Hakeem and Nahim Newton
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hakeem and Nahim Newton, 4-month-old sons of Kevin Newton and Jewel Johnson of Martinsburg, died Thursday, March 6, 1997, in Martinsburg.
They were born Oct. 14, 1996 in Fairfax, Va.
In addition to their parents, they are survived by two sisters, Azia Lindsay and Raediah Johnson, both of Pittsburgh; one brother, Kevin Johnson of Pittsburgh; maternal grandparents, Harvetta Johnson of Camp Verde, Ariz., and James Williams of Lewistown, Pa.; paternal grandparents, Norris and Madeline Newton of Philadelphia; and maternal great-grandparents, James and Helen Williams Sr. of Lewistown.
Services and burial will be private.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
Jerry A. Smith
Jerry Allen Smith, 48, of 322 Henry Ave., Hagerstown, died March 9, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
He was the son of the late George Van Lair and Gladys Elizabeth Smith.
He attended South Hagerstown High School.
He was formerly employed at Sheraton Inn.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Virginia Halty of Harrisburg, Pa., Ann Johnson of Pottstown, Pa., and Shiree Smith of Hagerstown; one son, Jerry Smith Jr. of Hagerstown; six sisters, Shirley Catoe of Montclair, N.J., and Minnie Johnson, Helen Bowers, Marilyn Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Cathryn Smith, all of Hagerstown; three brothers, George Smith, Robert Smith and Edward Smith, all of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a friend, Barbara Laurent.
Services will be held Thursday at noon at Asbury United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Anthony Carr will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Victoria E. Itnyre
Victoria E. Itnyre, 83, of Paramount Terrace, Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at her home.
Born in Ringgold, July 30, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Nancy E. Creager Bell.
Her husband, Ronald L. Itnyre, died in 1995.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
She was a life member of Evangelical Lutheran Church Women.
She also was a member of Sunshine Leisure Club in Smithsburg, Ladies Auxiliary of Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown, Ladies Auxiliary Moose Club, P.E. Forerunners Club, AARP National Chapter, and AARP Hagerstown Chapter 623.
She is survived by one daughter, Valerie V. Itnyre of New York; two sisters, Janet E. Bumbaugh and Margaret J. Bell, both of Waynesboro, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.
The Rev. Carroll Boyer will officiate.
Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Winona M. Ridenour
Winona M. Ridenour, 95, of 224 Mealey Parkway, Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport.
Born Aug. 15, 1901, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Cornelia G. Loy Forman.
Her husband, Edward E. Ridenour, died in 1941.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Cynthia A. Fiedler of Hagerstown; one grandson, Edward E. Ridenour of Hagerstown; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Limmer as celebrant.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Henrietta M. Smith
BOONSBORO - Henrietta Mae Smith, 94, a resident of Reeders Memorial Home, and formerly of 136 Lakin Ave., Boonsboro, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at the home.
Born Aug. 13, 1902, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Clair Fultz and Nannie Showe Fultz.
Her husband, Benjamin Leo Smith, died in 1975.
She attended Shepherd College in Shepherdstown.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro, where she was a past member of the church council and a Sunday school teacher.
She was a charter member of Boonsboro Historical Society, member and past president of Boonsboro Homemaker's Club, a member of Washington County Homemaker's Club, a member and past president of Boonsboro Democratic Club and a member of Washington County Democratic Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Peg McCleaf of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Nancy A. Harris of Folson, Pa.; two sons, Benjamin J. Smith and William L. Smith, both of Boonsboro; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
The Rev. Joseph I. Donovan III will officiate.
Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Joseph C. Burger
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Joseph Charles Burger, 88, of 2463 Hoffman Road, died Monday, March 10, 1997, at Caledonia Manor Nursing Home in Fayetteville, Pa.
Born Jan. 14, 1909, in State Line, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Bertha M. Rhine Burger.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice May Jett Burger, and by his second wife, Martha Elizabeth Curry Burger.
He was employed with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 486 for 50 years.
He attended Blairs Valley First Church of God in Clear Spring.
He was a member of Moose Club in Johnstown, Pa.
He is survived by two sons, Charles S. Burger of Greencastle, and Donald J. Burger of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mary Margarite Burger Beard of Hagerstown, Dortha May Burger Burkett of State Line, Pa., and Ruth Viola Burger Barnhart of Greencastle; two brothers, Harry William Burger of Hagerstown and Raymond Leroy Burger of State Line; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Clara Irene Burger Spangler, Ellen Mary Burger, Fannie Louise Burger Poffenberger and Irella Elizabeth Burger Moats; and four brothers, Elmer Franklin Burger, Phares Daniel Burger, Louis Willison Burger and Lloyd Herman Burger.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Romaine S. Ely
QUINCY, Pa. - Romaine S. "Mamie" Ely, 84, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 13 Penn St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, March 10, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born March 16, 1912, in Fairfield, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Andrew L. and Mary Reid Lowe.
She attended Waynesboro schools.
Her husband, Lower D. Ely, died in 1986.
They were married June 1930.
She was employed by J.C. Penney in Waynesboro, working in various departments, and retiring in 1977 after 34 years of service.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, where she taught in the Junior Department of the Sunday school for a number of years.
She is survived by two sisters, M. Lucille Knupp of Waynesboro, and Martha J. Staley of King of Prussia, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Noel; and two brothers, Reid Lowe and Charles Lowe.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
The Rev. Richard A. Seaks will officiate.
Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
