979, he joined the Errol County Club. He was proud of his five holes-in-one made during his lifetime.
He served in the Navy during World War II with duty in the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret C. Hughes; three sons, Craig Hughes of Davidsonville and Steve Hughes and Kevin Hughes of Annapolis; one daughter, Jackie Donovan of Lanham; and 11 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William R. "Huck" Hughes Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Apopka. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are by the Loomis Funeral Home in Apopka.
