John Foote
John Wesley Foote, 77, of Shady Side, died July 2, 2001 at his home.
Known affectionately as "Pop-Pop, " Mr. Foote was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Davidsonville, and attended Anne Arundel County public schools. He served in the Navy during World War II and received the Asia-Pacific and American Defense ribbons and the WWII Victory Medal.
He was employed as a pile driver for Smith Brothers, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Foote was a trustee and member of Franklin United Methodist Church and enjoyed sports and gardening.
On April 23, 1949, he was married
to Dorothy Foote.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, John R. and Nathan L. Foote of Shady Side, Ellsworth Foote of Churchton and Gordon H. Foote of Linthicum; four daughters, Mildred Dennis of Churchton, Yvonne Thompson of Severn and Joyce C. Scott and Gail A. Tyler of Shady Side; two sisters, Elizabeth Thompson of Annapolis and Rebecca Thompson of Shady Side; 22 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Franklin United Methodist Church, 5345 Deale-Churchton Road, Churchton, with a Christian wake at 10:30 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
George Langford
George K. Langford, 75, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Annapolis, died of pneumonia June 25, 2001 at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, Del.
Mr. Langford was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., son of the late Albert H. and Elsie W. Widmark Langford. He attended the New York Maritime Academy at Fort Schuyler and worked as a marine engineer and director of quality control for the Department of the Navy, retiring in 1976. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II.
He was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Oak Orchard in Millsboro and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine Trottier Langford; four sons, Lawrence Langford of Melfa, Va., G. Wayne and Christopher Langford, both of Deale, and Bruce Langford of Millersville; one daughter, Victoria Broyles of Deale; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River. Arrangements are by Melson Funeral Home in Frankford, Del.

Gene Nicholson
Gene W. Nicholson, 75, a longtime resident of Pasadena, died of cancer July 2, 2001 at North Arundel Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Nicholson was born July 6, 1925, and raised in Baltimore. He served in the Merchant Marine for more than 40 years and for two years in the Army.
He was a lifetime member of the Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Nicholson enjoyed woodworking, gardening and watching and feeding birds. He had built more than 30 birdhouses.
In 1954 he married
Alberta Marie Hudson, who died in 1998.
Surviving are one brother, William Bryce Nicholson of Short Hills, N.J.; and five sisters, Shirley Irvine, Janet Dutton and Eloise Weber of Severna Park, Emmye Coughlin of Chandler, Ariz., and Marjorie Ries of Studio City, Calif.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glen Haven cemetery in Glen Burnie.
Henrietta Sherbert
Henrietta Louise "Henny" Sherbert, 69, died of cancer July 3, 2001 at her Edgewater home.
Born April 23, 1932, in Baltimore, Mrs. Sherbert graduated from Southern High School in 1950. She resided in Edgewater for 41 years, and previously live in Riva.
In 1953 she was married
to E. Howell Sherbert.
She worked in the former Britt's department store in Parole and at the former Magruder's grocery store for a number of years.
She enjoyed camping with her grandchildren and friends.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Dennis H. Sherbert of Stevensville and Brian H. Sherbert of Wye Mills; one stepson, Douglas H. Sherbert of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sisters, Deloris Phillips of Dundalk and Janet Buehner of Baltimore; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Lakemont cemetery in Davidsonville.

Barbara Snider
Barbara A. Snider, 59, of Edgewater and formerly of northern Virginia, died of natural causes July 3, 2001 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Mrs. Snider was born March 8, 1942, in Norwalk, Conn., and was a homemaker. She enjoyed golf, boating and volunteering with the Caring Collection organization, which makes stained glass suncatchers and other items to benefit cancer research.
She is survived by her husband, William Snider; one son, Gregory Swartz of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Liesl McEwan of Annapolis; two stepsons, William Snider of Lebanon, N.H., and Scott Snider of Dallas, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Catherine Snider of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, William Blore of New Milford, Conn.; one sister, Katherine Pare of Danbury, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where memorial services will be at noon Sunday. Burial will be private.

Renato Trapani
Retired Air Force Col. Renato Victor Trapani, 79, died of heart failure June 30, 2001 at his Crofton home.
A 15-year resident of Crofton, and previously of Bowie, Col. Trapani was born in Vicenza, Italy, on Nov. 28, 1921, and emigrated to this country as a child. He received a bachelor of science degree from Fordham University in 1951 and a master of business administration degree from New York University in 1959.
He served in the Army as a technical sergeant in World War II from 1942 to 1946, taking part in the Battle of the Bulge. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War, from 1969 to 1971 in the Vietnam War, and in Germany, Japan, Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., and New York. He retired in 1978.
His medals included the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and 28 additional decorations and awards.
Subsequently he was an independent consultant for logistics, personnel and education from 1979 to 1990.
Col. Trapani was campaign manager for Audrey Scott for mayor of Bowie. He was a Grand Officer of the Military Order of the Knights Templar; ROTC coordinator of the Retired Officers Association; vice president of the Air Force Association; and a national trustee of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. He also was a member of the Annapolis Lodge of the Sons of Italy, the Lido Civic Club of Washington, D.C., the National Italian American Foundation, the American Legion and the VFW. His hobbies included gardening, reading and politics.
In 1951 he married
Dorothy DeVan Trapani who died in 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Victoria Trapani and Nancy Harper, both of Bowie; one sister, Yolanda Minnehan of Fairborn, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. July 29 at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie. Funeral services will be at 12:45 p.m. July 30 at Fort Myer Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery.
