Edith M. Mellott
MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Edith M. Mellott, 97, of Long Term Care, Fulton County Medical Center, and formerly of Needmore, Pa., died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at Fulton County Medical Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1899, in Needmore, she was the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Laura Rash Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Mellott, on June 20, 1976.
She was a homemaker.
She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, and served as a deaconess.
She is survived by two sons, Homer Mellott and Paul C. Mellott, both of Needmore; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Mellott; two sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Roger Traux officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be held today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Vaughna M. Zumbo
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Vaughna M. Zumbo, 97, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at her home.
Born Nov. 15, 1898, in Pisgee, Clay County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Burl and Osceola Osborne McComas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Zumbo.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Pierre of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Alma O'Dell and Beatrice Hamilton, both of Reno, Nev.; one brother, Quincy McComas of Reno; and one grandson.
Services and burial will be private.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
Curtis R. Purvis Jr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Curtis R. Purvis Jr., 69, of 53 W. South St., died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at his home.
Born June 14, 1927, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Curtis R. and Marion Norman Purvis Sr.
Before retiring in 1983, he was employed as a lead inspector by Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Chambersburg, where he was a member of the Men's Choir, and both regular church choirs.
He served as a church deacon.
He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and American Association of Retired Persons.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi M. Prieto Purvis, whom he married on June 29, 1951; three daughters, Angela M. Smith and Lilus K. Purvis, both of Chambersburg, and Carla R. DeJoie of New Orleans; three sisters, Alice M. Quivers, Helen J. Berry and Marion V. "Dotty" Purvis, all of Chambersburg; three brothers, Donald L. Purvis and Ralph A. Purvis, both of Chambersburg, and Eugene C. Purvis of Fayetteville, Pa.; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 230 Mt. Moriah St., Chambersburg.
The Rev. G. Nathan Bell and the Rev. John W. White will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Viewing will be Friday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Cancer Treatment Center, 260 N. Seventh St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Melvin R. Fraley
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Melvin R. Fraley, 53, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Aug. 5, 1943, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Melvin L. and Mary Boyer Fraley.
He is survived by two daughters, Robin Pittsnogle of Hagerstown and Anita Fraley of Florida; two sons, Randy Fraley and Melvin R. Fraley Jr., both of Hagerstown; six sisters, Thelma Stevens of Stanley, Va., Grace Myers and Hilda Jamison, both of Martinsburg, Lavinia Mason of Sharpsburg, Evelyn Williams of Crestwood, Ky., and Linda Kanfield of Keedysville; four brothers, Winifred L. Fraley of Boonsboro, Robert D. Fraley of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Calvin C. Fraley of Hagerstown and Theodore Fraley of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. William C. Crowe officiating.

Walter D. Isbell
HIGDEN, Ark. - Walter David Isbell, 79, of Higden, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at Baptist Medical Center in Heber Spring, Ark.
Born July 16, 1917, in Fields, La., he was the son of the late Walter D. and Annie Louise Justice Isbell.
He was a retired railroad car builder.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Webber Isbell of Higden; one daughter, Glenda Mae Steely of Higden; three sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Darryl C. Zoller will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Thomas W. Willis
Thomas Wesley Willis, 76, of 17738 Burnside Ave., Hagerstown, who died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, was of the Baptist faith.
Burrell J. Milburn
WILLIAMSPORT - Burrell Junior "Dick" Milburn, 65, of 14241 Falling Waters Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at his home.
Born Dec. 23, 1930, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Nathaniel Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Heil Milburn.
He was the stepson of Katherine Milburn of Smithsburg.
He was employed as a bus driver by American Coach, retiring in 1993.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club.
In addition to his stepmother, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela Jean Knipe of Martinsburg, W.Va., Marcella Kay Benner and Angelena Kaye Milburn, both of Hagerstown; three sons, David Michael Milburn of Bryans Road, Md., James Carroll Milburn of Houston and Steven Craig Milburn, serving with the U.S. Air Force in Germany; one brother, Cleveland A. "Pete" Millburn of Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; and friend Jean Semler.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
Pastor Don Smith will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral home will be open Thursday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Alma M. Hance
SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Alma M. "GG" Hance, 92, of Shenandoah Junction, died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, at her home.
Born Dec. 14, 1903, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary Huber.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Bantle, in 1992, and by her second husband, Robert Hance.
She was employed by the Warner-Chilcott Co., St. Louis.
She was a home companion for many people over the years.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She was a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Garden Club, Largo, Fla.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret C. Keller of Lillian, Ala.; a granddaughter with whom she resided, Mary Speck of Shenandoah Junction; granddaughter Theresa Brazner of Pasadena, Md.; three grandsons, Joseph Keller of Columbia, S.C., Thomas Keller of Middletown, Md., and James Keller of Edgewater, Md.; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters and one niece.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Hilda Bantle.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
