Esther Yetter
Esther Yetter, 98, formerly of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, and a resident of Coffman Nursing Center, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, at the center.
Born Oct. 26, 1898, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Yetter and Lillie Humelsine Yetter.
She was a lifelong farmer and homemaker.
She was a life member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, D. Bernice Reichard and Peggy A. Newkirk, both of Williamsport; one son, John H. Yetter of Frederick, Md.; one sister, Fern M. Springer of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Cemetery, National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Victor Zuck will officiate.

Margaret W.W. McCracken
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Margaret W. Wanck McCracken, 80, of 20 W. North St., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at her home.
Born April 22, 1916, in Towanda, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Clara Christiansen Wanck.
She was a 1936 graduate of Towanda High School.
In her early life, she was employed by Vogue Manufacturing in Williamsport, Pa., and later by W.T. Grant, Evans and Chaffee in Towanda.
She was a member of Waynesboro Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Towanda Chapter 76 Order of the Eastern Star, Towanda; Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and National AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Charles P. McCracken, whom she married on June 10, 1937; one daughter, Deborah M. Singer of Waynesboro; two sons, Jack E. McCracken of Forest Hill, Md., and Jeffrey L. McCracken of Waynesboro; one brother, Dr. Walter E. Wanck of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert F. Wanck.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Beverly H. Swope
NEEDMORE, Pa. - Beverly Heinbaugh Swope, 45, of R.R. 1, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at home.
Born Feb. 18, 1951, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Anna May Sheffield of Fort Littleton, Pa., and the late Herman Heinbaugh.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene, Harrisonville, Pa., where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, E. Charles Swope, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1969; one son, Darin Swope of Needmore; one sister, Joyce Stern of New Cambridge, Ohio; three half-sisters, Linda Hershey, Stella Keefer and Marsha McCoy, all of McConnellsburg, Pa.; two half-brothers, Albert Heinbaugh and Edward Heinbaugh, both of McConnellsburg; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene, Harrisonville. The Rev. William Swope and the Rev. Dan Porterfield will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonville, Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
Eva M.B. Rowe
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Eva M. Bumbaugh Rowe, 92, a resident of Piney Mountain Nursing Home, and formerly of Hamilton Avenue, Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Feb. 1, 1905, in Mont Alto, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Creager Bumbaugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Rowe, in 1970.
She worked part time with seasonal employment at Knouse and Musselman's.
She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, and Fidelas Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet M. Rowe and Patricia A. Blount, both of Waynesboro; one son, Ralph L. "Buck" Rowe Jr. of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Michael V. Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to the services.

Andrew K. Pennington
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Andrew Kendall Pennington, 31, of 1321 T St., Northwest, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, at George Washington University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Born Sept. 7, 1965, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Barbara O. Oden'hal Miller of Lively, Va., and the late William Eliason Pennington Sr.
He was a 1987 graduate of C.I.A. College, Hyde Park, N.Y.
He was owner of Kendall Pennington Catering business, which he founded in 1990.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
He was a member of Human Rights Campaign, E.C.R.A., Hash Committee of Triangle, Food and Friends and a major donor to the Victory Fund.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Nancy Carter Pennington of Arlington, Va., and Ann Siler Glora of Boston; two brothers, William E. Pennington Jr. of Hagerstown and F. Gilmer Siler Jr. of Springfield, Va.; one aunt; nieces and nephews; and a devoted friend, Paul J. Sliwka of Washington, D.C.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. The Rev. D. Stuart Dunnan and the Rev. Kenneth J. Dorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
There will be no viewing.

Walter E.O. Dorsett
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Walter Eck Omer Dorsett, 80, of 21 E. Third St., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Thomasville, N.C., he was the son of the late Pharaoh Gray and Emily Pearce Dorsett. He was raised by his uncle, the late E. Carson Dorsett.
He was a 1935 graduate of Thomasville High School. He completed training in fingerprint analysis at the Institute of Applied Science in Chicago.
After high school, he worked for Thomasville Chair Co., then Thomasville City Police Department, where he was a patrolman and fingerprint analyst.
In 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel at Washington, D.C. for the duration of World War II. He also was a diplomatic liaison.
He later entered the U.S. Civil Service, then became records administrator at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., around 1949.
In 1958, he became a salesman for the Mount Airy Knitting Co. of Mount Airy, N.C. In 1962, as manager of Bargaintown, U.S.A., he opened their discount department store in Gettysburg, Pa.
In 1964, he and his wife purchased the former Kauffman's Shoe Store which he managed as Dorsett Shoes until 1970. From 1976 until his retirement in 1978, he managed High's Dairy Store in Rouzerville, Pa. During his retirement, he was a real estate salesman for Ausherman Brothers Real Estate, Waynesboro.
In 1966, he was elected Waynesboro borough councilman from the First Ward, and served as vice president of the council until 1970. In 1968, he led the organization of the Waynesboro Sesquicentennial celebration. He was instrumental in reviving the drive for a municipal swimming pool in Waynesboro, and was closely involved in the planning of Northside Park. He served as a liaison between the council and the fire department and oversaw the erection of the present A.T.H.&L. Firemen's Hall and the adjoining community room.
In 1969, he was elected the first district justice for Waynesboro and Washington Township, serving one six-year term, commencing in 1970.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Thomasville.
He was a member of Waynesboro Historical Society and National AARP.
He was a former member of Waynesboro Lions Club; Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce; board of governors of the Retail Bureau; National Archivists and Waynesboro County Club.
He was an avid golfer and aviator. He played a number of string instruments. During the 1930s, his band performed country and western music throughout North Carolina and on a weekly Winston-Salem radio program.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Prescott Beckner Dorsett, whom he married on June 2, 1946; one daughter, Julie G. Dorsett of Waynesboro; three sons, Walter E. Dorsett Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., David A. Dorsett and Todd A. Dorsett, both of Waynesboro; and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Prescott Dorsett; and one brother, Vern G. Dorsett.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The Rev. William C. Kercheval will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.

Sallie J. Luipersbeck
Sallie Jane Luipersbeck, 90, of Medway Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1906, in Shenandoah, Va., she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Gabriella Dodson Croft.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Luipersbeck, in 1979.
She is survived by one daughter, M. Eleanor Black of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, at the convenience of the family.
