Jeffrey Adam Green, 32, of Waldorf, MD, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2014 in La Plata, MD.
He was born on November 10, 1981 in Cheverly, MD, to Terry and Cheri Lynn (Paxson) Green of Hughesville, MD.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his grandfather's Garlen Paxson and Raymond Green.
In addition to his parents, Terry and Cheri Green, Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Kathryn Rebecca Stapleson; sons, Matthew and David Green; stepdaughter Kyrstin Stapleson; sisters, Katie and Lindsey Green; grandmothers, Jeanette Green and Lois Smith (Richard); and extended family members.
Family and friends will be received to celebrate Jeffrey's life on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow to Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.

Leo J. Hortch, 87

J. Hortch, AKA Leon J. Hortsch, 87, of York, PA, passed away March 24, 2014 at Hanover Hall, York, PA. He was born August 9, 1926, on farm in Buckman, MN. He was the son of the late Frank Hortsch and the late Barbara Hortsch.
In September 1945, he enlisted in the Navy, served on various ships and stations, and most noteworthy was the Antarctica 1964-1965. Then he worked for The Weather Service, Upper Air Branch at various locations in the Washington, DC area until 1982. He had served at 24th & M Streets, NW Washington, DC, while in the Navy, from 1949-1951 and again at this location with the Upper Air Branch 1965. This location was the Headquarters of the old Weather Bureau.
Noteworthy experience: In 1949, Leo ran into President Truman early one morning while the President was taking his early AM walk along Pennsylvania Avenue. Leo was transferring to a streetcar on his way to work.
In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Faye E. Green Hortch, brother, Lambert Hortsch and grandson, Allen Harvey. He is survived by his sons, Charles Harvey (Janet), Gary Hortch (Mary), brothers, Lawrence Hortsch, Vern Hortsch, sister, Luella Marthaler, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He loved to fly, held a Private license and was working on his commercial license. While living at Shoreham Beach, he was the Treasurer of their association for 19 years. He belonged to Knights of Columbus, 4th Dog and the Fleet Reserve Association. He was a past member of the US Meteorological Society.
The family will receive friends for a Leo's Visitation on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Rory T. Conley officiating at the Church. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery

Robert Allen "Bob" Hermann, 47, of St. Leonard, MD, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 23, 2014. He was born on May 31, 1966 in Decatur, IL, to Lynnette and Ronald Hermann. He married Melinda Kristie "Mindy" Parks on August 29, 2009 in Westminster, MD.
Bob graduated from Sullivan High School in 1985 and went on to join the US Navy. He served his country honorably from November 12, 1985 until his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer on November 30, 2009. While in the Navy he received the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Navy / MC Commendation Medal (2), Navy / MC Achievement Medal (5), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation (2), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Navy "E" Ribbon (3), Navy Good Conduct Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal (2), Kosovo Campaign Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO Medal, Navy Expert Rifleman Medal, Navy Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon, Naval Air Crewman, and Master Training Specialist. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 2012 and was a Logistics Management Specialist with Naval Air Systems Command / Air 6.7, NAS Patuxent River, MD. He moved to Calvert Co., from Norfolk, VA, in 2006 and enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking. Bob's greatest joy in life was his daughter, Haley.
Bob is survived by his wife, Melinda "Mindy" Hermann of St. Leonard, MD; daughter, Haley Lynn Hermann of St. Leonard, MD; parents, Lynnette and Ronald Hermann of Sullivan, IL; and siblings, Douglas Hermann (Missy) and Michael Hermann (Kim) both of Decatur, IL.

Carroll "Pop" Webster Morgan, 66, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away March 22, 2014 at his residence. Born April 24, 1947 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of Carroll Richard Morgan and Mary Madeline Wathen Morgan.
Carroll worked for 45 years as a brick mason owning and operating his own company.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Southern Maryland Coon Hunters Association, Southern Maryland Horseshoe League and Pop Johnson's Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting coon, deer, elk and bear. He also enjoyed dancing, horseshoes and he loved to make items from wood.
Carroll was predeceased by his father; son, Harrell Thomas Morgan; brother, Richard Morgan and sister Catherine L. Morgan . He is survived by his mother; wife, Deborah Ann Morgan; son, Captain Brian Carroll Morgan (Shannon) of San Antonio, TX; step-son, Alton Emmitt Glaze, III (Tisha) of Hamlet, NC, and stepdaughter, Melissa Lynn Glaze of Birmingham, AL; brothers, Ralph Francis Morgan and Charles Larry Morgan (Joyce) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Joseph Wayne Morgan of California, MD, and 12 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for a Life Celebration Gathering on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, MD. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Michael Tietjen.

John B. Abell, 80, of Clements, MD, passed away on March 22, 2014 at his residence. Born on October 2, 1933 in Clements, MD, he was the loving son of the late John Lee and Agnes Abell. John B was the loving husband of the late Barbara Ann Abell, whom he married in St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD, on June 16, 1956, and who preceded him in death on July 15, 2011. John B is survived by his children; Beverly Abell, John M. Abell, Joseph G. Abell, Charles V. Abell, Barbara J. Norris, William A. Abell, and Robert L. Abell all of Clements, MD, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and sister, Jean Fields of Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas B. Abell, siblings; Betty Lee Sullivan, Agnes F. Higgs, Ann Hope Adams, and Robert Abell. John B graduated from Margaret Brent in 1951 and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, MD. He enjoyed working on his farm, and was proud of all his tractors. He loved cooking, for family, especially during the holidays, telling stories of his life with a big smile, loved to make us all laugh, enjoyed traditional country music, his favorite Hank Williams. He was a very kind and generous man. John B. was fond of going on drives, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his loving family and remembering his beloved wife Barbara. Randy Alan Boarman, Sr., 48, of Hollywood, MD, passed away on March 22, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on October 30, 1965 in Hagerstown, MD, to Thomas H. Boarman and Thelma J. (Pulliam) Boarman.
Randy loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed motorcycles.
In addition to his parents, Thomas & Thelma Boarman, Randy is survived by his son, Randy Alan Boarman, Jr.; brother, Dan "Rocky" Boarman; sister, Lena Beth Bittner (Bradley); and many friends.

Regenia Mildred Hamlin, 91

On Saturday, March 22, 2014, Regenia M. Hamlin, 91, of Chaptico, MD, went home to be with the LORD.
Regenia was born April 4, 1922 in Catlett, Virginia, the daughter of Margaret (Maggie) R. Pollard and Andrew W. Smith. She was the youngest of 11 children.
She worked for 31 years for the Federal Government and retired in 1985.
Regenia enjoyed fishing, sewing, and eating good food with family. She was happiest spending time with her beloved dogs, Princess and Rusty. She was a positive inspiration on the multitude of lives she mentored throughout her life.
Regenia will be remembered dearly by her children: Debra Dent and Ernest Hamlin, her grandchildren: John Montague and Crystal Hamlin, and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and late husband, Ernest, she was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
Services and interment will be private.

Kenneth "Kenny" Michael Woodburn, 24, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on March 21, 2014 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on September 4, 1989, he was the loving son of Debbie Bowles Woodburn companion (Jimmy Knott) of Hollywood, MD, and Charles David Woodburn, Jr. (Marie) of Leonardtown, MD. Kenny is survived by his siblings; Jennifer Ann Rice (Stephen) of Piney Point, MD, Charles David "Davey" Woodburn, III, (Nicole), of Hollywood, MD, step-brothers; Claude Nicholas Burns of Boston, Burke Eugene Burns of Mechanicsville, MD, and step-sister Brittany Marie Owen (Greg) of California. Kenny is also survived by 5 nieces, 2 nephews, grandparents Sara and Charles David "Teeny" Woodburn, Sr., and Kitty and Freddie Bowles. Kenny attended Leonardtown High School and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, MD. Kenny was a kindhearted free-spirit who was loved by many. He enjoyed all outdoor activities with a passion for hunting, and fishing. He especially treasured his many hikes in the woods to collect deer antlers. He loved to free-hand draw and tinker with anything mechanical. He will be greatly missed.
