Vincent Doyle
Vincent Joseph Doyle, 82, of Arnold, died of a stroke Aug. 12, 2001 at Future Care-Chesapeake in Arnold.
Mr. Doyle was born Sept. 4, 1918, and raised in Philadelphia, Pa.. He later lived in Washington, D.C., Takoma Park, Silver Spring, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and lastly in Arnold.
He was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and received a bachelor's degree from George Washington University and a law degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington.
Mr. Doyle worked for the U.S. Post Office's Philatelic Department in Washington, and for Naval Finance in Crystal City, Va.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, both in Silver Spring.
His wife, Catherine Doyle, died in 1991.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Cathy Schlachter of Arnold, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James Joseph Doyle, and three brothers, James, Jack and Charles Doyle.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway near Cape St. Claire Road. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Gate of Heaven cemetery in Silver Spring.

Jeanne Knell
Memorial services for Jeanne F. Knell, 77, of Virginia Beach, Va., were held Aug. 8, 2001 at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Knell died Aug. 7 in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She resided with her family in the Crofton and Annapolis area from 1971 to 1985.
Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Fitzgerald and the sister of the late Margaret Grogan and the late Edward Fitzgerald III.
She attended Baltimore public schools and graduated from the Nursing School of the Hospital for the Women of Maryland. She served as an Army nurse during World War II and later nursed at Women's Hospital and Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
She was the wife of Charles Knell, and the mother of the late Charles Knell Jr., Cindy Franz of Virginia Beach and Barbara Bemis of Pleasant Prairie, Wis. She also is survived by three grandchildren.

Richard Maucere
Retired Army Lt. Col. Richard B. Maucere, 72, of Odenton, died of cancer Aug. 13, 2001 at his home.
Born Sept. 24, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Lt. Col. Maucere served in the Army for 26 years. He received the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal and many other military awards for service around the world.
He was a member of the Retired Officers' Association and the Reserve Officers' Association. He enjoyed gardening, reading, spending extended periods at the beach in Maryland and Delaware and being with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Edith Maucere; one son, Ronald Maucere of Silver City, N.C.; one daughter, Teresa M. Richsell of Annapolis; one sister, Denyse Hurlebaus of Bethesda; and one grandchild.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, where services will follow. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville.

Katherine Anderson
Katherine Gieron Anderson, 83, of Stevensville, died Aug. 12, 2001 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Silver Spring. The cause of death was not available.
Born Nov. 3, 1917, in Baltimore, Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late Louis and Lillian Luczkowski Gieron. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1936 and attended Baltimore City College. During her career, she worked for the former Capital Airlines of Baltimore, the U.S. Information Agency in Washington, D.C., and the Voice of America in Tangier, Morocco.
While in Morocco, she met L. Donald Anderson of Houston, Minn., and they married
on Dec. 17, 1955. Subsequently she worked off and on at United Airlines in Washington, the State Department in Beirut, Lebanon, the Peace Corps in Monrovia, Liberia, and for a long time as an administrative assistant at the former Woodward & Lothrop department store in Washington.
She was a member of the Island Garden Club, the Kent Island Federation of Art and the Queen Anne's County Arts Council and volunteered at Estate Treasures, which benefits the Queen Anne's County Hospice.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kristi Bleakley and Colette Anderson, both of Silver Spring; one son, Laurence Anderson of Crofton; three sister, Dorothy Dabkowski of Denver, Colo., Martha Christopher of Severna Park and Geraldine Awalt of Sherwood Forest; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one sister, Gertrude Cullen, and one brother, Lewis Gieron.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Chester. Burial will be in St. Stansilaus cemetery in Baltimore.

Gladys Bellows
Gladys Elizabeth Jackson Bellows, 90, of the south county and most recently of Annapolis, died Aug. 11, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Bellows was born April 29, 1911, in Washington, D.C. She was a graduate of the former Miner Teachers College, and received a bachelor of science degree in education from Howard University in Washington and a master of arts degree in administration from New York University.
Mrs. Bellows took additional courses at Montgomery Junior College, Anne Arundel Community College and the U.S. Department of Agriculture graduate school.
She taught elementary school and became a science consultant and curriculum writer for District of Columbia public schools. She also taught a science seminar at Miner Teachers College.
Mrs. Bellows helped to establish the first senior center in Anne Arundel County and also to secure the Lula Scott Community Center in south county where she served as president and treasurer of the executive board.
She was a member of the first county Cultural Arts Commission and of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. She was past president of Community Advocates for Senior Opportunities and Services, a member of the South County Seniors and a council member of the Anne Arundel Department of Aging.
Her interests included attending the theater, sewing, playing bridge, writing poetry and church activities.
The widow of Chauncey Bellows, she is survived by a nephew.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 720 Bestgate Road, immediately followed by funeral services. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, 7101 Sheriff Road, Hyattsville.

Timmy Coates
Leonard Malcie "Timmy" Coates, 42, of Tracys Landing, died Aug. 9, 2001 at Chesapeake Hospice House after a lengthy illness.
Also known as "Tim, " Mr. Coates was born Aug. 24, 1958, in Anne Arundel County, and graduated in 1976 from Southern High School. At a young age he worked on a farm and at Happy Harbour restaurant. He served in the Army for seven years and received various ribbons and medals.
While in the military he studied accounting and then worked as an accountant for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C., until 1999.
His hobbies including tailoring, fashion design, drawing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his parents, Alverta Sharps of Shady Side and James Coates of Annapolis; his stepmother, Donna Coates of Annapolis; two sisters, Mary "Jackie" Coates of Sunderland and Sylvia Griffin of Lothian; and three brothers, Nathan Coates of Huntingtown, John Coates of Shady Side and Marvin Coates of Fort Washington.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, where he was a member, on Dalrymple Road, Sunderland, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville. Arrangements are by Sewell Funeral Home in Prince Frederick.
