Daniel D. Dundus
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Daniel Donald Dundus, 63, of 1001 Oak Drive, Martinsburg, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born May 19, 1933, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Willard George and Mary King Dundus.
He served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served during the Vietnam era.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1936 in Hagerstown; American Legion Post 222, Clear Spring; the Navy Fleet Association; the Fraternal Order of Eagles 694; the AARP; and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose 212 in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Dundus; two daughters, Denise Dundus and Dawn Dundus, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Daniel D. Dundus II of Hagerstown and Michael Dundus of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one brother, Theodore Edward Dundus of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Lynn Dundus, and one granddaughter Athena D. Dundus.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Chaplain Jerry Mehaffey will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted by William D. Byron Post 1936 VFW.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Julian V. Ayers
HANCOCK - Julian V. Ayers, 82, of Jerome Road, Hancock, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at his home.
Born Dec. 15, 1914, in Barton, Md., he was the son of the late Vincent Alford and Laura May Paterson Ayers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Minta Jerome Ayers, on Jan. 30, 1994.
He attended Barton High School.
He was a member of Barton Methodist Church.
An independent truck owner and operator, he operated his business out of Hancock. He operated Southern States Co-Op in Hancock during the war. He previously was a coal miner and dairy farmer in Barton.
He was awarded the Million Mile Safety Award by Mack Trucks Inc. in Allentown, Pa., in 1973.
He was a member of the Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club in Hancock.
He is survived by one son Julian V. Ayers Jr. of Hancock; three sisters, Martha Meese and Mildred Magruder, both of Barton, and Ruth Funkhouser of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Kyle.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Joan P. Denendo Moore
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Joan P. Denendo Moore, 64, a resident of Menno Haven Retirement Center, Chambersburg, and formerly of 113 W. 8th Ave., Conshohocken, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born March 16, 1932, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Josephine Denendo.
She graduated in 1932 from Conshohocken High School.
She was employed as a receptionist by Dr. J. Fein in Conshohocken from 1968 to 1974. For several years, she was employed by Star Dental, Trooper, Pa., as an assembly worker. She retired in 1994 from Athena Controls, Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
She was a member of St. Cosmos and Damien Church in Conshohocken.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna J. Holsey, of Waynesboro, Pa.; one son Donald S. Moore Jr. of Harleysville, Pa.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Chivarelli Funeral Home in Conshohocken.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., in Menno Haven Retirement Center, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, with Pastor Vernon Eisner and her son-in-law Paster John Paul Holsey officiating.

Ruth E. Creek
LITTLE ORLEANS - Ruth E. Creek, 93, of Jenny Lane, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at her home.
Born April 28, 1903, in McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Scott M. and Edith Virginia Creek Mann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Andrew Creek, in 1968.
She taught school in the Allegany County school system for a number of years.
She was a member of Piney Plains United Methodist Church, Little Orleans, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia R. Nicodemus of Little Orleans; three grandchildren,Keith McFarland, Donald McFarland, and David McFarland; four great-grandchildren; and several foster children.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons; one sister, Elma Mann; and two brothers, Marshall Mann and Homer Mann.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Piney Plains United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alan Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Friends also may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marshall I. Moser
SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Marshall Isaac Moser, 95, of 17056 Sabillasville Road, Sabillasville, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, in Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 29, 1901, in Foxville, Md., he was the son of the late Louis and Ellen V. Hayes Moser Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Marie Bowers Moser, in 1975. They were married on April 4, 1925.
He was employed as a farmer, carpenter and plumber. He helped build the stone barracks at Camp Ritchie, now Fort Ritchie. He also worked on the Presidential Retreat, Shangri-La, now Camp David. He retired in 1974 from Highfield Water Co.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Sabillasville.
He was a lifetime member of Blue Ridge Mountain Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy V. Coyle of Highfield; one son, Carl L. Moser of Hagerstown; one sister, Fern Fox of Hagerstown; one brother, Samuel B. Duncan of Cascade; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, four sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. Pastor John M. Grissinger will officiate. Burial will be in St. Benjamin's Krider's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Westminster, Md.

Iva E. Currens
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Iva E. Currens, 90, of Piney Mountain Retirement Community, and formerly of 2844 Oakland Road, Dover, Pa., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at the home.
Born May 27, 1906, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel I. and Alverda Moatz Shockey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick M. Currens, on Aug. 10, 1992. They were married on Sept. 28, 1925.
She worked at summer hotels in the Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., area. She was employed at York (Pa.) Hospital as a nurse's aide in the nursery from 1958 to 1962. She last worked as a clerk at the Bon-Ton store in York.
She was a member of Rouzerville Church of the Brethren, Rouzerville.
She also was a member of the National AARP and a former member of Kamp Fire Kampers and White Rose Traveling Club, both of York.
She is survived by two nieces, Thelma Roof of Camp Hill, Pa., and Louise Dokla of Waynesboro; and four nephews, Clayton Chamberlin, Robert Chamberlin, and Lloyd Chamberlin, all of Waynesboro, and Charles William Chamberlin of Chambersburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Chamberlin; and one brother, Christian Shockey.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Leonard W. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Cemetery, Rouzerville, Pa.

William J. Dillard
INWOOD, W.Va. - William Jennings Dillard, 89, of Inwood, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 2, 1907, in Rockingham County, Va., he was the son of the late Dyer M. and Mary Winegore Dillard.
He was employed by Potomac Construction Co., retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Charles Town, W.Va., and attended Darkesville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Nichols Dillard; five daughters, Cathleen Yeager of Hagerstown, Jane Herbaugh of Darkesville, W.Va., Nancy Jones of Pikeside, W.Va., Linda Canby of Inwood and Carolyn Burrell of Baltimore; one sister, Virginia Klunk of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Beulah Jones, Bessie Gregory, Leona Milburn, Eva Ware and Irene Largent; and four brothers, Raymond Dillard, Lester Dillard, Paul Dillard and Wilson Dillard.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Patricia A. Drake will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be private.
