Mary DeLashmet
Mary Burchill DeLashmet, 75, a longtime resident of Severna Park, died Feb. 17, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1926, in Williamsport, Pa., Mrs. DeLashmet graduated from the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked as a nurse for many years in several states.
In 1956 she married
Army Lt. Col. Carl A. DeLashmet and traveled with him to various military assignments here and in Europe. In 1968, they settled in Severna Park.
She served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher and on various boards of Severna Park United Methodist Church. She also worked during many elections as a poll official, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. DeLashmet participated in Harvard University's national longitudinal nurses' health study.
She was an avid bridge player, gardener, knitter and bird watcher.
She was predeceased by her husband and by her brother, Clinton Burchill.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Severna Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be on Tuesday in Arlington National cemetery in Virginia, with friends and family meeting at the Administration Building at 9:30 a.m.

Anthony Marino
Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Anthony Louis Marino, 77, a 15-year resident of Severna Park, died of heart failure Feb. 16, 2002 at his home.
Chief Marino was born Aug. 27, 1924, and raised in Omaha, Neb. He served in the Navy during World War II and transferred in 1947 to the Army, serving during the Korean War and three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1967 and then worked at the Maryland Department of Transportation.
He lived in Vint Hill Farm, Va., Fort Devins, Mass., Hamburg and Frankfurt, Germany, and Okinawa, Japan, before being assigned to Fort George G. Meade.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, the American Legion, the Sons of Italy, the Good Sam Travel Club, Mars Radio Service, the Capital Beltway Campers and the Lazybones Club.
Chief Marino was past commander and life member of Chapter 23 of the Disabled American Veterans in Greenbelt and was national third vice commander for the Disabled American Veterans.
He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and loved boating and playing bocci ball and softball.
His wife, Rose Marie McCormick Marino, died July 4 last year.
Surviving are five sons, Joseph Francis Marino of Crofton, Larry Charles Marino of Gambrills, John Allen Marino of Gaithersburg, Michael James Marino of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Stephen Anthony Marino of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Marino of York, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at noon Feb. 28 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek Road. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery.

Julie Ramme
Julie Marie "Grandma Julie" Ramme, 75, of Mayo and formerly of San Jose, Calif., died of heart failure Feb. 18, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born March 13, 1926, in Streator, Ill., Mrs. Ramme was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater.
Her husband, Robert Vernon Ramme, died in 1992.
Surviving are one son, Richard Gene Ramme of Mayo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road, Galesvlle, where a Christian service will be at 7 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lima Funeral Home in Santa Clara, Calif., followed by burial in the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
Cynthia Rice
Cynthia Eleasia "Cindy" Rice, 39, of Annapolis, died Feb. 14, 2002 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. The cause of death was not available.
The daughter of the late Tony and Rose R. Rice, Ms. Rice was born Dec. 28, 1962, in Bessemer, Ala., and attended Baltimore public schools. She worked as a cashier at Burger King.
She enjoyed dancing, singing and listening to music.
Surviving are four sons, William and Chris Lovelace of Warsaw, N.C., and Lawrence and Terrance Rollins of Baltimore; one brother, Allen Rice of Annapolis; three sisters, Sandra Johnson of Columbia, Felicia Smith of Annapolis and Joyce Johnson of Bessemer; her grandparents, Mahalia Rice of Bessemer and Lucinda and John Lee of Annapolis; and her great-grandmother, Annie B. Rice of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Reese and Sons Mortuary, 821 West St., where a Christian wake will be at 11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at noon. Burial will be in Annapolis Memorial Gardens.
Edward Sellis
Edward Rance "Big Ed" Sellis, 73, of Annapolis, died of renal failure Feb. 15, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Sellis was born July 6, 1928, in Baltimore, and served in the Army from 1951 to 1953.
He worked at Optic Bindery in Westport for 20 years.
He enjoyed watching television, especially Westerns, sports and old black and white movies. He read extensively and was fond of playing cards and fishing.
He was married
on Nov. 3, 1981, to Frances V. Sellis.
Surviving are three sons, Rance E. Sellis of Annapolis, Louis E. Parker of Baltimore and Trenton E. Parker of Pasadena; four daughters, Robin R. Sellis and Alice M. Neal of Annapolis, Josephine E. Wills of Clinton and Bonnie E. Parker of Glen Burnie; one sister, Pearl Watkins Kyler of Annapolis; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Second Baptist Church, 1808 Poplar Ave., where a Christian wake will be at 6:30 p.m. followed by funeral at 7 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.

David Smith
David Goodwin Smith, 72, a resident of Davidsonville for 28 years, died Feb. 19, 2002 at his home. The cause of death was unavailable.
Born Jan. 14, 1930, in Columbus, Ga., Mr. Smith grew up and graduated from high school in Alabama.
He owned and operated the David G. Smith Lumber Co. in Davidsonville for more than 40 years. He also was a union carpenter who worked on construction of RFK Stadium and the Metro system in Washington, D.C.
He was a Mason, and enjoyed horse racing, gardening, fishing on his boat and racing his pulling truck named "Wicked Man."
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Smith, whom he married
on June 22, 1951; two daughters, Deborah A. Smith of Waldorf and Catherine J. Rossback of Davidsonville; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was the father of the late Donald W., Alvin L. and Barbara A. Smith.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where services will be at noon tomorrow. Burial will be in Lakemont cemetery in Davidsonville.
