James H. Kyne Sr.
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - James Henry Kyne Sr., 42, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 3, 1954, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Robert Daniel and Jessie Mae Maconaughey Kyne.
He was employed as a tree trimmer.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Glenda Leona Payne Kyne; one daughter, Tina Louise Kyne of Berkeley Springs; two sons, James Henry Kyne Jr. of Germany, and Billy Joe Kyne of Berkeley Springs; four sisters, Linda M. Silver and Emily Sue Wolfe, both of Hedgesville, W.Va., Frances Diane Caine of Berkeley Springs and Rose E. Justice of Martinsburg; six brothers, Robert E. Kyne of Falling Waters, W.Va., John D. Kyne, Larry D. Kyne and Paul V. Kyne, all of Berkeley Springs, Charles W. Kyne of Martinsburg and Phillip W. Kyne of Hedgesville; two grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs.
The Revs. John S. Ledford and Hennis H. Fox will officiate

Burial will be in Mahnes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral home will be open today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.
Katherine H. Duffy
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Katherine Hebb Duffy, of Washington, D.C., died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. Duffy.
She is survived by one son, Patrick J. Duffy; and two granddaughters, Lindsey Duffy and Alicia Duffy.
Services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, 3810 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Big Pool.

Arthur H. Flook
SMITHSBURG - Arthur Henry Flook, 84, of 110 S. Main St., who died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Robert M. Tritapoe
KNOXVILLE, Md. - Robert Milan Tritapoe, 67, of 1638 Rohrersville Road, died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 30, 1929, in Garret's Mill, he was the son of the late Robert Carmine and Gladys L. Waters Tritapoe.
He retired as a forest ranger from the Department of Natural Resources, Gambrill State Park, Md., after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
He also was a member of Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion, Boonsboro.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mullenix Tritapoe, whom he married on July 3, 1947; two daughters, Julia Rebecca Parody of Hagerstown and Burgundy L. Tritapoe of Boonsboro; two sons, Robert Brian Tritapoe of Brownsville and Dean Richard Tritapoe of Knoxville; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Old Brownsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Friends also may call at the church one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

Genevieve S. Peck
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Genevieve S. Peck, 70, of Rt. 4, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born Feb. 8, 1927, in Paw Paw, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Childers and Jennie Eshelman Childers Morgret.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Peck, in 1964.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hancock Ward.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy L. Shirley of Berkeley Springs; one son, John H. Peck of Needmore, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Clara Keefer of McConnellsburg, Pa.; three sisters, Hilda Saville of Martinsburg, W.Va., Waneda Jerischeid of Sayersville, N.J. and Margaret Smith of Hagerstown; two brothers, Raymond Childers and Henry Childers of Berkeley Springs; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Burton, Hazel Childers, Minnie Cowgill, Gertrude Cable and Mary Weir; and four brothers, Gilbert Childers, Frank Childers, Ernest Childers and Harry Childers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. Bishop Larry Hartman will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from noon until 9 p.m. on Monday.
David F. Crowley
NEW BERN, N.C. - David F. Crowley, 91, of Berne Village, 2701 Amhurst Blvd., died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at Regional Medical Center, New Bern.
Born April 5, 1905, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late David F. and Henrietta Shaw Crowley Sr.
He was a 1928 graduate of St. John's College, Annapolis.
He was employed by C & P Telephone Co., Baltimore, for about 10 years. After World War II, he was a mortgage manager with Charles H. Steffey, Inc., Baltimore, and later went into business for himself.
He was a mortgage broker, covering Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia until his retirement in 1980.
In the 1940s, he was secretary of the First Federal Savings & Loan Association, the Red Cross and chairman of the Camping Committee of the Boy Scouts, all in Washington County.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lancaster Crowley; one daughter, Carolyn C. Littlejohn of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, David A. Crowley of Philadelphia; one brother, Henry Crowley of England; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at the Centenary Methodist Church, New Bern. The Revs. David Goehring and Carol Goehring officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
James A. Boyd
James Arthur Boyd, 77, of 1021 Hamilton Blvd., Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at his home.
Born March 21, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, Md., he was the son of the late Henry Boyd and Viola Jackson Boyd Chase.
He attended Frederick County schools.
He retired from the U.S. Department of Energy and was formerly employed by Fort Detrick, Md.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army.
He received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of Wayman A.M.E. Church, Walkersville, Md. He was on the usher board, trustees board, financial committee, parsonage committee and choir.
He was a member of Western Maryland Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel L. Boyd; two daughters, Sylvia Bell and Sharon Eaves, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Don Boyd of Walkersville and Anthony Bell of Hagerstown; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayman A.M.E. Church, Walkersville. Pastor Christine A. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Wayman A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at Watson's Funeral Home, 24 W. Bethel St., Hagerstown, today from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Lonnie M.S. Strole
Lonnie May Shilling Strole, 94, of 9869 Crossfield Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at her home.
Born May 1, 1902, in Barnesville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Richard Alonzo and Minnie Ida Lee Kline Rice.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Francis Shilling, in 1964; and her second husband, John Vernon Strole Sr., in 1983.
She was owner and operator of Lonnie's Restaurant on Frederick Street for 20 years.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church for 50 years.
She was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary North American Rod and Gun Club. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Waynesboro, Pa.
She is survived by two daughters, Edna Katherine White of Hagerstown and Dorothy Ruth Ernde of Marlowe, W.Va.; one stepson, John Vernon Strole Jr. of Fallston, Md.; one sister, Haven Elizabeth Hoffman of Chewsville; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson; and several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles E. Shilling and Francis L. Shilling; two sisters, Edna Murray Holland and Marietta R. Souders; and one brother, J. Russell Rice.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen O. Robison and the Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
