Muriel Myers
Muriel "Merle" Myers, 77, a resident of Annapolis for 31 years and previously of Severna Park, died Feb. 27, 2001 at Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis.
Mrs. Myers was born on Jan. 23, 1924, in Blue Ridge, Va. and graduated from Colonial High School in Blue Ridge.
She was employed by Anne Arundel Community College as the secretary to the president from 1967 until her retirement in 1986.
Her late husband, Thomas A. Myers Jr. served in the Army, and as a result, she spent two tours in Japan and one tour in Germany with him. Mr. Myers died in 1981.
Mrs. Myers loved animals and known as an excellent cook.
Surviving are two brothers, Fred M. Thompson of Roanoke, Va., and Emory L. Thompson of San Diego, Calif.; and three sisters, Ruth Leah Gunderson of Fillmore, Calif., Esther T. Burch of Charlotte, N.C., and Betty T. Hughes of Monticello, Fla. She was predeceased by seven siblings.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., where the funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church cemetery in West River.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Roland Riley
Roland Joseph Riley, 83, of Parkville, died of pneumonia Feb. 27, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Nov. 9, 1917, in Baltimore, Mr. Riley was raised in East Baltimore and served in the Army's 84th Infantry Division during World War II, fighting at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a letter carrier for the Waverly branch of the Postal Service.
Mr. Riley was a member of St. Ursula Catholic Church, American Legion Post 183, the Railsplitters Society and the Oriole Branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Webster Riley; three daughters, Regina R. Dulaney of Severna Park, Mary K. Notaro of Ocean City and Anne C. Riley of Glen Burnie; two sisters, Madeline Podles of Carney and Patricia Anderson of Pasadena; one brother, William Riley of Perry Hall; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ursula Church, 8801 Harford Road, Baltimore. Burial will be in Moreland cemetery in Baltimore. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 8424 Veterans Highway, Millersville, MD 21108.
Ethel Zoltani
Ethel Irene Vekasy Zoltani, 77, of Katy, Texas, died Feb. 22, 2001 at Katy Hospital. The cause of death was not available.
Mrs. Zoltani was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Beaver Falls, Pa. She retired as postmaster of Conway, Pa.
She was a former member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Beaver Falls and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Conway. She also was active with Christian Mothers, the United Fund, PTA, Girl Scouts and numerous business and community associations.
Her husband, Charles L. Zoltani, died Jan. 30, 1960.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Z. Levin of Katy and Linda Z. Thompson-Harmina of Severna Park; two sisters, Anna Marie Adams of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Olga Lyasko of Solon, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Spratt Funeral Home, 1901 Seventh Ave., Beaver Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Mary's Church, Divine Mercy Parish, Beaver Falls.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Church cemetery in Chippewa Township.

Tyray Brown
Tyray Maria Brown, 16, of Annapolis, died Feb. 19, 2001 at her home. The cause of death is pending.
Miss Brown was born Aug. 3, 1984, in Baltimore. She attended Germantown Elementary School and the Phoenix Center in Annapolis and programs offered by the Children's Guild and Meadow Brooks in Baltimore.
She enjoyed art, basketball, music and playing cards.
Surviving are her parents, Ann Marie and Marvin Edward Brown Sr.; one son, Jaylonte Sublet, and one daughter, Zorva Sublet; her grandfather, Earnest Brown II; one brother, Marvin E. Brown Jr.; two sisters, Lalita and Nicole E. Brown; and her fiance, Albert Sublet IV, all of Annapolis.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Reese and Sons Mortuary, 821 West St., where a Christian wake will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Annapolis Memorial Gardens.
Dolores Callahan
Dolores Jean "Dee" Callahan, 73, of Lady Lake, Fla., formerly of Heritage Harbour, died Feb. 20, 2001 at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The cause of death was not available.
Born in Champagne, Ill., on June 2, 1927, Mrs. Callahan was a waitress at the National Association of Executives Club in Washington in the 1960s and early 1970s. Then she was a home interior products salesman for many years.
She loved crafts, square dancing and bowling and was very active in the Heritage Harbour community.
In 1950 she was married
to Richard J. Callahan.
Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie Ray of Waterford; a brother, Bob Baillie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
She was the mother of Ricky Callahan, who died in 1963, and of Linda Callahan, who died in 1982.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Resurrection cemetery in Clinton.

Gertrude Gross
Gertrude Virginia "Gertie" Gross, 87, of Lothian, died of cancer Feb. 21, 2001 at her home after a two-year illness.
Mrs. Gross was born Nov. 13, 1913, in Lothian. She attended Swann, a private school; Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore; and Morgan State College.
She did private nursing, was a substitute teacher and did domestic work. Mrs. Gross was a noted cook and was featured in various newspapers and books.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Senior Choir, the Golden Leaf Circle, the United Methodist Women and the Trustees Board. She also was a lay speaker and served as chairman of the Stewardship Committee.
She was a member of EBO Arts of Annapolis and the Lily of the Valley Lodge 11 of the Ancient Order of Moses.
She enjoyed sewing and dress and hat design, cooking, baking and counseling and advising young people.
Her husband, James Gross, died Sept. 24.
Surviving are one daughter, Agnes L. Pinkney of Lothian; two sisters, Delores Wooten of Lothian and Agnes Medley at Fairfield Nursing Home in Crownsville; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A Christian wake will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 41 Ark Road, Lothian, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
