Elio Vecellio
BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Elio Vecellio, 84, of Bolivar, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 18, 1912, in Pleasant Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late Arcangela and Virginio Pais Vecellio.
He spent his early childhood in Auronzo, Italy, and returned to the United States at age of 18.
He retired from bridge construction. He worked in the Bolivar/Harpers Ferry, W.Va., area with Monty Brothers, building piers for the Shenandoah River Bridge in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
He attended the International Pentecostal Church of Bolivar.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Mellott Vecellio; one daughter, Mary Linda Foltz of Sterling, Va.; one brother, Reno Vecellio of Italy; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Gracia; one brother, Arnoldo; and one grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, 114 Mildred St., Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. B. Guilford Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Rachel S. Brish
Rachel Stottlemyer Brish, 87, formerly of 28 E. Magnolia Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born April 29, 1909, near Thurmont, Md., she was the daughter of the late Emory F. and Mary Rae Kelbaugh Stottlemyer.
She graduated from Thurmont High School and studied at Bryant and Stratton Business College in Baltimore. She studied voice at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore and at Hood College, Frederick, Md.
She was a contralto soloist and choir member at Zion Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ. She sang at weddings, conventions and special programs.
She was a member and past president of Treble Clef Club; and a life member of National Federation of Music Clubs. She was a member of the board of directors of the Baltimore Civic Opera Association and Hagerstown Community Concerts.
She served several terms on the consistory of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. She was on the board of directors of Hagerstown Salvation Army for 26 years. A member of Washington County chapter of the American Red Cross, she received the Beulah Myers Service Award for 25 years of volunteer leadership. She was a former member of Women's Club of Hagerstown.
She and her husband made extended visits to India, sponsored by the Ford Foundation, and to Nigeria, sponsored by the U.S. Information Service.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. William M. Brish; three daughters, Marianne B. Evett of Cleveland, Margaret B. Wagner of Hagerstown and Marcia B. Shenk of Silver Spring, Md.; two brothers, John Stottlemyer of Cascade and Paul Stottlemyer of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Zion Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jack D. Cook will officiate. Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Ruth A.M. Hartman
QUINCY, Pa. - Ruth A. McCartin Hartman, 82, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 8303 Sheffield Manor Blvd., Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Dec. 6, 1914, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mammie Miller McCartin. She moved to Mont Alto, Pa., as a child to live with Edward and Margaret Wile, who raised her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel C. Hartman, in 1962.
She attended Quincy schools.
In her early life, she was employed by Waynesboro Hospital in the housekeeping department. She was then employed by South Mountain Restoration Center in the dietary department, retiring in 1962.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto, adult Sunday school class and Ladies Aide Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret R. Baer of Mont Alto, Ardeth Jean Hirth of Elyria, Ohio, and Beverly M. Fessler of Waynesboro; one son, Vernon C. "Pete" Hartman of Rouzerville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Edward "Eddie" Hartman; one brother, Robert McCartin; and one half-sister, Evelyn Cline.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. C. Albert Guyer and the Rev. Robert L. Basom will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
Lola R. Price
LITTLE ORLEANS, Md. - Lola Rosalie Price, 93, of Orleans Road, N.E., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 26, 1903, in Little Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mattie Brady Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Price, in 1976.
She had been employed as a seamstress by the former Jacobs Brothers in Hancock.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by five daughters, Clara Stahle of Hanover, Pa., Mary Creek, Loretta McCusker and Geneva Diehl, all of Hancock, and Elton Walls of Hagerstown; six sons, Elmer Price and Lester Price, both of Little Orleans, Clifton Price of Baltimore, Lee Price of Mt. Airy, Md., John Price of Hagerstown and Homer Price of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. William Garey will officiate. Burial will be in Piney Plains United Methodist Cemetery, Little Orleans.

Lula Butler
Lula Butler, 91, of Hagerstown, and formerly of 800 Motter Ave., Frederick, Md., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 9, 1906, in Thurmont, Md., she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Betty Strine Eicholtz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Butler.
She is survived by one nephew, Darreyl H. Potterfield of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, twin sister Lillian Potterfield, Ada Hoffman and Grace Liday; and four brothers, Calvin Eicholtz, Elmer Eicholtz, John Eicholtz and Raymond Eicholtz.
Services will be Wednesday at noon at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro, Md.
Visitation will be at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service Wednesday.
John R. Carlin Jr.
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Master Sgt. John R. Carlin Jr., 51, of Falling Waters, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at his home.
Born March 2, 1945, in Baltimore, he was the son of John R. Carlin Sr. of Ocala, Fla., and Ruth Meekins Fridinger of Fayetteville, Pa.; and the stepson of Margaret Carlin of Ocala.
He served as a master sergeant with the Maryland National Guard 729th Forward Support Battalion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was a member of American Legion Post 211, Funkstown; VFW Post 160, Glen Burnie, Md.; and Council 1169 Knights of Columbus, Martinsburg, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Lanzi Carlin; two daughters, Dawn Marie Carlin and Jennifer Lynn Carlin, both at home; two sons, Sgt. Scott Michael Carlin Sr. of Martinsburg and Jonathan Morgan Carlin, at home; two sisters, Joyce A. Camp of Millersville, Md., and Deborah A. Maiste of Baltimore; two stepsisters, Margaret Crooks and Roxanne Norris, both of Baltimore; two stepbrothers, Jeffrey Fridinger of Baltimore and Dr. Frederick Fridinger of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 219 S. Queen St., Martinsburg. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.. A vigil service will be held at 8 p.m.

Rose M. Barnes
Rose M. Barnes, 88, formerly of 222 Norway Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Feb. 22, 1909, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary E. Smith Wellinger.
She was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Barnes of Baltimore and Christine E. Bingaman of Mt. Airy, Md.; one sister, Lena Frush of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hagerman and Rhae Myers; and one brother, James Wellinger.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jacquelyn S. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Maude A. Jamison
WILLIAMSPORT - Maude Alverta Jamison, 94, of Williamsport Nursing Home, and formerly of Samples Manor, Md., died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at the home.
Born July 3, 1902, in Samples Manor, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Francis and Katherine Rebecca Hancel Sagle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George S. Jamison, in 1985.
She was employed at the silk mill, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. She also was a homemaker.
She was a member of Samples Manor Church of God.
She is survived by one sister, Margaret Pleasant of Baltimore; and one sister-in-law, Betty J. Sagle of Hagerstown, with whom she formerly resided.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mayble Koontz and Madge Mills; and three brothers, Lloyd M. Sagle, Harry Sagle and George Sagle.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Samples Manor Cemetery. The Rev. Victor Zuck will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
