Merritt C. Dickey Jr.
ROUZERVILLE, Pa. - Merritt Carnot Dickey Jr., 79, of 13419 Waterloo Road, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, of injuries received in an automobile accident in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Born April 12, 1917, in Clinton, Maine, he was the son of the late Merritt and Josie Bremner Dickey Sr.
His wife, Dorothy M. Harbaugh Dickey, died July 28, 1996. They were married June 19, 1943.
He attended Clinton area schools in Maine.
He was employed as a machinist at Glide Line "Amp. Inc." until his retirement in 1986. He also ran an automobile repair business from his home for 25 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army from September 1941 to December 1945 as a corporal with the Composit School of Military Intelligence Training Corp. He also was coordinator for the school's reunion.
He was a member of American Legion Post 15, and Eagles Club Inc., both of Waynesboro, Pa.; and was founder, director and a life member of Blue Ridge Summit Sportsman Club. He was named Franklin County Federation of Sportsman Clubs Sportsman of the Year in 1981.
He is survived by one daughter, Diana Dickey Koski of Lee, N.H.; one son, Duane Dickey of Waynesboro; three sisters, Christine Gurney of Benton, Maine, Maxine Boardman of Skowhegan, Maine, and Aletha Veilleux of Waynesboro; one brother, Kenneth Dickey of Zaphyr, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Eugene Cline will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fountaindale Union Cemetery in Fairfield, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Cathleene R. Ardinger
Cathleene R. Ardinger, 44, of 438 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, who died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, was born July 10, 1952, in Frederick, Md.
Mary H. Dobbins
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Mary Hartzell Dobbins, 84, of Shepherdstown, died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at Canterbury Home, Shepherdstown.
Born Feb. 8, 1912, in Shepherdstown, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary L. Hartzell Dobbins.
She received her A.B. degree from shepherd College in 1931 and her master's degree from Columbia University, New York City, in 1937.
She retired in 1976, after 44 years as a teacher at Shepherdstown Junior and Senior High School, she helped to form and direct the girls, boys and mixed choruses. She helped to form the Shepherdstown High School Alumni Association in 1950. She was a student counselor for 20 years.
After her retirement, she helped to tape the oral history of Shepherdstown, as related by native senior citizens.
She was a life long member of Christ Reformed Church, Shepherdstown, and was active in the music department.
She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority; American Association of University Women; Delta Kappa Gamma; honorary member of the Teachers Society; and a member of Historic Shepherdstown Commission; and national, state and county Retired School Personnel.
She is survived by several cousins.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Christ Reformed Church, Shepherdstown. The Rev. Bronson Staley will officiate. Burial will be Elmwood Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Gladys T. McClanathan
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Gladys Thomas McClanathan, 72, of 8796 Little Cove Road, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born March 9, 1924, near Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Robinson Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. McClanathan Sr., in 1992.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Cunningham of Middleburg, Fla., Vonnie McClanathan of Mercersburg, and Linda Kazmierski of Greencastle, Pa.; four sons, Earl E. McClanathan Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa., Marvin E. McClanathan of Scotland, Pa., David L. McClanathan of Greencastle and Ronald N. McClanathan of Mercersburg; one sister, Etta Starliper of Mercersburg; one brother, Clarence Thomas of Fort Loudon, Pa.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Henry Hunsberger will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery of Little Cove, Pa.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lloyd E. Perkins Jr.
Lloyd E. Perkins Jr., 60, of 16715 National Pike, Hagerstown, and formerly of Frostburg, Md., died Friday, Nov. 8, 1996, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 23, 1936, in Uniontown, Pa., he was the son of the late Lloyd Sr. and Rose Muir Perkins.
He was a retired gear cutter for Mack Trucks of Hagerstown.
He is survived by one daughter, Robin McGowan of Cumberland, Md.; two sons, Anthony D. Perkins of Ironton, Minn., and Robert Perkins of Aberdeen, Md.; two brothers, James R. Perkins of Enterprise, Ala., and Joseph W. Perkins of Frostburg; stepmother, Joy Perkins of Midland, Md.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
His remains were cremated.
Family visitation was private.
Arrangements were by Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg.
Louise B. Thompson
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Louise Burleigh Thompson, 89, of Charles Town, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Shenandoah Nursing Home, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Jan. 29, 1907, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary D. Stoutsenburger Burleigh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Thompson, in 1980.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town, where she was a charter member of the Womens Club.
She was a former member of Charles Town Senior Womans Club and Wayside Garden Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy T. Smith and Joan T. Moler, both of Charles Town; five grandchildren, Judith M. Robertson, Jane M. Greaser, Steven S. Smith, Stephanie S. Furgiuele and Katherine S. Fadeley; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Bert Valdes will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Melvin B. Stevens
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Melvin B. Stevens, 86, of 757 Fairground Ave., died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at Franklin County Nursing Home in Guilford Township, Pa.
Born Feb. 13, 1910, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late David N. and L. Maude Clark Stevens.
He retired in 1976 after 30 years with E.D. Plummer and Sons of Chambersburg. After his retirement, he was a night watchman for E.D. Plummer and a sewer line inspector for Dennis Black Engineering in Chambersburg.
He was member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Needmore.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 in Marionsville, Pa.
He was a member of Mason Dixon and Gettysburg Antique Automobile Clubs.
He was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel May Daniels Stevens, whom he married on June 15, 1935; one daughter, Shirley Corso of Chambersburg; one son, Roger A. Stevens of Camp Hill, Pa.; one sister, Ethel Mellot of St. Thomas, Pa.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stuart A. Troutman will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert L. McGinley
Robert Lee McGinley, 69, of 21 Garlinger Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 27, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Joseph La-Mar and Marguerite Hazel Pettit McGinley.
He attended Hagerstown High School.
He retired from Pangborn Corp.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1936.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile A. McGinley; one daughter, Sharon Weckerly of Hagerstown; one son, Allen McGinley of Hagerstown; one sister, Frances L. Durbin of Hagerstown; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 407 Central Ave., Reisterstown, Md. 21136.
