Max C. Bumbaugh
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Max C. Bumbaugh, 61, of 3326 Anthony Highway, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1935, in Pond Bank, Pa., he was the son of the late Oscar M. and Margaret I. Shaffer Bumbaugh.
He was a 1955 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He attended Franklin County Vo-Tech School.
He was first employed by Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, Pa., and then by Casting Technologies, where he started in the foundry and then became an office worker.
He was a member of Pond Bank Mennonite Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He also served on the trustees and church board.
He was a member of Order of the Owls Nest 1073, Waynesboro, and National AARP. He was a life member of Mont Alto Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Edith Bragunier Bumbaugh, whom he married on June 14, 1958; three sons, Jeffrey L. Bumbaugh of Chambersburg, Monte E. Bumbaugh and Clay D. Bumbaugh, both of Pond Bank; two sisters, Leah J. Kauffman and Sandra D. Cook, both of Mont Alto, Pa.; one brother, Ray E. Bumbaugh of Waynesboro; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rachel L. Baker.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Menno Sollenberger and the Rev. Mervil R. Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mildred E. Stepler
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Mildred Elizabeth Stepler, 89, of Piney Mountain Home and formerly of 42 Rose St., Chambersburg, Pa., died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 7, 1907, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Susan Miller Johns.
Her husband, Harry A. Stepler, died in 1961.
She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen L. Brown of Chambersburg; two sons, Harry A. Stepler Jr. and Robert E. Stepler, both of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m.

Albert G. Stotelmyer
Albert G. "Ike" Stotelmyer, 75, of 13115 Greencastle Pike, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 3, 1921, in Washington County, he was the son of the late John and Kitty Hains Stotelmyer.
He was employed by Danzer Metal Works, and earlier worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring from the railroad after 30 years of service.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Clear Spring American Legion Post 222.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Stotelmyer; two daughters, Kathy Walters and Kitty Divelbliss, both of Hagerstown; one son, John Sprecher of Hagerstown; one brother, Leroy Stotelmyer of Boonsboro; two step sisters; three step brothers, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Flora Roberson.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Church Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Clear Spring American Legion Post 222.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Edward P. Davis Jr.
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Edward Percy Davis Jr., 72, of Avon Bend, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born Dec. 16, 1924, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Edward P. Sr. and Mable Barnhart Davis.
He worked as a district manager of restaurants in Florida for many years.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Cora Mae Moats Davis; five daughters, Brenda Davis of Florida, Diane LuBurtia of St. Louis, Lisa Ecoff of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Coggins of Gainesville, Va., and Joanie Davis, at home; three sons, Ronnie Davis of Catlin, Va., Edward P. Davis III and Lynn Davis, both of Illinois; four step children, Janice Shelton of Ocala, Fla., Rhonda Ritter of San Francisco, Pamela Moore of Luray, Va., and Billy Jackemeyer of Warrenton, Va.; one sister, Shirley Latta of Florida; one half-brother, Herbert Minton of Miami; and 16 grandchildren.
Service and burial will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation.

Lillis C. Mason
CAVETOWN - Lillis Catherine Mason, 82, of Cavetown, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 2, 1915, in Mount Aetna, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Laura G. Shoop Detrow.
Her husband, Robert Eugene Mason, died Feb. 25, 1949.
She was employed at Cavetown Cannery.
She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Cavetown.
She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Co.
She is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Mason Lewis of Cavetown, and Phyllis R. Mason Lewis of Smithsburg; one sister, Lorraine Miller of Mapleville, Md.; one brother, Harry Detrow of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Bond and Caroline Bussard; and two brothers, Levi Detrow and John Detrow.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. Ron E. Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Walter M. Leyh
MENTOR, Ohio - Walter M. Leyh, 74, of Mentor, and formerly of Willowick, Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 9, 1922, in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Conrad J. and Lonie Leyh.
He was a machinist for Parker Hannifin, Cliff Division, in Eastlake, Ohio, retiring in 1982 after 20 years of service.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Ordnance Unit in Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Helen J. Myers Leyh; one daughter, Terry Talbert of Hagerstown; one son, Ralph K. Leyh of Mentor; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Leyh.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., in Willoughby, Ohio. The Rev. Russell E. Martin will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from noon to 2 p.m.

Mollie M. Eller
Mollie Marie Eller, 70, of 214 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 16, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Mary E. Alshire Burger.
Her husband, Samuel Eller, died in 1996.
She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Lodge 694 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda C. Sines of Hagerstown; one brother, Robert Burger of Pensacola, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Dean Snyder
LYKENS, Pa. - Dean Snyder, 94, of 406 Market St., died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at his home.
He was a funeral director with John M. Shultz Funeral Home, his family's business in Lykens.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Tower City, Pa.
He also was a member of the Lions Club.
He and his wife had perfect attendance at the annual Churchey family reunions in Hagerstown and annually participated in Sharpsburg Memorial Day events and the 1936 Boonsboro High School graduating class reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Churchey Sigmund Snyder; two daughters, Nancy T. Snyder of Berwyn, Pa., and Joan S. Copeland of Havertown, Pa.; one son, Dale R. Snyder of Middletown, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Linda L. Flynn of Seminole, Fla.; one stepson, William E. Sigmund of Dauphin, Pa.; one sister, Pauline Kopp of Tower City; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church of Tower City, 400 E. Grand Ave., Tower City.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m at the John M. Shultz Funeral Home, 406 Market St., Lykens, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
