LOUISE A. WARNICK
Louise Ann Warnick, 55, Grantsville, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, as a result of an auto accident. See front page.
Born Aug. 29, 1950, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of Elizabeth (Moran) Gracie, Frostburg, and the late Edward "Ed" Gracie. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Nellie Warnick.
Mrs. Warnick was employed as a bus aide for Garrett County Community Action Committee. She loved the children she had every day. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was also a member of Casselman Valley Sportsmen's Club.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth R. Warnick; devoted son, Kevin Warnick and wife Stacey, Frostburg; devoted daughter, Tina Wendling and husband Steve, Accident; two loving grandsons, Michael and Nathan Warnick; two brothers, John Gracie, Cumberland, Jim Gracie, Frostburg; and one sister, Diane Collins, Frostburg.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was held on Tuesday, June 27, with the Rev. David Sandvick officiating.
Interment was in New Germany Methodist Cemetery.

W. MICHAEL HELBIG SR.
W. Michael "Mike" Helbig Sr., 57, Oakland, died Sunday, June 25, 2006.
Born March 17, 1949, in Cumberland, he was a son of Donald E. Helbig, Oakland, and the late Margaret A. (Browning) Helbig.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the National Sporting Clay Association and the NRA.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Sherri J. Helbig, Oakland; two daughters, Teresa Helbig, Oakland, and Amy Helbig, Severn; one stepdaughter, Rachale French, Oakland; one son, William Helbig Jr., Oakland; one stepson, Charles French, Oakland; two brothers, Frederick Helbig, Oakland, and Donald "Douge" Helbig, Oakland; and seven grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oakland, today, Thursday, June 29, with the Rev. Fr. Donald Parson officiating. After the service, his body was cremated.

SYLVIA P. HYDE
Sylvia Pauline Hyde, 89, Cumberland, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at her daughter's residence, where she had resided for the past 18 months.
Born Nov. 30, 1916, in Parsons, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Elmer Moreland and Bessie (Cosner) Moreland Root. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, George Edward Root; three sisters, Ethel Beckman, Juanita Grim, and Vernelda Grim; five brothers, Robert, Carl, Eugene, Lester, and George Root; and two stepsisters, Villa Dittmer and Loretta Robey.
She was a cashier at the A&P Grocery Store on Wineow Street, Cumberland. She was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church, where she was president of the United Methodist Women for seven years. She also belonged to the Gleaners Sunday school class and the sanctuary church choir. She was a member of Cumberland Chapter #56 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert Christopher Hyde; one daughter, Sheree Witt, Cresaptown; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Cumberland, today, Thursday, June 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

BLAINE J. FRAZEE
Blaine Jeremiah Frazee, 81, Markleysburg, Pa., passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
Born Sept. 4, 1924, in Friendsville, he was a son of the late Hiram and Edith Teets Frazee.
Mr. Frazee attended the Union Chapel Church. He was a lumber inspector for Sam Frazee, Troy Friend, and numerous other lumber companies in the area.
Mr. Frazee was a United States Army veteran who served as a staff sergeant during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He was tank commander and a driver with the first and second armored divisions, and was a member of the first United States forces to enter Berlin.
He graduated from Friendsville High School, class of 1941. He enjoyed gardening and planting trees and watching them grow.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta Kathryn Savage Frazee; two sisters, Opal Sisler and Amy Friend; and one brother, Glen Frazee.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his son, Larry Blaine Frazee of Markleysburg; five brothers, Emerson Frazee and wife Betty of Oakland, and Paul Frazee and wife Leona, Merle Frazee and wife Janice, Dale Frazee and wife Linda, and Ward Frazee and wife Carol, all of Friendsville; and two sisters, Eileen Capel and husband Bill of Ridgeley, W.Va., and Linda Sechler and husband Delbert, Barberton, Ohio.
Friends were received at the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, Farmington, Pa., where a service was held Friday, June 16, with the Rev. Chester Cover and Rev. Wendell Cover of-ficiating.
Interment followed in the Thomas Cemetery.
ELAINE TIMMERMAN
Elaine Timmerman, 76 Deer Park, died Tuesday June 27, 2006, at her residence.
Born March 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Edward Madigan and Hilda (Moon) Madigan of Oakland. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Timmerman was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Harold Timmerman; one son, Roger Timmerman and wife Dianna, Oakland; two daughters, Gayle Richter and husband Ron, Oakland, and Karen Wagner and husband Larry of Westminster; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Burdock-Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Friday, June 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joe Robinette and Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery.
CALEB J. ASHBY
Caleb J. Ashby, 3 days old, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 23, 2006, in Kingwood, W.Va., he was the son of Brian J. Ashby and Kristy L. Goff, both of Terra Alta.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Briana Stevens, Terra Alta; his paternal grandparents, Dewayne Ashby, Oakland, and Betty DeWitt, Oakland; and his maternal grandparents, John and Brenda Goff, Rowlesburg, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, today, Thursday, June 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery.
JoANN MACK
JoAnn Mack, 67, Annapolis, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, from complications of lung cancer.
She was born March 3, 1938, in Oakland.
She was a part-time legal receptionist and a full-time homemaker. She was a graduate of Southern High School, and attended the University of Maryland and Strayer College.
Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Mack, whom she married Oct. 2, 1965; one son, Rick Mack, Chesapeake Beach; one daughter, Meg McAbee, Chesapeake Beach; and four grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, today, Thursday, June 29, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A service will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will immediately follow in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.

MELVIN R. SCHWING
Melvin Raymond Schwing, 81, Accident, died in his home surrounded by his family on Aug. 3, 2006.
Born Dec. 24, 1924, in New Martinsville, W.Va., he was the youngest son of the late Mack and Pauline (Burton) Schwing. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, and two sons, Robert Christopher and Timothy Andrew.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sally Ann (Carr) Schwing, and three sons, Franklin Burton and wife Holly Price, Monterey, Calif.; David Lewis, San Francisco, Calif.; and Thomas Scott and wife Cindy, Zelienople, Pa. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Cassandra Marie Schwing, Ryan Christopher Schwing, and Savannah Aileen Schwing, and a very special friend, Ryan VanNosdeln.
A World War II veteran, Melvin played in dance bands while serving in the U.S. Army. He was a past commander of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, and was a bugler at many veterans' burials and patriotic community events.
Melvin graduated from Magnolia High School, New Martinsville. He was a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University, and was honored as an alumni emeritus. He was a WVU Alumni Band member and an avid Mountaineer fan.
As the music instructor and band director at Northern High School for 27 years, Melvin gave thousands of students the gift of music and an opportunity to travel and march in parades. He was a member and concertmaster of the Accident Concert Band.
Melvin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (ELCA), Cove, where he served as a council member. He volunteered for Boy Scouts and served as a committee member for Troop 82, Accident.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, and a funeral service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA, on Monday, Aug. 7, with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Military graveside rites were accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
