Estella N. Drawbaugh
Estella Nevada Drawbaugh, 99, formerly of 17414 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at C.J. Senior Care, Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 10, 1897, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Sheridan and Mary Price Benner.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reno Wyand, in 1918; her second husband, I. Hall Wilson, in 1932; and her third husband, David Drawbaugh, in 1981.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by a friend, Elaine Weaver of Clear Spring, who took care of her; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Reno Burham; one son, Robert Wilson; two sisters, Autella Showe and Margaret Muser; and five brothers, Elmer Benner, Bentley Benner, Earl Benner, Levy Benner and Ray Benner.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Victor Zuck will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ruth N. Brubaker
Ruth N. Brubaker, 70, of 13605 Kenneth St., Hagerstown, died Monday, March 3, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.
Born March 29, 1926, in Scotland, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elmer G. and Prudence Upperman Pensinger.
She was employed as a seamstress by the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg. She then worked at the former Tastee Freeze, Greencastle, Pa., and the former Oaks Motel, Greencastle. She also worked for the pharmacy of Washington County Hospital making home deliveries and retired in 1981.
She was a member of Emmanuel Chapel, Smithsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford P. Brubaker Sr., whom she married on April 13, 1951; two daughters, Patricia A. Burkett of Smithsburg and Judy K. Jones of Hagerstown; two sons, Clifford P. Brubaker Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa., and David L. Brubaker of Jacksonville, N.C.; one sister, Margarite Rachilla of Chambersburg; one brother, Grant Pensinger of Pikesville, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one great-grandson.
Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jonathan Laye will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Franca A. Lewis
WILLIAMSPORT - Franca Ann Lewis, 50, of 100 W. Potomac St., died Monday, March 3, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 17, 1946, in Rome, Italy, she was the daughter of Tina Moody of Sebastian, Fla., and the late Walter Moody.
She received an associate of arts degree in 1966 from Lock Haven State College.
She was employed as a reporter by The Herald-Mail Co. for almost 30 years. She previously was employed by the Washington County Board of Education, Hagerstown Cracker Barrel and WHAG TV.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Halfway.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Adam W. Lewis of Hagerstown and John E. Lewis at home; and her fiance, Richard Herman of Williamsport.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and at the conclusion of the service until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Maxine L. Richesson
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Maxine L. Richesson, 82, of 5979 Buchanan Drive, died Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at Harrisburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1915, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Philip Bard and Hulda Edith Truax McAfee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth I. "Shorty" Richesson on Feb. 22, 1980.
She was a former employee of the Mercersburg Dress Factory. She was last employed as an office clerk by the former Lowengart Co. of Mercersburg.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg, where she was a member of Hoch's Bible Class, United Methodist Women and was an honorary member of the church administrative board.
She was a life member and former president of the ladies auxiliary of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241, Mercersburg. She enjoyed bowling and gardening.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. Rodney I. Richesson of Dover, Pa.; one brother, P. Bard McAfee of Mercersburg; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by one son, Larry L. Richesson; one sister, Wilda Miller; and two brothers, Gerald E. McAfee and Thomas I. McAfee.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Samuel L. Sheffler will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Mildred F. Leo
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Mildred F. Leo, 73, of R.D. 2, died Monday, March 3, 1997, in Franklin County, Pa.
She was born April 18, 1923, in Ashville, Tenn.
Her husband, Robert J. Leo, also died on March 3, 1997.
She was employed as a telephone operator and cafeteria worker in Prince George's County, Md.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, McConnellsburg, where she had been a member of the choir.
She also was a member of the auxiliary of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.; McConnellsburg Quilt Club; and Chambersburg Quilt Club. She was a 17-year volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She is survived by two daughters, Lora Tanner of Bowie, Md., and Carolyn Leo Huff of California, Md.; one sister, Alice Boyce of Venice, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert D. Leo, in 1985.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ. The Rev. Barron Barley will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Robert J. Leo
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Robert J. Leo, 77, of R.D. 2, died Monday, March 3, 1997, in Franklin County, Pa.
Born Feb. 29, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late John and Laura Stosser Leo.
His wife, Mildred Polston Leo, also died on March 3, 1997.
He was employed as an accountant by the Department of State in the Agency for International Development.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II in France.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, McConnellsburg.
He also was a member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.; VFW, McConnellsburg; McConnellsburg American Legion; Chambersburg Stamp Club; and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a volunteer with the Red Cross.
He is survived by two daughters, Lora Tanner of Bowie, Md., and Carolyn Leo Huff of California, Md.; one brother, Donald Leo of McConnellsburg; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert D. Leo, in 1985.

Josiah T. Hastings
Josiah T. Hastings, 60, of West Side Avenue, Hagerstown, died Monday, March 3, 1997, at his home.
Born May 27, 1936, in Big Pool, he was the son of Evelyn V. Smith Hastings of Big Pool and the late Clarence H. Hastings.
He was a 1954 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
He was employed by Callas Contractors, Hagerstown.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Church of God, Clear Spring.
He also was a member of Morgan County Saddle Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Palmer Hastings; three daughters, Betty Pfaff and Evelyn Gladhill, both of Hagerstown and Patti Divelbliss of Clear Spring; two sons, Wayne Hastings of Big Pool and Michael Hastings of Hagerstown; one brother, James Hastings Sr. of Hancock; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by twin sons, James Hastings and John Hastings; and a half brother, Jack Presgraves.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Church of God. Pastor Robert E. Timmons will officiate.

Elva F. Jackson
CHESTNUT HILL, W.Va. - Elva Frances Jackson, 73, of Chestnut Hill, died Monday, March 3, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Aug. 17, 1923, in Page County, Va., she was the daughter of Esta Mae Taylor Rickard of Charles Town, W.Va., and the late Charles Abram Rickard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Junior Jackson, on March 13, 1990.
She was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Diana M. Cook of Chestnut Hill; three sons, Charles W. Jackson and Robert T. Jackson, both of Chestnut Hill, and James A. Jackson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Helen V. Harder of Blair, W.Va., and Lenis M. Martin of Charles Town; two brothers, Charles J. Rickard of Shannondale, W.Va., and Daniel E. Rickard of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald L. Jackson, and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Henry L. Fisher and the Rev. B.G. Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
