Michael Carroll
Michael Peter Carroll, 46, of Cape St. Claire, died July 9, 2001 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Carroll was diagnosed in February 2000 with hepatitis C, a virus that can lead to cirrhosis of the liver and liver cancer. Last year
The press published several articles on benefits held by various civic and community organizations to help cover the costs of a liver transplant.
Born Nov. 19, 1954, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mr. Carroll was a self-employed painting contractor. He lived in Binghamton, N.Y., before coming to this area.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a fan of NASCAR racing.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Carroll, whom he married
Nov. 17, 1990; his parents, Norman L. Carroll of Annandale, Va., and Dorothy Carroll Miller of Upper Marlboro; three brothers, Patrick Carroll of Deale, Timothy Carroll, stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., and Robert Carroll of Stevensville; and two sisters, Kathleen Brinkman of Laurel and Linda Sager of Sterling, Va.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., with funeral services to follow. Burial will be private.

Theresa Howard
Theresa S. Howard, 83, died of natural causes July 1, 2001 at the Spa Creek Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.
Born in Bainbridge, Ga., on May 13, 1918, Mrs. Howard graduated from high school in Miami, Fla., and from Ogontz College in New York City in 1938. She also attended Traphagen, a design school in Philadelphia, before her marriage to Robert G. Howard in 1939.
Mrs. Howard moved to Annapolis in 1997 from Sarasota, Fla., where she had worked in real estate brokerage and sales. Her memberships included the Junior League, the Sarasota Garden Club and the Sarasota Yacht Club.
Surviving are her son, Robert G. Howard of Guilford, Conn.; two daughters, Theresa P. Howard of Annapolis and Ann D. H. Bruin of Houston; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Livsey Shackelford and Dyer Shackelford, and two sisters, Dorothy Shackelford and Mary Ann Galloway.
Service and burial arrangements by Advent Funeral and Cremation Society are incomplete. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Josephine Vitch
Josephine Hope Vitch, 85, a 30-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Roscoe, N.Y., died July 9, 2001 at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The cause of death was not available.
Mrs. Vitch was born April 1, 1916, in Schenectady, N.Y. She worked for General Electric in the electrical coil division, making top secret electrical coils that went into the Nautilus nuclear submarines.
She also was a professional seamstress, who made costumes for Annette Funicello, Shirley Temple and the Rockettes.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. John Neumann annex board of directors as well as the Claiborne Place tenants council. She ran weekly bingo sessions for the tenants as well as a monthly coffee klatch and raffle. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading.
On April 30, 1939, she married
Raymond H. Vitch Sr., who died in 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond H. Vitch Jr. of Roscoe and Roland D. Vitch of Waynesboro, Pa.; one daughter, Margaret V. Bunting of Mallacha, Fla.; three brothers, Tony, Steve and Ralph Pasquariello of Schenectady; three sisters, Carmella Stompski and Maria O'Rourke of Titusville, Fla., and Angelena Willman of Broadalbin, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Another visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home on Railroad Avenue in Roscoe, followed by burial in St. Aloysius cemetery in Livingston Manor, N.Y., at 11 a.m.

Luree Armentrout
Luree Elaine Emanuel Armentrout, 57, a resident of Pasadena since 1975, died of cancer July 19, 2001 at Franklin Square Hospital in Rossville, Baltimore County.
A native of North Carolina, Mrs. Armentrout was a professional cosmetologist. She was the owner/operator of two Hair Fare salons, one in Glen Burnie and the other in Sun Valley.
Surviving are her husband, Edward R. Armentrout; her son, Kevin Armentrout of Perry Hall; two daughters, Lora Anderson of Perry Hall, and Darla E. Armentrout of Annapolis; her stepfather, the Rev. Steve Brewer of Lumberton, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late William Armentrout.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at the McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, 320 Mountain Road in Pasadena. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.

Alice Lamb
Alice May Lamb, 74, a life-long resident of Annapolis died July 19, 2001 of a heart attack at the Spa Creek Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.
Mrs. Lamb graduated from Annapolis High School, Class of 1945.
She worked for the federal government in a clerical position.
She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Edgewater. She enjoyed gardening, reading and boating.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Albert E. Lamb; two brothers, Jack Wagner of Stuart, Fla., and Jerry Wagner of Kentucky; one sister, Nancy Sweany of Mentor, Ohio. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Sears.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, where the funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be private.

Ernestine Mackey
Ernestine A. Mebane Mackey, 74, a resident of Annapolis since the early 1970s, died of cancer July 18, 2001 at the Crofton Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Mackey was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Savannah, Ga. She received her undergraduate degree from the District of Columbia Teachers' College and a master's degree from Howard University.
She was a retired school teacher and principal from the D.C. school system, retiring in the 1980s. Later she was a substitute teacher in the Anne Arundel County public schools.
Mrs. Mackey attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and spending time with her family.

Also surviving are three sons, John E. Mebane of Silver Spring, G. Lamont Mebane of Germany and Bobby M. Mebane of Annapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. A funeral Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
