Edmond E. Jackson
Edmond E. Jackson, 70, formerly of 510 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 26, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John E. and Nellie V. Shoemaker Jackson.
He was a retired electronic repairman.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He is survived by three brothers, Wilfred C. Jackson and Silas S. Jackson, both of Hagerstown, and John C. Jackson of Greencastle, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Viola M. Davis.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. David L. Coblentz will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Rose M. Barnes
Rose M. Barnes, 88, formerly of 222 Norway Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Feb. 22, 1909, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary E. Smith Wellinger.
She was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Barnes of Baltimore and Christine E. Bingaman of Mt. Airy, Md.; one sister, Lena Frush of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hagerman and Rhae Myers; and one brother, James Wellinger.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jacquelyn S. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Francis E. Brewer
Francis Edward Brewer, 70, of Crystal Falls Road, Hagerstown, and formerly of Emmitsburg, Md., died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 24, 1926, in Orrtanna, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward Jacob and Anna Sprankle Brewer.
He retired as manager of the housekeeping department at Mount St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg. At the time of his death, he was working part time in the post office of the college.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg.
He was a life member of American Legion Francis X. Elder Post 121, Emmitsburg; an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Brute Council 1860, Emmitsburg; life member of VFW Post 6658, Emmitsburg; member of AMVETS Post 172, Fairfield, Pa.; and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1758, Waynesboro, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Snyder Brewer; five children, Darlene Anderson of Petersburg, Alaska, Judy Stillrich of Frederick, Edward Brewer Sr. of Hanover, Pa., Terry Brewer of Hagerstown and Timothy Brewer of Waynesboro; one sister, Margaret Ann Warthen of Emmitsburg; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Brewer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Mount St. Mary's College Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Emmitsburg. The Rev. Carl J. Fives will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery, Woodsboro, Md.
The family will meet at Skiles Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to go to the chapel.
Friends may call at funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a Christian wake will be at 8 p.m.
Russell L. Long
BOONSBORO - Russell Lewis Long, 71, of 205 St. Paul St., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 4, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Elmer C. and Lillian E. Seipler Long.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris E. Meyer Long, in 1992.
He retired from Western Maryland Railway.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy.
He attended Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, Boonsboro.
He was a member of Boonsboro Fire and Ambulance Club; Boonsboro American Legion Clopper-Michael Post 10; Western Maryland Railroad Old Timers Club; and AARP.
He is survived by three daughters, Marsha K. Long, Wilma J. Long and Donna M. Morin, all of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Regina D. Baker of Middletown, Md., and Cynthia D. Mark of Boonsboro; one stepson, Reginald A. Michael Jr. of Boonsboro; one sister, Pauline V. Losh of Hagerstown; four brothers, James A. Long and Thomas F. Long, both of Boonsboro, Robert L. Long of Hagerstown, and Richard L. Long of Martinsburg, W.Va.; six granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer C. Long Jr. and Francis E. Long, and one grandson.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, 134 S. Main St., Boonsboro. The Rev. John W. Zsittnik will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

Lee F. Ifert
BOONSBORO - Lee Franklin Ifert, 87, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home, and formerly of Middletown, Md., died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 15, 1909, in Middletown, Md., he was the son of the late Ira D. and Zora Lighter Ifert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Barbara Crum Ifert, in 1967.
He was a 1929 graduate of Middletown High School.
He was a retired animal caretaker at Fort Detrick, Md.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Middletown.
He was a life member of Middletown Volunteer Fire Co. and had served as treasurer for many years.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Bish of Pittsburgh and Carol Seibert of Hagerstown; two sons, Gene Ifert of Manassas, Va., and Kenneth Ifert of Middletown; five sisters, Mildred Ahalt of Hanover, Pa., Miriam Guyton of Taneytown, Md., Doris Beachley, Virginia House and Ruth Ellen Burrier, all of Middletown; three brothers, Merhle Ifert and Page Ifert, both of Middletown, and David Ifert of Jefferson, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Slifer; and one brother, Charles Ifert.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

W. Carlos Myers
BRUNSWICK, Md. - W. Carlos Myers, 79, of 116 Central Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Jan. 26, 1918, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Joseph William and Maude Ella Moore Myers.
He was a 1935 graduate of Brunswick High School and a graduate of Strayer College in Washington, D.C.
After college, he worked for Sen. John Funk, then in Brunswick Town office as assistant clerk, then in the Foreign Securities Administration in Frederick. From 1940 to 1946, he worked as a civilian with the Adjutant General's office.
In 1983, he retired as head of operations and director with the Bank of Brunswick after 37 years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Brunswick.
He was a member and past master of Brunswick Lodge No. 191 A.F.&A.M. He was a former member and past president of Brunswick Lions Club.
He was former president and secretary of Brunswick Community Chest. He served on Brunswick's first Industrial Development Commission and the original Planning and Zoning Board.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Frye Myers; one son, William C. Myers Jr. of Frederick; and two grandsons, Bradley H. Myers and Clayton S. Myers, both of Frederick.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick.
The Rev. Robert A. McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Josephine L.M. Mullineaux
MT. AIRY, Md. - Josephine Louise Margre Mullineaux, 87, of Mt. Airy, died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at Ravenwood Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 27, 1909, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Pino Margre.
She was employed as a supervisor by Glen Burnie Department of Motor Vehicle Administration and retired after more than 30 years.
She enjoyed reading and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Stanley Brooks Mullineaux; one son, Harry F. Collins of Warminster, Pa.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. The Rev. Michael Ruane will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.

Antonio Gomes
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pastor Antonio "Tony" Gomes, 40, of 803 Tower Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Nov. 26, 1956, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of Antonio D. Gomes of Taunton, Mass., and the late Maria Dubreira Gomes.
He was a graduate of Taunton High School in Taunton and Washington Bible College in Lanham, Md.
He served with Pocket Testament League and Global Outreach Ministries as a missionary pastor in Portugal.
He was a member of Calvary Bible Church near Greencastle.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Jelena Baker Gomes, whom he married on April 2, 1983; one daughter, Emily April Gomes, at home; one son, Daniel Joseph Gomes, at home; one sister, Lassellette Silva of Taunton; and two brothers, Alvaro Gomes and Nelson Gomes, both of Taunton.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle. The Rev. Glen A. Miller and the Rev. Jeffrey W. Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing.
