Clarence Johnson
Clarence Robert "Bob" Johnson, 58, of Annapolis and former longtime resident of Edgewater, died Aug. 14, 2001 at his home after a long illness with cancer.
Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 8, 1942, in Prince George's County and raised in West Lanham Hills before moving to Edgewater in 1966.
He retired last year from Giant Food, where he was employed as a tractor trailer driver.
His hobbies were street rodding, boating and working in his garden and yard.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Johnson; one daughter, Terry Porter of Calvert County; his mother, Marian Johnson of Leonard, Texas; a step-daughter, Robyn Swart of Centreville; a sister, Peggy Lorenz of Leonard; one brother, Wayne Johnson of Mayo; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 122 Bayard Road, Lothian.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Anne Arundel County Unit, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.
Richard Maucere
Retired Army Lt. Col. Richard B. Maucere, 72, of Odenton, died of cancer Aug. 13, 2001 at his home.
Born Sept. 24, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Lt. Col. Maucere served in the Army for 26 years. He received the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal and many other military awards for service around the world.
He was a member of the Retired Officers' Association and the Reserve Officers' Association. He enjoyed gardening, reading, spending extended periods at the beach in Maryland and Delaware and being with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Edith Maucere; one son, Ronald Maucere of Silver City, N.C.; one daughter, Teresa M. Richsell of Annapolis; one sister, Denyse Hurlebaus of Bethesda; and one grandchild.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, where services will follow. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville.

Carl Blair III
Services for Carl Rogers "Buddy" Blair III, 46, of Gillette, Wyo., and formerly of Severna Park, were held Aug. 11, 2001 at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
Mr. Blair died of heart failure Aug. 3 at his sister's home in Pasadena.
Born Sept. 28, 1954, in Atlanta, Ga., he grew up in Severna Park, graduated from Severna Park High School and attended Anne Arundel Community College.
He was employed for 20 years in management with Stidham Tire and Merchant's Tire in Annapolis. For the last five years he was a foreman for a mining company in Gillette.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, sports and travel.
Surviving are three children, Adam and Ashley Blair and Noelle Lucas, all of Pasadena; his mother, Mary Ann Blair of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Corinne Will of Pasadena, Anne Clauss of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Edie Fink of Annapolis; and one brother, Chris Blair of Severna Park.
Burial was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
Lori Bright
Lori Elaine Bright, 41, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and formerly of Davidsonville, died of cancer Aug. 10, 2001 at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale after a brief illness.
Ms. Bright was born Oct. 20, 1959, in Salina, Kan., and attended Southern High School in Harwood.
She was divorced from Rusty Jackson of Texas in 1985.
Surviving are her mother, Maxine Bright of Clearwater, Fla.; one son, Jimmy Joyce of Shady Side; and one daughter, Angie Jackson of Texas. She was the daughter of the late Robert H. Bright and the sister of the late Harry Bright.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Lakemont cemetery in Davidsonville. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home in Galesville.

Richard Byrne
Richard Earl Byrne Sr., 65, of Stevensville, died Aug. 14, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. Byrne was born May 20, 1936, in Baltimore, the son of Harry Early Byrne and the late Ruth Langley Byrne. He graduated from City College high school in Baltimore and later attended college in Washington, D.C.
He was the owner and operator of Equalizer Water Co. in Stevensville and Chestertown.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean Byrne; one daughter, Michelle Morris of Brandywine; two sons, Michael Byrne of Stevensville and Richard E. Byrne Jr. of Crofton; a stepdaughter, Theresa Hillenbrand of Preston in Caroline County; a stepson, Clifton Tucker of Sandford, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Bonnie Kleindschmidt of Stevensville.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, where friends may call an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity or organization of choice.
Nancy Cronin
Nancy Date Cronin, 63, of Towson, died Aug. 11, 2001 at the hospice of Stella Marie Nursing Home in Towson of complications from diabetes.
A former resident of Severna Park, Mrs. Cronin was born in Bethesda to Ethel M. Date of Towson and the late Donald A. Date. She was a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park.
Mrs. Cronin was an active bridge director and player in the Severna Park-Annapolis area. She attained life master designation both locally and nationally.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Kathleen M. Newhouse of Edgewater, and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her son, Martin J. Cronin.
Visitation will take place from 7 to 9 tonight at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, 10 W. Padonia Road in Timonium. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at the intersection of Kenilworth and Bosley Avenues in Towson. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

Kevin Dooley
Kevin Patrick Dooley, 46, of Arnold, died of cancer Aug. 15, 2001 at the Spa Creek Center, Genesis ElderCare Network, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Dooley was planning administrator for the Anne Arundel County Department of Planning and Zoning.
"I think Kevin was an awfully important part of this county's government, " said Albert M. Johnston, treasurer of the Greater Severna Park Council. "When you didn't know what to do (with a problem), you went to Kevin."
Born Dec. 2, 1954, and raised in Baltimore, Mr. Dooley attended Cardinal Gibbons High School. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
He lived in Arnold for 18 years and previously in Glen Burnie and Millersville. He enjoyed cooking, meteorology, gardening, cartography, conservation and birding.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Dooley of Arnold; two brothers, Dennis M. Dooley of Spartanburg, S.C., and Timothy F. Dooley of Catonsville; and one sister, Mary Pat Dooley of San Francisco, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mary Aileen Dooley, and his brother Brian J. Dooley, who died in 1996.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7436 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie. Burial will follow in Lakemont cemetery in Davidsonville.
