Catherine K. Wise
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Catherine K. Wise, 76, of Penn Hall, Chambersburg, and formerly of 121 Pennsylvania Ave., Chambersburg, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at Penn Hall.
Born Dec. 11, 1920, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget McCann Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Wise, on April 27, 1996.
She was a 1938 graduate of Carrick High School, Pittsburgh.
She was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for 35 years, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.
She had been a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Chambersburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Witmer of Chambersburg and Martha Wise of Camp Hill, Pa.; one son, John "Jack" Kelly of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Ann Sill of Pittsburgh and Eileen Garrity of Newberry Park, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jude T. Dawson-Amoah will officiate. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Friends may call Monday from 9 to 10 am. at the funeral home.
James E. Needham
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - James E. Needham, 71, of Shippensburg Health Care Center, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Joyce L. Needham will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, Pa. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.
Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cecila J. Flint
OAKLAND, Md. - Cecila J. "Ce Ce" Flint, 47, of Appalachian Crossroads, 360 W. Liberty St., and formerly of the Victor Cullen Center, Cascade, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1996, at Garret County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Nov. 17, 1949, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Josephine Houchens Flint.
She attended the Lochlynn Church of God, Lochlynn, Md.
She is survived by one brother, Thomas Flint.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. Pastor Roger K. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.
Ruth I. Smith
BOONSBORO - Ruth Irene Smith, 82, of Old National Pike, Boonsboro, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 8, 1915, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Otis R. and Esther Rowland Long.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. "Mike" Smith on Oct. 19, 1996.
She was a homemaker. She was well known locally for baking and selling pies.
She was a member of Boonsboro Bible Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Class and worked in the church nursery for many years.
She also was a member and chaplain of Boonsboro Democratic Club and volunteered at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Young of Hagerstown and Connie Mitchell of Jacksonville, N.C.; three sisters, Gladys Hutzell of Boonsboro, Edith Shaffer of Trego and Betty Martz of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ardella Smith and Goldie Gloss; and two brothers, Otis Long and Richard Long.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph Downs will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Robert M. Engle
RANSON, W.Va. - Robert Matthew Engle, 63, of Ranson, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born April 12, 1933, in Mt. Mission, Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James G. and Sarah Elizabeth Dillow Engle.
He was employed by the National Park Service, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War.
He was a member of Four Mile Woods Pentecostal Church, Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was a four-year member and worker of Beware Against Drugs Inc., Charles Town, W.Va.; a member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, Charles Town; and a member of VFW Post 896, Martinsburg.
He is survived by three daughters, Robin Gordon, Tammy Everhart, both of Clarke County, Va., and Angela Argueta of Charles Town; four sons, Robert Matthew Engle Jr. of Maysville, W.Va., Doyle Christopher Engle, David Troy Engle, both of Charles Town, and Mark Todd Engle of Ranson; three sisters, Sarah Penwell of Ranson, Jessie Lally of Harpers Ferry and Ida Mae Engle of Hagerstown; three brothers, James G. Engle of Martinsburg, Shannon Nelson Engle of Leetown, W.Va., and John Paul Engle of Kearneysville, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa P. Engle on Dec. 27, 1969; one sister, Josephine Hardy and one brother, Harrison Engle.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Murrill Hill Church Yard Cemetery, Harpers Ferry.

Charles J. Warner Sr.
Charles Jones Warner Sr., 67, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles Adam and Martha Ann Warner.
He was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College, Elkins, W.Va.
He retired from Commercial Credit Corp. after 35 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served from 1951 to 1955.
He was an active member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
He also was a member of the Halfway Lions Club and served as a Scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann May Warner; one daughter, Kelly Ann Sarno of Goshen, Ind.; one son, C.J. Warner Jr. of Waynesboro, Pa.: two sisters, Anne Wimer of Franklin, W.Va., and Genevieve Roby of Catonsville, Md.; two brothers, Jack T. Warner of Staunton, Va., and John E. Warner of Franklin; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Warner.
Graveside services will be held at North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, W.Va. The Rev. William Hartsfield will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mark W. Hartmann
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Mark William Hartmann, 42, of Huntsville, Ala., died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, in Madison, Ala.
Born Oct. 5, 1954, in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the son of William C. and Dorris Ives Hartmann, of Harrisonville, Pa.
He was a trainer of Tennessee walking horses. He also was a truck driver for Averette Express, Cooksville, Tenn.
He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Christine Peters of Tatamy, Pa., and Maj. Constance Hartmann of Richmond, Va.; and one niece.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate.
Herman R. Spear
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Herman Rester "Dusty" Spear, 69, of Charles Town, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Nov. 11, 1927, in Celina, Tenn., he was the son of the late Herman Myers and Bertha Cain Spear. He was the stepson of Marie Spear of Brookstone, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Colleen Beahm Spear in 1949.
He retired from Potomac Edison Co. after 35 years of service. He also had been employed by the Peoples Supply Co., Charles Town, where he obtained the nickname "Dusty."
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He had the longest span of membership, 40 years, with Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer.
In addition to his stepmother, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Hazel Park Spear; six sisters, Estel Shaw of Delphi, Ind., Inese Cain of Welcott, Ind., Doyle Logan of Montgomery, Ill., Nina Crace of Brookstone, Ind., Shirley Weaver of Bakersfield, Calif., and Wendy Murphy of Palm Desert, Calif.; two brothers, Wayford "Sandy" Spear of Indianapolis and Floyd "Denny" Spear of Lothian, Md.; Clarence Park and Rufus Park, whom he raised; nine nieces; and 14 nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home. The Rev. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Baker, W.Va., at 1 p.m.
Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
