Guy V. Anderson

Guy Victor Anderson, 81, of 14027 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 5, 1915, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles Elmer and Jessie Rae Fridinger Anderson. He spent his early life in Waynesboro, Pa.

He was a 1933 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He was first employed by Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown for 30 years as a draftsman engineer. He then worked for T.B. Woods in Chambersburg as a draftsman engineer for 12 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro, where he was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian A. Snurr Anderson, whom he married June 11, 1938; two daughters, Dorothy L. Snider and Lois Anderson, both of Waynesboro; one sister, Ruth I. Camp of Zullinger, Pa.; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Anderson, James E. Anderson and John F. Anderson.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. John F. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, North Grant Street extended, Waynesboro, Pa. 17268; or to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 45 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Raymond J. Shanholtz

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Memorial donations for Raymond Junior Shanholtz, 71, of Route 2, who died Sunday, Dec. 1, 1996, may be made to Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Nursing Home, Unit A, W.Va. 9, Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

William B. Boppe

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - William B. Boppe, 81, of Shepherdstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at Integrated Health Services in Charles Town, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Augusta Johnson Boppe; one daughter, Dianne B. Fust of Parsippany, N.J.; and two sons, Charles W. Boppe of Boston, and James B. Boppe of Setauket, N.Y.

Services and burial were private, with arrangements by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Phyllis V. Kidwell

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Phyllis V. Kidwell, 61, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born June 10, 1935, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie Tharp.

She was a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Kidwell; two daughters, Gail D. Miller of Greencastle, Pa., and Kimberly K. Spinks of Crimora, Va.; two sons, Cary L. Kidwell and Terry L. Kidwell, both of Martinsburg; one sister, Helen Grapes of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, LouAnn Kidwell.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Pastor Jack Rudy will officiate. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Thomas W. Hoffman

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Thomas W. "Tom" Hoffman, 48, of 13893 Crest Ave., died Monday, Dec. 2, 1996, at his home.

Born May 26, 1948, in Elton, Pa., he was the son of Robert and Anna Callihan Hoffman of Waynesboro. He lived his early life in Windber, Pa.

He attended Windber area schools until moving to Waynesboro in 1963. He was a 1966 graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School. He attended Shippensburg State College for one year.

He was employed by Grove Manufacturing Co., Shady Grove, Pa., in the parts publications department for nearly 20 years. He then worked a short time for Craig's Concrete, Greencastle, Pa. and then at the Nazareth Group, Inc., Waynesboro, presently called Waynesboro Design. From August 1988 until the present he was employed as the senior technical writer for Ingersoll-Rand Co., Shippensburg.

He was a veteran of the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania, serving from 1967 until 1974. He served with Troop C First Squadron 104th Armored Cavalry (The Governor's Troop).

He was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren and the Good Shepherd Sunday School Class. He also served on various committees within the church and served as youth advisor for a number of years. He had currently been serving as a deacon, usher and chairman of the Church Board.

He was affiliated with the Pen Mar Youth League for a number of years, where he coached the Mets Baseball Team, Stallion Football Team and the youth basketball at the Waynesboro Y.M.C.A.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kay Maun Hoffman, whom he married July 20, 1968; one daughter, Gina R. Wagaman of Waynesboro; one son, Thomas R. Hoffman of Waynesboro; two sisters, Donna Chaney of Hagerstown and Judy Weaver of Windber; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro. Pastor John Paul Holsey and Pastor Brent K. Driver will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Charles E. Reynolds

SMITHSBURG - Charles E. Reynolds, 42, of Greensburg Road, who died Monday, Dec. 2, 1996, was preceded in death by one brother, Norman R. Reynolds.

Lester M. Howard

BETHESDA, Md. - Lester Maxfield Howard, 95, of Bethesda, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at the Second Family Home, Berkeley County, W.Va.

Born June 1, 1901, in Brockton, Mass., he was the son of the late Walter T. and Jennie Nord Howard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elta Odessa Howard, on Oct. 10, 1990.

He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He served during World War II. Later he worked for McDonnell-Douglas.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Greenville, Texas.

He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Greenville and St. Louis.

He is survived by one son, Jon L. Howard of Bethesda and one niece.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Susie Purchase, and one brother, Wellington Howard.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Wilson E. Thomas

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Wilson E. Thomas, 81, of 232 Linden Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Nov. 13, 1915, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Mullenix Thomas.

He worked at the former Lowengart Tannery and Mercersburg Academy. He also was employed by the following garages: Taylor's, Kaiser & Frazer, Grossnickles, Frank Gayman, Clyde Fox, and Bob Hoffman, all of Mercersburg. In the early 1970s he opened his own business, Wilson's Radiator & Auto Body of Mercersburg, retiring in 1988.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, and was honorably discharged.

He and his wife, Margaret Koser Thomas, were married on Oct. 31, 1936. They were known for "Hymn Time" which started in 1953 on radio station WCHA and currently airs on WKSL radio every Sunday at 8 a.m.

He was a member of Faith Temple Church of Cearfoss, Md.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Larry E. Thomas Sr. of Mercersburg; three sisters, Goldie Clever and Martha Pittman, both of Mercersburg, and Eva Ricker of State Line, Pa.; two brothers, James Thomas of Mercersburg and Roy Thomas of Oceola Mills, Pa.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, one sister and one brother.

Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Faith Temple, Cearfoss. The Rev. Ronald Lynch, the Rev. W. David Kent, and the Rev. Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.

Frank P. Suehowicz

AURORA, Ohio - Frank P. Suehowicz, 84, of 889 N. Aurora Road, and formerly of Orchard Road, Hancock, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Anna Maria Nursing Home in Aurora.

Born April 1, 1912, in Brownsville, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Mary Suehowicz.

His first wife, Helen Roscoe Suehowicz, died in 1952.

His second wife, Wilda Hinkle Suehowicz, died in 1994.

He was a former coal miner and for many years owned and operated Lincoln Park Tavern in New Windsor, Md. He was also a carpenter supervisor and surveyor in the Washington, D.C., area.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock.

He also was a member of Knights of Columbus and the United Mine Workers local in Mather, Pa.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Frances Pochron of Grasonville, Md., and Carolyn Jean Arbuckle of Aurora; two sons, Fred Savage of Westminster, Md., and Jack Hinkle of Mardela Springs, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Suehowicz, William Suehowicz and Julius Suehowicz; and infant sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock, with the Rev. George W. Glick as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, where a rosary will be said at 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, High Street, Hancock, Md. 21750.
