Pearl E. Sigler
Pearl Elizabeth Sigler, 93, of 211 Stonecroft Court, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at her home.
Born Dec. 15, 1902, in Bridgeport, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Cora Louise Corderman Durbin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles I. Sigler, in 1978.
She was a member of St. James Brethren Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Mary Smith, Helen Smith, June Jamison, all of Sharpsburg, Ruth Litten, Wanda Winters, both of Hagerstown and Betty Daley of Greencastle, Pa.; three sons, Howard Sigler of Jasper, Ala., Russell Sigler of Tacoma, Wash. and Donald Sigler of Damariscotta, Maine; six sisters, Ruth Shank, Louise Durbin, Betty Pickens, Margaret Gearhart, Nancy Starliper, all of Hagerstown and Mable Taylor of Bloomsfield, Pa.; one brother, Harold Durbin of St. James, Md.; 28 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Sigler and Layton Sigler; one sister, Ethel Swartz; two brothers, Oscar Durbin and Roy Durbin; and three grandchildren.
Serivces will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Brian H. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul N. Heltzel
Paul Nevin Heltzel, who died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, is survived by a brother, Joseph Heltzel of Codorus, Pa.
Catherine L. Garten
DELAND, Fla. - Catherine Leota Garten, 88, of DeLand and formerly of Bolivar, W.Va., died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at Volusia Medical Center, Orange City, Fla.
Born Sept. 20, 1908, in Burkittsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Lester and Bela Elmira Painter Lemon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Garten in 1981.
She was a member of Bolivar United Methodist Church since 1938. She also was a member of the Pollyanna Class and W.S.C.S. of the church.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty June Thompson of Amber, Pa.; one son, Edward H. Garten of Deltona, Fla.; three grandchildren, Pamela Miller, Howard Thompson and Catherine Thompson; five step grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard L. Lemon.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Daniel L. Montague III and the Rev. Alfred P. Collins will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Samuel H. Lefever
Samuel Herr Lefever, 98, of 1126 Luther Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born July 9, 1898, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Benjamin C. and Jeanette May Mentzer Lefever.
His first wife, Esther S. Baker Lefever, died in 1958.
His second wife, Ruth Love Lefever, died in 1986.
He was chief clerk for Western Maryland Railway, retiring after 43 years of service.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport.
He was one of the organizers of Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
He also was a member of Medairy Lodge 140 A.F.&A.M. of Williamsport, Christian Ardinger S.A.R. Chapter, and Hagerstown Historical Society.
He is survived by two daughters, Jacquline Hales of Springfield, Pa., and Joyce L. Kee of New Castle, Del.; one son, James B.H. Lefever of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Medairy Lodge 140 A.F.&A.M. will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Achsah Schetrompf
Achsah Schetrompf, 89, formerly of 1145 Kuhn Ave., Hagerstown and Warfordsburg, Pa., died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 27, 1907, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Mary E. Powell Bishop.
Her husband, Guy L. Schetrompf, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Alma E. Hann of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Marshall H. Bishop of Warfordsburg; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William C. Mielke will officiate. Burial will be in Mayes Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Albert F. Draper
BOONSBORO - Albert Francis Draper, 63, of 18317 Manor Church Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 26, 1933, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Harry Hawbaker Draper and Harriet Catherine Showman Draper.
He recently retired from Sire Power in Tobyhanna, Pa.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Shelva Jean M. Pierce Draper, whom he married May 15, 1959; one daughter, Michelle M. Draper of Hagerstown; two sons, Kenneth A. Draper of Oxford, N.J., and Michael A. Draper of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; five sisters, Launa Mellott of Boonsboro, Mary Dieke and Norma Jane Ziegler, both of Hagerstown, Martha Eckstine of Chesapeake, Va., and Irene Phillips of California; five brothers, Melvin Draper of Sharpsburg, Robert Draper of Baltimore, Roger Draper of Las Vegas, Glen Draper of Bridgewater, Va., and Terry Draper of Keedysville; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emory Draper and Wayne Draper.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

Catharine M. Schleigh
Catharine M. Schleigh, 96, formerly of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born Oct. 15, 1900 in Olean, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George P. and Delia Kane Deuter.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen E. Gossard of Hagerstown; three sons, Charles M. Schleigh and Robert G. Schleigh, both of Hagerstown, and Thomas A. Schleigh of San Antonio; one brother, Bernard Deuter of Buffalo; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard E. Schleigh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George Limmer as celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., today from 7 to 9 p.m., with prayers at 6:45 p.m.

Gwendolyn C.T. Stoner
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Gwendolyn C. Talhelm Stoner, 82, of 424 N. Allison St., died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 18, 1914, in State Line, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Maude V. Beard Talhelm.
Her husband, John Stoner, preceded her in death.
She was employed at Fairchild in Hagerstown in the assembly section for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191 in Waynesboro, Fairchild Oldtimers Club in Hagerstown, American Legion Post 373 Auxiliary in Greencastle; and the National AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn V. Talhelm of Orange City, Fla.; one son, Tony Stoner of Greencastle; two sisters, Evelyn Petersen of Hagerstown and Winifred G. Helman of Waynesboro; one brother, Harry Talhelm of Greencastle; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, Geraldine Dehl, Anna L. Talhelm, and Judy Grace; two sons, Walter Stoner and Robert Stoner; three sisters, Lauren Talhelm, Mary Talhelm and Dorothy Talhelm; four brothers, John Talhelm, Harold Talhelm Sr., Kenneth Talhelm and Melvin Talhelm; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Gregory A. Helman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Howard W. Hurley
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Howard W. Hurley, 73, a resident of Caledonia Manor Nursing Home, and formerly of State Line, Pa., died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at the nursing home.
Born May 13, 1923, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Carroll and Alice Andrews Hurley.
His wife, Ruth V. McCleary Hurley, died in 1991. They were married Aug. 14, 1949.
He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot as a refurbisher of tanks and other military vehicles for more than 23 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, attending the Eunice Bible Class in Fayetteville.
He also attended the Ruritan Club in State Line.
He is survived by one son, Edwin R. Hurley of Minot, N.D.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. Richard B. Cartwright, the Rev. R. Edward Cope and the Rev. Guy W. Camp III will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service on Thursday.
Margaret R.J. Burk
Margaret Roseann Jones Burk, 79, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at her home.
Born Jan. 18, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth Dusang Jones.
Her husband, James R. Burk, died in 1982.
She retired from the Hagerstown Police Department, where she was the first female police dispatcher. She was formerly employed in the cafeteria of Fairchild Industries.
She was a member of North American Rod and Gun Club Ladies' Auxiliary, and the Tenants' Association of Potomac Towers. She frequently entertained on the piano for many local functions, and was a member of Potomac Towers Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Lushbaugh of Hagerstown; one son, Lewis Burk of Milwaukee; two sisters, Alta Blalock of Hagerstown and Ruthmarie Fahrney of Harrisonburg, Va.; one brother, Andrew Jones of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Raymond W. "Buck" May, 80, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at City Hospital.
Born March 31, 1916, in Moorefield, W.Va., he was the son of the late George W. and Hattie Donavan May.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military graveside services conducted by Newton D. Baker Post 896 V.F.W., and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
