Samuel Eller
Samuel Eller, 85, of 214 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at his home.
Born Feb. 27, 1911, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Jacob and Bessie Kopland Eller.
He owned and operated Eller's Shoe Repair.
He was a member of the Congregation B'Nai Abraham.
He also was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 212, Loyal Order of Moose; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 694 and Woodman of the World.
He is survived by his wife, Mollie M. Eller; one daughter, Brenda C. Sines of Hagerstown; one son, Dale J. Eller of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at the B'Nai Abraham Cemetery, Halfway. Rabbi Charles P. Rabinowitz will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Louise H. Lemmert
FROSTBURG, Md. - Louise H. Lemmert, 91, of 101 W. Main St., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1996, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born July 20, 1905, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie Lewis Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren A. Lemmert, in 1974.
She was a former school teacher. She was retired as secretary for the United Family Services, Frostburg.
She was a member of Frostburg First United Presbyterian Church.
She also was a member of Mountain Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by three sons, Dr. William A. Lemmert of Tampa, Fla., James R. Lemmert of Hagerstown and Howard H. Lemmert of Frostburg; one sister, Ruth Hanson; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, with the Rev. Steven H. Shussett officiating. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Friends were received Thursday at the funeral home. Mountain Order Chapter 15 Order of Eastern Star held a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Waldemar V. Jones
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Waldemar V. Jones, 84, of Franklin County Nursing Home, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at the nursing home.
Born May 26, 1912, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Donald M. and Lillian B. Young Jones.
He is survived by one brother, Barclay V. Jones, Arlington Heights, Ill.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation or viewing.

Orpha M. Hill
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Orpha M. Hill, 74, of 105 Loudon Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Nov. 12, 1921, in Fort Loudon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Esther Jane Haiston Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel F. Hill, on Sept. 20, 1990.
She was a graduate of the former Mercersburg High School.
She was employed by Fry Coal & Stone Co., P.B.S. Co. and Martin-Marietta Co., all of Mercersburg. She was last employed part-time by Agronomy Inc., Mercersburg.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mercersburg, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, the president of Loyals Fellowship Group and the chairwoman of the Communion Preparation Committee for 25 years.
She also was a member of the board of associates of First National Bank of Mercersburg and president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, Mercersburg.
She is survived by one son, W. Gregory Hill, of Elizabethtown, Pa.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Michael R. Brendle will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
There will be no viewing.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Catherine M. Valentine
BOONSBORO - Catherine M. Valentine, 83, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Home, and formerly of North Street, Maugansville, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at the home.
Born Oct. 28, 1913, in Wolfsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late William E. and Susan Melissa Naille Kline.
Her husband, Russell Theodore Valentine, died in 1967.
She retired from Roy L. Hoffman and Son Meats in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship, where she served as a deacon, was a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Women's Fellowship. She was a former member and deacon at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Boyd of Sebring, Fla., and S. Jean Saylor of Mount Joy, Pa.; one son, Dale E. Valentine of Boonsboro; one brother, Charles C. Kline of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Roy F. Kline; and one son.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Leon Yoder and the Rev. Louis R. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Lemmie Herring
SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Lemmie Herring, 73, of 25733 Military Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1996, at his home.
Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Darlington, N.C., he was the son of the late Darrick and Naddie Hilliard Herring.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from November 1939 to July 1962, when he retired with the rank of sergeant 1st class. He later was employed by the Civil Service at Site "R" for 21 years before retiring in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Elena G. Satti Herring, whom he married June 23, 1953; one son, Edmond Herring of Sabillasville, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a number of sisters and brothers.
Services were held at Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Emmitsburg. The Rev. John J. Cavanaugh officiated.

Howard A. Stokes Jr.
Howard A. Stokes Jr., 71, of 17535 Woodlawn Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 31, 1925, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Howard A. and Sadie N. Mason Stokes Sr.
He retired from Pangborn Corp. after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred E. McCormick Stokes; one son, Roger A. Stokes of Hagerstown; and two brothers, Carl D. Stokes of Hagerstown, and Herbert A. Stokes of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jacob A. Stokes.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward W. Simonsen will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

Lillian O. High
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Lillian O. High, 85, of Falling Waters, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at City Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1910, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Charles O'Neal and Bessie Easterday O'Neal Morrison.
She was employed as a seasonal employee of C. H. Musselman Co. until her retirement in 1978.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by four sons, Leroy High and Joseph High, both of Falling Waters, Calvin High of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Ira High of Sandusky, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a close friend, Troy Pennington, at home.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph High Jr. and Marvin "Brownie" High.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Raymond E. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Marlowe, W.Va.

Nettie E. Chubb
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Nettie E. Chubb, 86, of 612 Lincoln Way East and more recently a resident of the extended care facility of Fulton County Medical Center, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at Fulton County Medical Center.
Born Nov. 2, 1909, in Gratz, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joel and Mary Rissinger Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin B. Chubb, on May 31, 1978.
She was a homemaker. She also owned and operated Chubb's Handicrafts, McConnellsburg, from 1978 to 1992.
She was a member of McConnellsburg United Methodist Church.
She was a charter member of Order of Eastern Star, McConnellsburg, serving as Worthy Matron in 57 and 58; former member and past president of the McConnellsburg Womens Club; former member of Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council; organized 11 girl scout troops in Fulton County; was a former member of the Fulton County Historical Society. In 1984, she was honored as the Woman of the Year by the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by two sons, Don Chubb of Narvon, Pa., and Larry Chubb of Walnutport, Pa.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ted Chubb and Albin Chubb; three sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Longs Cemetery, Halifax, Pa.
Viewing will be held Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jane R. Meagher
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Jane R. Meagher, 65, of 4764 Brian Road, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at her home.
Born in Hagerstown on Jan. 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Virgie Cole Guessford.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Meagher Sr.; three sons, Robert L. Meagher Jr. of Gainesville, Fla., Randall L. Meagher of Lemoyne, Pa., and Richard L. Meagher of Brandon, Fla.; one brother, Wayne Guessford of Arlington, Texas; and one grandson.
Private entombment services will be held in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, Pa.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
