Kenneth D. Barnhart
Kenneth Donald Barnhart, 65, of 844 Spruce St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1931, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lester Henry and Alta Virginia Lum Barnhart.
He was employed by Maryland Correctional Training Center as a fiscal clerk II and retired in 1982.
He was veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War.
He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and taught the Men's Bible Sunday School Class.
He was a member of the American Legion in Baltimore.
He was an avid bowler and sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary F. Barnhart; two daughters, Michelle K. Barnhart and Kathy R. Grove, both of Hagerstown; one son, Kenneth L. "Chip" Barnhart of Hagerstown; one sister, June Webb of Hagerstown; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Lester Henry Barnhart II; one sister, Edna Ridgeway; and five brothers, Ernest Barnhart Sr., Charles Barnhart, Roy Barnhart, Albert Barnhart Sr. and Harold Barnhart.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
The Rev. W. Carl Zinn will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Samuelcee Taylor
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Samuelcee Taylor, 76, a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born April 8, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Leona Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Knoll Taylor, in 1993.
He trained race horses at various locations in the U.S.
He is survived by nine children, one brother and a number of grandchildren.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing.

William C. Briggs
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - William Clair Briggs, 80, a resident of Integrated Health Services of West Virginia, and formerly of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia.
Born Jan. 21, 1917, in Hampden, N.D., he was the son of the late William Ellis and Olive Regan Briggs.
He is survived by one sister, Lorraine Rice of Ocala, Fla.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Georgiana Barnes.
He retired after 30 years as an accountant with the U.S. government, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
The Rev. James Chambly will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Va.
There will be no visitation.
Opal E. Stottlemyer
Opal E. Stottlemyer, 80, of 750 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born April 15, 1916, in Tunnelton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Orin W. and Della Goff Hoffman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Stottlemyer, in 1987.
She was a former member of Grace Baptist Church, Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon L. Horchner of Hagerstown and Carol A. Dunn of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Scott A. Horchner and Christina A. Horchner, both of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel R. Forest, Madeline L. Miller, Esther D. Knott and Dessie Hoffman; and one brother, Donald Hoffman.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. John C. Koontz Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Randal S. Wood
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Randal S. Wood, 32, of Hedgesville, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997.
Born Sept. 16, 1964, in Takoma Park, Md., he was the son of Gene R. and Alice Jane Pohle Wood of Hedgesville.
He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Williamsport.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Linda Jane Hile of Frederick, Md.; and two brothers, Richard Gene Wood of Canada and Ronald Wayne Wood of Wisconsin.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.
Pastor Brian R. Stevenson will officiate.
Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Lon E. Ridenour
Lon Elwood Ridenour, 69, of Mount Lena Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 8, 1927, in Mount Lena, he was the son of the late Welty Andrew and Lela Mae Smith Ridenour.
He was employed by Fearnow & Cline; E.T. Cline & Sons; Shipley Auto Parts; Hess Auto Parts; Hagerstown Auto Parts; Hoffman Chevrolet; and Potomac Edison.
He was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church where he served as deacon.
He also was a member of Big Brothers Inc. and the AARP.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Harriet Winola Staley Ridenour; two sisters, Janice Ridenour Kendle of Mount Lena and Sharon Ridenour Swoveland of Hagerstown, Ind.; and one brother, Harold E. Ridenour Sr. of Smithsburg; and little brother, Harry Lee Edward of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Luther "Johnnie" Ridenour.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Beaver Creek Christian Church. The Rev. J. Mark will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
The family will receive friends following the service, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.

Ethel I. Smith
Ethel Irene Smith, 91, formerly of 7 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at Coffman Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 16, 1905, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Nora Halbert Bloyer.
Her husband, Jessie L. Smith, died in 1991.
She was employed with Washington County Hospital, retiring after 14 years of service.
She is survived by one grandson, Howard Ralls of Florida; one stepdaughter, Sylvia Rowe of Hagerstown; one stepson, Lester Smith of Hagerstown; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Daisy Ralls; and one brother, Wilbur M. Ralls.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery.
The Rev. Wes Johnson will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Jean L. B. Baker
Jean L. Blickenstaff Baker, 58, of Bower Avenue, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at her home.
Born April 19, 1938, in Halfway, she was the daughter of Loraine Arnsparger Blickenstaff of Hagerstown and the late Nathan Blickenstaff.
She was employed by Equifax Inc., formerly The Credit Bureau Inc., in Hagerstown and Martinsburg, W.Va.
She was a life member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of AARP and the Halfway Fire Company Auxiliary.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Richard L. Baker, whom she married Jan. 9, 1960; one son, Richard L. Baker II of Ellicott City, Md.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, corner of Church and Winter streets, Hagerstown.
The Rev. George W. Ennis and the Rev. Darryl C. Zoller will officiate.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
