Richard E. Boyer
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Richard Earl Boyer, 67, of 1048 Kunkle Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born April 30, 1929, in Lewistown, Pa., he was the son of the late Willis J. and Elizabeth E. Wolfkill Boyer.
He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Ind.
He was employed as a mechanical engineer by Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., Franklin, Pa., for 10 years. He then worked as a mechanical engineer for Trans America DeLaval, Oakland, Calif., for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
A seven-year veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Trout Unlimited, Falling Spring Chapter 234, Chambersburg; a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, Chambersburg and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Kerlin Boyer, whom he married May 24, 1955; two daughters, Vicki D. Boyer of Chambersburg and Rebecca B. Maple of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, James W. Boyer of Tiburon, Calif., and Richard E. Boyer Jr. of Chambersburg; two sisters, Carolyn C. Diffenderfer of Hagerstown and Joyce Frey of Chambersburg; two brothers, Kenneth W. Boyer of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Robert J. Boyer of Chambersburg; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris L. Rodgers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Harold E. Posey and the Rev. Linda O. Eshelman will officiate. Burial will be private.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

Thomas B. Hollyday
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. - Thomas Baker Hollyday, 77, of Rocky Mount, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997 in Rocky Mount.
He was the son of the late William Claude and Lillian Baker Hollyday.
He was a 1937 graduate of Boonsboro High School, and was vice president of the class. He attended Franklin and Marshall College and graduated from Villanova University.
He was vice president and general manager of Dy-Dea Service.
He and his wife were owners of Salthouse Store at Philpott Lake.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. He was a radar operator on the USS Fletcher in the South Pacific, and participated in the battle in the Soloman Islands.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church, where he was a deacon and an ordained elder. At the time of his death, he was a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Bryce Hollyday; four daughters, Elizabeth Wittmer of Midlothian, Va., Linda Ward of Braffetsville, Ohio, Melissa Martin of Charlotte, N.C., and Amy Neese of Houston; two sons, Thomas Wendell Hollyday of Pennsauken, N.J., and David Wallace Hollyday of Long Beach, Calif.; three brothers, William C. Hollyday, Joseph S. Hollyday and Robert D. Hollyday; several grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James D. Hollyday.
Services were held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church. The Rev. William K. Dawson officiated.
Arrangements were by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
Rachel K. Tobin
BEL AIR, Md. - Rachel Kepler Tobin, 77, of 929 S. Main St., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at her home.
Born in Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Amy Gladhill Kepler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin P. Tobin, in 1976.
She was a 1940 graduate of Hood College, Frederick, Md., receiving her degree in mathematics. She received a master of education degree from Johns Hopkins University.
During World War II, she was a mathematician in the Ballistics Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md. She taught briefly in Frederick County, Md. In 1983, she retired from teaching as head of the math department at Aberdeen High School.
She was a member of Bel Air United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; the Retired Teachers Association; the League of Women Voters and the Board of Tri-Home Health Care. She traveled extensively and participated in Elderhostels.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Tobin of Bel Air and Lynne Tobin Wilde of West Hartford, Conn.; two sisters, Grace K. Watson of McDaniel, Md., and Ruth K. Thornhill of Funkstown; two brothers, Atlee C. Kepler of Hagerstown and Paul E. Kepler of Ellicott City, Md.; two grandsons; four nieces; and one nephew.
A memorial service was held at the Bel Air United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The Rev. Charles W. Lightner and the Rev. Marguerite Groseclose officiated.

Milton W. Burdette
BROWNINGSVILLE, Md. - Milton W. Burdette, 96, of Browningsville, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at Mediplex of Montgomery Village in Gaithersburg, Md.
Born Dec. 21, 1900, in Hyattstown, Md., he was the son of the late Willie and Mamie Pugh Burdette.
He managed an A&P grocery store in Gaithersburg, farmed and worked with Warthen and Ward as a carpenter.
He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Browningsville, and served as assistant pastor of the churches on the Urbana Circuit for more than 20 years. He also was secretary and director of Bealls Grove Camp meeting for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Rebecca Watkins Burdette; one daughter, Betty Case of Batesville, Miss.; one sister, Edna Watkins of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Freysz.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Browningsville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

H. Lehman Toms
BOONSBORO - H. Lehman Toms, 70, of 19929 Lemuel Lane, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Hubert Wachtel and Edith Lehman Toms.
He was a dairy farmer before retiring recently.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, where he was a past member of the church council.
He was appointed by former Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan to the Agricultural Stabilization Bureau in Washington, D.C. He was a member and past president of the Washington County Farm Bureau; past director of Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Association; was on the board of directors of Southern States Petroleum, Hagerstown; and was a past director of SIRE Power Inc. He was a member of Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown; charter member, vice president and past president of Washington County Sportsmen's Club; past president of Boonsboro Elementary School PTA and was a former cornet player with the YMCA Band and Hagerstown Municipal Band.
He is survived by his wife, Jean E. Baish Toms, whom he married July 8, 1951; two daughters, Sally A. Hellane of Smithsburg and Susan J. Toms of Hagerstown; two sons, Richard B. Toms of Hagerstown and Gregory L. Toms of Boonsboro; one stepdaughter, Audrey Albright of Hagerstown; one stepbrother, J. Thomas Reynold of Dubary, Fla; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth and the Rev. Christopher J. Chantelau will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Anne W. Robinson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anne W. "Woody" Robinson, 74, of 317 Carlton Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at her home.
Born June 3, 1922, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late G. Herbert and Elizabeth Reed Wood.
She attended Penn Hall. She graduated from Stuart Hall Preparatory School, Staunton, Va.; the Semple School for Secretaries, New York City; and the New York School of Design.
She was employed for five years as a secretary by Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and by Wilson College. An interior decorator, she operated Anne W. Robinson Fabrics for 13 years, retiring in 1991.
During World War II, she was a volunteer for the Red Cross. She also volunteered for Chambersburg Hospital.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring.
She was a member of the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary and the Window Coverings Association of America.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lawrence O. "Robbie" Robinson; one daughter, Jane L. Robinson of Chambersburg; two sons, Lawrence W. Robinson of Edenville, Pa., and James R. Robinson of Nyesville, Pa.; one sister, Betty Palmer of Chambersburg; four grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring. The Rev. Linda B. Harter will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

Carrie B. Twigg
GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Carrie Barbara Twigg, 87, of Great Cacapon, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Sept. 19, 1909, in Doe Gully, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Elizabeth Irene Barnes Linaburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Twigg, in 1979.
She attended Orleans Crossroads School, Orleans Crossroads, W.Va.
She worked as a cook at The Park View Inn and The Country Inn, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., from the early 1960s until her retirement in 1991. She also was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Hutchinson and Louise Fischer, both of Great Cacapon, and Barbara Hovermale of Lancaster, Pa.; one son, Elmer Twigg of Great Cacapon; 21 grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Robert K. Twigg, Roger D. Twigg and Ronald R. Twigg; eight brothers, Harry Linaburg, George Linaburg, Roy Linaburg, Jennings Linaburg, Dewey Linaburg, James Linaburg, Gould Linaburg and Dovey Linaburg; and two grandsons, Gary Fischer and Bobby Twigg.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. Pastor Everett W. Powell and Pastor Malcolm L. Cadd Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery, Great Cacapon, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday for the convenience of friends.
Donald W. Kilmer
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Donald Wilkins Kilmer, 67, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia, Charles Town.
Born Jan. 16, 1930, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late C. Vernon and Anna Kline Kilmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther E. Kilmer, in 1989.
He was a 1948 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired from Supertane Gas Co., Ranson, W.Va.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town.
He was a former member of Hagerstown Local Musicians Union, Hagerstown. He was a drummer with the Harvey Gardener and Les Arnold Orchestra for many years. He played with the Chambersburg (Pa.) Symphony. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town.
He is survived by two daughters, Wendy K. Williams of Inwood, W.Va., and Mary Beth Barney of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one son, Todd R. Kilmer of Hermitage, Tenn.; one step daughter, Mary Catherine Boyer of Inwood; one adopted daughter, Alice Lee Kilmer of Leetown, W.Va.; five grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Kilmer.
Memorial graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate.
