Edna Brown
Edna B. Brown, 93, of Baltimore and formerly of Annapolis, died Feb. 21, 2001 at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore.
Ms. Brown was born in Maryland and attended Anne Arundel County public schools. She was a domestic worker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Annapolis.
Ms. Brown is survived by several cousins.
Viewing will begin at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West St., where a Christian wake will be at 6 p.m. followed by funeral services at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m Wednesday in Brewer Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.Evelyn LerpEvelyn G. McDonough Lerp, 86, a resident of Taylors Island in Dorchester County for 18 years, died of natural causes on Feb. 20 while visiting with friends in Melbourne, Fla.
Mrs. Lerp was born Jan. 30, 1915, and raised in Baltimore, later moving to Arnold where she was a resident for 60 years. She then lived in Greensboro in Caroline County for two years before moving to Taylors Island.
A homemaker, Mrs. Lerp was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Elkridge. Her husband, Rudolph V. Lerp Sr., died in 1977.
She is survived by her son, Rudolph V. Lerp Jr. of Taylors Island; her daughter, Agnes Johnson of Greensboro; her brother, George Peglow of Engle; and five grandchildren.
Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will be in Glen Haven cemetery in Glen Burnie.

Clarence Weaver
Clarence J. "Smokey" Weaver, 84, a resident of the Perry Point Veterans Administration Medical Center for the past 18 months, died of heart failure Feb. 21, 2001 at the center.
Mr. Weaver was born in Gordonsville, Va., and raised in Charlottesville, Va., where he attended public schools. He also lived in Odenton and Hillside before moving to North Beach in the 1970s.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army as a Tech 5 infantryman and earned the Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, the Victory Medal and the Europe-Africa-Middle East Theater ribbon.
He was a career firefighter with the Washington, D.C., government and also worked at Bolling Field in Washington, Fort Belvoir in Virginia and Fort Meade. After retiring as a paid firefighter, he volunteered with the Hillside and Capitol Heights fire departments and worked as a truck driver for the Prince George's County Department of Roads.
He was a member of the Capitol Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Stallings-Williams American Legion Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach.
He enjoyed fishing and crabbing and playing the harmonica and jaw-harp.
In 1939, he married
Helen Elizabeth Hetterly, who died in 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy M. Skinner of North Beach and Sylvia L. Gordon of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mount Harmony Lane in Owings, where services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Cheltenham.

Helen Duckett
Helen Grimes Duckett, 81, of Annapolis, died of heart failure Feb. 28, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mrs. Duckett was born March 3, 1919, in Davidsonville. She was a homemaker and a 60-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She was married
on Feb. 28, 1941, to Kenneth Harrison Duckett. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by three sons, Kenneth Wilson Duckett of Ketchikan, Alaska, Stephen Waters Duckett of Annapolis and Gregory Scott Duckett of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Fay Duckett Martin of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Oscar Fay Grimes of Davidsonville and J. Glover Grimes of Baltimore; one sister, Estelle Hall of Annapolis; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Margaret Grimes Shepherd.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mason Erwin
Mason Jane "Pudd" Erwin, 94, of Harwood and formerly of Little Rock, Ark., died of heart failure Feb. 27, 2001 at The Country Home in Harwood.
Mrs. Erwin was born July 23, 1906, in Hope, Ark. She worked as a beautician at Erwin's Beauty Shop in Little Rock where she belonged to First Christian Church. She moved to this area three years ago.
Her interests included gardening and travel.
In 1930 she married
James H. Erwin who died Nov. 18, 1966.
Surviving are two brothers, Edward Collier of Dallas, Texas, and Tom Collier of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one sister, Mary Lou Douthit of Harwood.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Griffin Leggett Rest Haven cemetery Chapel in North Little Rock, Ark., with burial to follow. Local arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home in Galesville.

Dorothy Jones
Dorothy Lydia Jones, 92, of Annapolis, died of natural causes Feb. 26, 2001 at Millennium Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at South River in Edgewater.
Born Nov. 15, 1908, in Annapolis, Mrs. Jones attended the former Stanton School. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Booster Club and the Kings, Daughters and Sons clubs at Asbury United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Non-Se-Conda Social Club. Her interests included sewing.
Surviving are one son, Roger Lee Williams of Reedville, Va.; one daughter, Myrna Harris of Annapolis; and two sisters, Rosmond Steed and Agnes Boston of Annapolis.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West St., where the Christian wake will be at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Annapolis Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Miller's Metropolitan Funeral Home.
Valgene Milstead
Dr. Valgene M. "Gene" Milstead, 82, a retired physician and resident of Heritage Harbour for 21 years, died of natural causes Feb. 27, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Dr. Milstead was born July 19, 1918, in Mount Union, Pa., son of Jessup M. and Avalene Milstead. The family moved to Maryland in 1922 and he graduated at age 15 in 1934 from Lackey High School. He graduated in 1936 from Bliss Electrical School in Takoma Park and worked for the C & P Telephone Co. for three years.
He took pre-med training at the University of Maryland from 1939 to 1941, then was admitted to the George Washington University School of Medicine while serving as a private in the Army's Specialized Training Program. He graduated from GW in 1944.
He completed his internship at the former Emergency Hospital in Washington, D.C., in 1945, then served as an Army doctor at Fort Knox, Ky., from 1946 to 1947.
After leaving the Army, he became a resident in obstetrics and gynecology at the former Garfield Hospital in Washington. Between 1950 and 1970 he operated a private practice in Washington, D.C., and Silver Spring. During those years he was on the staff at the Washington Hospital Center and Holy Cross Hospital and Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Silver Spring.
After retiring from private practice in 1970, he was employed as a medical officer at the civilian gynecology clinic at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, retiring again in 1980 and moving to Annapolis.
Dr. Milstead was a private pilot who soloed in 1964 and flew extensively in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners Association, the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
At the Heritage Harbour community, he was active in woodworking and metal working projects for the residents and served on various committees.
In 1946 he was married
to Mary Ellen Milstead, who died in 1990.
Surviving are one son, Richard Milstead of Clarksburg, N.J.; one sister, Virginia Gode of Marbury in Charles County; and one grandchild.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 tonight and from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., where services will be at noon. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville.
