Viola M. Moon
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Viola May Moon, 96, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.
Born Oct. 18, 1900, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene Boltz Steiner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver J. Moon, in 1926.
At the age of 12, she started working at Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Berkeley Springs and Martinsburg, W.Va. She retired as a looper instructor in 1967. She had been a homemaker in recent years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, Missionary Society and was a Sunday school teacher for years.
She is survived by one daughter, Julia Roach Ambrose of Berkeley Springs; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Juanita Kay; one son, Jack Moon; five sisters, Julia Ash Franklin, Nettie Gregory, Mary Frances Roach, Gertrude Hovermale and Joanna Ash; and eight brothers, Raymond Steiner, Russell Steiner, Joseph "Bud" Ash, John Ash, Dewey Ash, Morgan Ash and infant twin brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Harrison Avenue and Goff Street, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. William C. Swope and Pastor Wayne Frum will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. The funeral home will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today for the convenience of friends.

Leonard J. Householder
SHARPSBURG - Leonard Joseph Householder, 80, of 7202 Dam No. 4 Road, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 2, 1916, in Dry Run, he was the son of the late Clifford Joseph and Edith Susan Knable Householder.
He was employed as a farmer by Downey Farms for 55 years. He previously was employed by Federal Silk Mill, Williamsport.
He was a member of Williamsport Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sarah E. Householder, a resident of Avalon Manor Nursing Home; two daughters, Mildred L. Atha of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Carolyn A. Atha of Hagerstown; five sons, Fred L. Householder of Williamsport, Edward C. Householder of Leitersburg, Robert R. Householder of Smithsburg, Theodore L. Householder of Sharpsburg and Roy D. Householder of State Line, Pa.; four sisters, Mabel Reiff of Pinesburg, Elizabeth L. Johnson and Nellie R. Beitler, both of Williamsport, and Helen L. Kepler of Middletown, Md.; five brothers, Newton Householder, Jack Householder and Bill Householder, all of Falling Waters, W.Va., Paul M. "Tubby" Householder and Ned J. Householder, both of Williamsport; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dolly Mae Householder and Bernice A. Butts; one son, Ralph Eugene Householder; four sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Williamsport Assembly of God Church, 15251 Falling Waters Road, Williamsport. The Rev. Daniel Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Pearl I. Peterson
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Pearl I. Peterson, 81, of Fort Collins, and formerly of Denver, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997.
She was born March 26, 1915, in Chewsville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Stottlemyer, in 1945; and by her second husband, William "Tex" Peterson, in 1980.
She was employed as a factory seamstress.
She was of the Seventh-day Adventist faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Josephine M. Stevens of Sharpsburg, Kittie L. Colby of Wellington, Colo., and Deanne L. Robien of Chester, Md.; two sons, William O. Stottlemyer of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Michael G. Stottlemyer of Westminster, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Warren-Bohlender Funeral Chapel, Fort Collins.
Esther R. Valore
BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Esther R. "Essie" Valore, 70, of 14790 Charmian Road, and formerly of Silver Spring, Md., died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at her home.
Born Jan. 8, 1927, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Charles Valore Sr. and Regina Sperl Valore.
She graduated from high school and took continuing education courses throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Aurelio Valore; three daughters, Barbara V. Piper and Carla V. Walsh, both of Fairfield, Pa., and Lisa A. Valore of Seattle; one son, Steven V. Valore of Rancho Park, Calif.; four sisters, Regina Fusan of Pennsylvania, Helen DeBlasio of Florida, Lucille Lahey of Virginia, and Beatrice Marion of Georgia; one brother, Harry Rimelen of California; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Rimelen Jr.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday at 2:30 p.m. at National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes Church, Mount St. Mary's College, 16300 Old Emmitsburg Road, Emmitsburg, Md. Monsignor Hugh J. Phillips will be celebrant.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa.
Gerald O. Miller
Gerald Orvey Miller, 78, of 10804 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 7, 1918, in Fairplay, he was the son of the late Gardner Booth and Mary Beauford Miller.
He retired in 1984 from Watkins Burdette Motor Co. in Frederick, Md., and was more recently employed part time by Hoffman Chrysler-Plymouth in Hagerstown.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hagerstown.
He was a member of Hagerstown AMVETS Post 10; Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown; and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Saum Miller; one daughter, Ava Jo Reid of Hagerstown; three sons, Gerald O. Miller II of Hagerstown, Gary L. Miller of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Jeff L. Miller of Williamsport; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Gower.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Wendell Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Elizabeth L. Brown
RANSON, W.Va. - Elizabeth Louise Brown, 86, of Orchard Hills, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born April 8, 1910, in Wilmington, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Leslie L. and Ida Mae Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Frederick Brown, in 1982.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Louise Spitzer of Ranson; four sons, John F. Brown of Bolivar, W.Va., Harry L. Brown and George T. Brown, both of Charles Town, W.Va., Charles Robert Brown of Front Royal, Va.; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Joanne Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Pauline H. Crampton
Pauline H. "Polly" Crampton, 90, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born Jan. 31, 1907, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Harriett L. Metz Nigh.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marshall Reed; and by her second husband, Charles E. Crampton Jr., in 1968.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Seibert of Hagerstown; one brother, Holland R. "Doc" Nigh of Hagerstown; three nieces; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Jane Gordon, Louise Cline and Mary Long; and two brothers, John Nigh and William Nigh.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Mary Jane McDonald
RANSON, W.Va. - Mary Jane McDonald, 47, of Ranson, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born July 2, 1949, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clifton L. and Mary Painter.
She is survived by one daughter, Wendy McDonald of Ranson; one sister, JoAnne Looney of Charles Town, W.Va.; and one brother, Steve Painter of Charles Town.
Services and burial are private.
