Harold E. Rife
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harold E. Rife, 73, of 1784 White Pine Drive, died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born April 5, 1923, in Letterkenny Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Florence Dice Rife.
He was a 1941 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was employed for 19 years by the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg. In the early 1960s he and his wife established Rolling Acres Mobile Homes Park near St. Thomas, Pa., which they operated until they retired in 1978.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a member of Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg.
He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1509 VFW, Chambersburg; Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg; Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, St. Thomas, where he was a member of the Honor Guard, and the Last Man's Club of World War II Veterans. He also was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 800, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Mickey Rife, whom he married March 12, 1949; one son, H. Eugene Rife of Chambersburg; one brother, Richard D. Rife of Camp Hill, Pa.; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Statler in 1986.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Air Hill Brethren Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg. The Rev. John L. Bundy will officiate. Burial with military graveside services by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

Carl L. Souders Jr.
HANCOCK - Carl Leroy "Sharpie" Souders Jr., 51, of Limestone Road, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at his home.
Born Jan. 30, 1945, in Hancock, he is the son of Carl E. Sr. and Hazel M. Creek Souders of Hancock.
He was employed by the Maryland State Highway Administration as a surveyor for 17 years.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock, where he had been an altar boy for 15 years.
He also was a member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Daniel K. Souders of Hancock, and Raymond C. Souders of Little Orleans.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Souders.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with the Rev. George W. Glick as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.; however, for the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open on Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m.

Richard Weinheimer
SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - Richard Weinheimer, 74, of South Mountain Restoration Center, and formerly of Danville, Pa., died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at the restoration center.
Born Jan. 3, 1922, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Albert and Anna Peel Weinheimer.
He was a railroad worker for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of South Mountain Restoration Center. The Rev. Joseph Caroline will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery.

Grace O. Rogers
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Grace Orth Rogers, 90, a resident of Hoover House, 227 W. Main St., and formerly of 124 N. Grant St., Waynesboro, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at her home.
Born March 30, 1906, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gustav A. and Viola Spangler Orth. She lived her early life in St. Louis, Mo. Her family then moved to Maplewood, N.J.
Her husband, John F. "Jack" Rogers, died in 1986. They were married June 19, 1929.
She was a 1917 graduate of Columbia High School, and attended Syracuse University in New York.
She was a former member of Morrow Memorial Methodist Church in Maplewood. After moving to Waynesboro, she became a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, and the 3-M Sunday School Class.
She also was a member of Waynesboro College Club, Friends of the Library in Waynesboro, Antietam Garden Club and National AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Grace R. Brown of Waynesboro, and Suzanna R. Cook of Pennington, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley R. Nester.
Services will be held Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 W. North St., Waynesboro. Kim L. Blocher, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery in Maplewood.
There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Walter M. Mellott
HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Walter M. "Johnny" Mellott, 89, of Hustontown, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born Jan. 22, 1907, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late Jonas and Miriam Mellott Mellott.
His wife, Wilhelmina Wilson Mellott, died in 1982.
He was a lifelong farmer, and retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. He later worked for D.W. Miller Inc. in Huntingdon, Pa., in highway construction.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Mercersburg Sportsmen Club.
He is survived by four daughters, Miriam Keebaugh of Carmichaels, Pa., Nancy Thomas of Wells Tannery, Pa., Frances Mellott and Lois Clark, both of Hustontown; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. His remains will be cremated.

Cornelia J. Taylor
Cornelia J. Taylor, 85, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 1911, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lowell Howard and Edith Pearl Shreiner Taylor.
She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Marlowe A. Taylor of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Jeannette Taylor and one brother, Winton O. Taylor.
Private services will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard Kroll will officiate.

Glenda J. Cooper
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Glenda June Cooper, 57, of Blue Ridge Acres, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Loudoun Hospital Center, Leesburg, Va.
Born June 2, 1939, in Sandy Hook, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Daniel and Daisy Evelyn Bolinger Clark.
She was formerly employed by the Leesburg Telephone Co. for 13 years. She also worked for the National Geographic Society for five years.
She was a member of Rosemont Alliance Church, Rosemont, Md.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Cooper; four sons, Timothy E. Clark, Joseph D. Cooper, Jeffrey A. Cooper, all of Brunswick, and Michael G. Cooper of Trego, Md.; two sisters, Geneva Clark Peyton of North Beach, Md., and Martha Clark Keyes of Leesburg, Md.; one half sister, Arvella Mumaw of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three brothers, Wayne D. Clark of Rosemont, Earle L. Clark Sr. of Brunswick, and Alan D. Clark Sr. of Hagerstown and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William M. Clark and Joseph A. Clark; three half brothers, Alex Clark, Douglas Clark and Ward Clark; and one half sister, Maude Frizell.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Rosemont Alliance Church, Rosemont. The Rev. Kevin Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville Heights, Md.
The family will receive friends at John I. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Harry T. O'Donnell
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harry T. O'Donnell Sr., 72, of 335 East Washington St., died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at his home.
Born Nov. 7, 1924, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William D. and Florence E. Hock O'Donnell.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, for 22 years. He was the Saxon at the church.
He was a former LOOM 842, Chambersburg.
He was an orderly at Chambersburg Hospital from 1950 to 1972, and the school crossing guard from 1980 until the present.
He was survived by his wife, Mary E. Anderson O'Donnell; four daughters, Deborah Bones of Pittsburgh, Lila May Reitz of North Carolina, Donna Ann Faust of Hagerstown, and Barbara A. Mowen of Marion, Pa.; five sons, Terry Leon O'Donnell of Chambersburg, Bradley Allan O'Donnell at home, Harry Theadore O'Donnell Jr. of Chambersburg, Robert B. O'Donnell of Shippensburg, Pa., and Anthony Wayne O'Donnell of Quincy, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Marlin Poe and Linda Morrow, both of Chambersburg; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church Chapel, 43 West Washington St., Chambersburg. Pastor Karen Minnich-Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
