Russel W. Godlove
Russel W. "John" Godlove, 84, of 9711 Sharpsburg Pike, Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997, at his home.
Born Jan. 23, 1913, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late James C. and Mary A. "Big Mom" Roach Godlove.
He was employed by Western Maryland Railway from 1930 to 1940. He then spent 38 years with the B&O Railroad in Brunswick, Md.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Hagerstown.
He was a member of B&O Veterans of Brunswick; Brunswick Eagles Aerie 1136; Moose Lodge 1582, Brunswick; and BPO Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis A. Fridinger Godlove; two sons, Larry E. Godlove of Williamsport and Gary W. Godlove of Hagerstown; one sister, Esther "Kate" Forcino of Hagerstown; two brothers, Roy "Ed" Godlove and Paul Godlove Rodgers, both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mearl Williams, Violet Williams and Gladys "Dickie" Godlove; and four brothers, Fay Godlove, Windy Godlove, Guy Godlove and Boyd Godlove.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shiver will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 216 N. Cleveland Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or to the charity of one's choice.
Estella N. Drawbaugh
Estella Nevada Drawbaugh, 99, formerly of 17414 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at C.J. Senior Care, Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 10, 1897, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Sheridan and Mary Price Benner.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reno Wyand, in 1918; her second husband, I. Hall Wilson, in 1932; and her third husband, David Drawbaugh, in 1981.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by a friend, Elaine Weaver of Clear Spring, who took care of her; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Reno Burham; one son, Robert Wilson; two sisters, Autella Showe and Margaret Muser; and five brothers, Elmer Benner, Bentley Benner, Earl Benner, Levy Benner and Ray Benner.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Victor Zuck will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Samuel E. Hammond
Samuel Edgar Hammond, 86, of 124 N. Cannon Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1910, in Downsville, he was the son of the late Christian A. and Mary Jane Marmaduke Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Ruth Hammond, in 1991.
He retired from Fairchild Aircraft.
He was a member of the U.A.W.
He is survived by two daughters, Judith Knight and Patricia Snyder, both of Hagerstown; one son, Thomas Hammond of Columbia, Md.; one brother, Charles Walter of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Guessford, Cora Cline and Mary Shatzer; and five brothers, Albert Hammond, Carl Hammond, Robert Hammond, Howard Hammond and Mick Hammond.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A. Fern Brown
A. Fern Brown, 71, of 502 Mitchell Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, while visiting her daughter.
Born Jan. 9, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Jessie W. and Nannie L. Kline Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie C. Brown, in 1990.
Before retiring, she was employed by Janitorial Services.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith A. Hose and Brenda K. Gameson, both of Des Moines, and Rebecca L. Cable of Lusby, Md.; one son, Johnnie C. Brown Jr. of Hagerstown; three sisters, Elsie Wolfe of Allentown, Pa., Margaret Howlett and Pearle Cook, both of Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Sister Lucille Marquiss will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Howard W. Price
Howard W. Price, 84, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born Dec. 22, 1912, in Westminster, Md., he was the son of the late Charles W. and Hilda M. Oren Price.
For more than 40 years, he was employed by Victor Cushwa, first in Hagerstown and then in Williamsport.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Busy Mens Bible Class.
He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Martha J. Lehman Price; one daughter, Pamela L. Mummert of Williamsport; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service Tuesday.
Frances M. LeMeilleur
FAIRPLAY - Frances M. LeMeilleur, 81, of Spielman Road, Fairplay, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.
Born Aug. 20, 1915, in Paris, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Berdie Kilburn Collom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Junior LeMeilleur.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne M. Eichelberger of Fairplay and Barbara Frances Hill of Austin, Texas; two sons, Charles David LeMeilleur of Ingram, Texas, and Raymond Scott LeMeilleur of Austin; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Allen LeMeilleur; and one sister, Hilda Elizabeth Collom.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Kingdom Hall, 30 Nottingham Road, Hagerstown.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
Carl L. Eyler
SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Carl Lorraine "Butter" Eyler, 55, of Sabillasville, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at his home.
Born March 23, 1941, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late George L. and Cleo Stevens Eyler.
He was a self-employed home improvement contractor for more than 25 years, operating C.L. Eyler Painting and Carpentry in Frederick County, Md.
He was an avid bowler, bowling for 20 years on the Friday Industrial League.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Phoebe Grove Eyler; stepmother, Mildred Pauline Eyler of Woodsboro, Md.; one son, Samuel Dean Smith of Frederick County; one stepdaughter, Doris Elizabeth Monath of Frederick; two brothers, Kenneth Eyler of Westminster, Md., and Gary Eyler of Frederick, Md.; one stepsister, Jeanette Eckard of Westminster; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro. The Rev. Maurice A. Arsenault will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Leigh-Ann Lewis
POTOMAC, Md. - Leigh-Ann Lewis, 34, of Potomac, died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at her home.
Born July 23, 1962, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Jean and Charles Myers of Potomac and Roger and Mary Lewis of Inwood, W.Va.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Cornwallis Lane and Sulphur Spring Road, Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Brian Shoda will be celebrant. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a vigil service will be at 8 p.m.
