Edna C. Reichter

WILLIAMSPORT - Edna Catherine Reichter, 94, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport.

Born Nov. 4, 1902, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late E.E. and Annie Virginia Neikirk Reichter.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport.

She is survived by her sister, Ella R. Smith of Williamsport.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Elizabeth Gross; and one brother, Charles A.M. Reichter.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport, Md. 21795.

Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home in Williamsport.

David A. Brown

David A. Brown, 23, of 835 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 14, 1973, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Gary A. Brown Sr. of Hagerstown and Patricia Ann Feeley Brown of Hagerstown.

He was the stepson of Donna J. Brown of Hagerstown.

He previously worked for Senate Masonry of Bethesda, Md.

In addition to his parents and stepmother, he is survived by his wife, Melissa M. Kloss Brown; one daughter, Heather A. Brown, at home; a half-brother, Gary A. Brown Jr. of Hagerstown; a stepbrother, Jason L. Shandoltz of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Doris J. Smith of Hopewell, Pa.; paternal grandmother, Jacqueline Williamson of Keedysville; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Melissa Brown, 835 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Howard F. Lehman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Howard F. Lehman, 94, of 2075 Scotland Ave., and formerly of 2437 Scotland Road, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, at Menno Haven, Chambersburg.

Born Nov. 29, 1902, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Eleonora Frey Lehman.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. Martin Lehman, in 1961.

He was a farmer and retired minister.

He was minister of Shady Pine Mennonite Church, Willow Hill, Pa., for 21 years.

He also was a custodian at Fannettsburg Elementary School, Fannettsburg, Pa.

He was a member of Chambersburg Mennonite Church, Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Martha N. Martin Lehman, whom he married on Oct. 20, 1962; four daughters, Martha Frey and Cora E. Lehman, both of Chambersburg, Eleonora Martin of Manheim, Pa., and Jean I. Hampton of New Providence, Pa.; one son, Lewis M. Lehman of Hagerstown; one sister, Rhoda F. Herr of Gettysburg, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jay L. Lehman; one sister; and four brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Jerry Roth, Preston Frey and Chaplain Vernon Isner will officiate.

Burial will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Donald M. Leicht

KEEDYSVILLE - Services for Donald Melvin Leicht, 65, of 6455 Coffman Farms Road, who died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, will be today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

The Rev. James G. Kirk will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.

Mary M. Bray

WILLIAMSPORT - Mary Miller Bray, 84, of 16505 Virginia Ave., and formerly of 220 Ridgley Road, Timonium, Md., died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 7, 1913, in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Maurice T. and Mary Ann Harris Miller.

Her husband, Henry G. Bray, died in 1996.

She was a 1935 graduate of Wellesley College.

She was a member of Towson Presbyterian Church.

She also was a member of Towson Golf and Country Club, and Wellesley College Alumni.

She is survived by two sons, Philip J. Bray of Hagerstown, and Henry G. Bray Jr. of Kingwood, Texas; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Miller.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Chesapeake Ave., Towson.

The Rev. Thomas C. Willadsen will officiate.

Burial will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Evelyn M.P. Rouse

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Evelyn M. Parsons Rouse, 63, of 316 Boyd Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at her home.

Born Feb. 9, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Edna M. Braden Parsons.

She was supervisor of Martinsburg City Parking Authority, retiring in March 1995 after 22 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy J. Rouse of Martinsburg, and Penny M. Vann of Winchester, Va.; three sons, Mitchell J. Rouse, Timothy P. Rouse and Brian L. Rouse, all of Martinsburg; two brothers, Melvin J. Parsons and William D. Parsons, both of Weirton, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen M. Rouse.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pikeside United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Michael G. Marsh will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, Tenn. 38101.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

Enid L. Eshelman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Enid Louise Eshelman, 78, of 546 S. Second St., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born Sept. 5, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Preston L. and Mabel A. Richardson Eshelman.

She was a retired, self-employed music teacher in Chambersburg.

She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She attended Assembly of God churches in the area and had perfect Sunday school attendance for 57 years.

She sponsored several churches, the last of which was in Pino Suarez, Jalisco, Mexico, that was completed on Dec. 30, 1996.

She is survived by one niece.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. and the Rev. LeRoy W. Wiley will officiate.

Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing.

It was her request that flowers be omitted.

Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Assembly of God Church, Mission Fund, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Jack E. Barr

Jack Ellsworth Barr, 70, of 20921 Fish Hatchery Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born in Hagerstown on Jan. 2, 1927, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Martha Jane Kinsley Barr.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He began his career as an electrician in the Navy, and was owner and president of M/L Electric Motor Repair Service in Hagerstown, M/L Enterprises in Lebanon, Pa., M&M Motor Repair in Frederick, Md., Hagerstown Equipment Co., and Family Recreation. He was past president of M/L Electric Contractors and Ellsworth Electric Co.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and superintendent of the Sunday school. He had been church council president, lay delegate and state delegate to Lutheran Synod Convention, a Sunday school teacher, and chairman of the Stewardship Committee.

He was a member of the Salvation Army board of directors; a co-founder and on the board of Cedar Ridge Children's Home, co-founder of Cedar Ridge Radio Station WCRH.

He served on the board of San Mar Children's Home, was past president, and chairman of the property committee. He was a member of the YMCA board, and received the National Heritage Award and the YMCA of the USA, was chairman of Chesapeake and Potomac Cluster of YMCAs and representative to the East Field of the YMCA of the USA, co-chairman of the Heritage Club, board of directors, board president. He was an International Service Award winner, founder of YMCA Spiritual Emphasis/Outreach Program, recipient of YMCA State Youth on Government Volunteer Award, and host of the YMCA Summer Kinder Kamp at Barr Farm.

A volunteer with United Way of Washington County, he was General Campaign chairman, United Way president, V.I.P. "Man of the Year," and division chairman, and served on the board of directors, executive committee and as chairman of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

He served on the board or directors of Associated Builders and Contractors Cumberland Valley Chapter; was a Career Studies Center Advisory Committee member; and was a member of Big Brothers of Washington County program.

He received the Sheriff Charles E. Price Award for Outstanding Services to Youth of the Community in 1978.

He was a co-founder of Hagerstown Rescue Mission, and served on the Advisory Committee and was 1986 campaign chairman for the American Red Cross Washington County Chapter.

He was a member of Hagerstown Exchange Club, received the national organization's Community Service Award in 1970, and worked with the Madcap Show and other programs.

He was listed in the National Exchange Club "Book of Golden Deeds."

He hosted international youth delegates from Japan, Denmark, Finland and Spain, collected donated items for missionaries in Mexico and hosted children from Baltimore, Fresh Air Kids.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn C. Barr; five daughters, Jacqueline Barr and Jayne Angle, both of Boonsboro, Julie Strasburg and Jeanine Horst, both of Beaver Creek, and Jennifer Boteler of Boise, Idaho; two sons, John Barr of Clear Spring and Jair Barr of Boonsboro; three sisters, Inez Staeblein of Smithsburg, Jean Schlotterbeck and Nancy Cummins, both of Hagerstown; and 20 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joel Barr.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Cleveland Avenue, Hagerstown.

The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver and Ward Chiderson will officiate.

Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Red Cross, Salvation Army or the charity of one's choice.
