Lester E. Courtney
DELAND, Fla. - Lester E. Courtney, 82, of Jasmine-At-First Avenue, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, at his home.
Born in Cumberland, Md., he moved to the Deland area in 1956.
He was employed as an experimental jet driller in the textile industry.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Nan Lakin Seaman Courtney.

Lloyd H. Ritter Jr., 75, of 20025 Gilbert Hills Drive, Hagerstown, who died Monday, Nov. 11, 1996, is survived by a sister, Jeanne Kramer of New Windsor, Minn.
Earl C. Townsend Sr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Earl C. Townsend Sr., 64, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born March 27, 1932, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Carl Townsend and Myrtle Butts Townsend Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mann Townsend.
He was employed by Randy Mix Cement as a truck driver for 19 years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda D. Starliper and Cindy E. Cook, both of Martinsburg, Sharon l. Henry of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Earleen C. Lambert of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three sons, Marvin W. Knipe and Earl C. Townsend Jr., both of Martinsburg, and Ronald L. Townsend of Inwwod, W.Va.; two sisters, Pearl V. Hess and Anna L. Albert, both of Martinsburg; one brother, Carl W. Townsend II of Martinsburg; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg with the Rev. John D. Yost officiating.
Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Kimberly J. Fritz
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Kimberly J. Fritz, 36, of 9537 Circle Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at her home.
Born March 10, 1960, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Joe E. and Phyllis M. Etter Haas.
She was a 1978 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.
She was employed as a benefits secretary in the Human Resource Department of Chambersburg Hospital for six years.
She earlier worked for several years at the Chambersburg Mall branch of Citizen's National Bank, Greencastle, Pa.
She was a member of Zion Reformed Church, Chambersburg.
She also was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1128, Chambersburg; and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Chambersburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Tara J. Fritz, at home; one son, Austin P. Fritz of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Jennifer K. Sipes of Chambersburg; her spousal equivalent, Todd A. Gladfelter; aunts and uncles and one nephew.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
The Rev. Kenneth L. Carlson will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Viewing will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Julia M. Lucas
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Julia Marie Lucas, 62, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Sept. 2, 1934, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Richard and Blanch Montgomery Butts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Lucas, in December, 1966.
She was a 1952 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
She was employed as a nursing assistant by Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, retiring after 19 years of service.
She was a member of Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of Eastern Star and Chapter 738, Women of the Moose.
She is survived by two sons, Keith Dwayne Lucas of Manassas, Va., and Kevin Dane Lucas of Martinsburg; two brothers, Boyd Butts of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Charles Butts of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dora Lee Grimes; and two brothers, William Butts and David Butts.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hedgesville Cemetery with Pastor Floyd E. Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Andrew W. Clingerman
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Andrew Wayne Clingerman, infant son of Misty Dawn Clingerman and Thomas Richard Miller, both of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Forrest Logan Miller; paternal grandparents, George and Wilda Miller of Berkeley Springs; aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald Wayne and Bonnie Lou Athey Clingerman; and maternal great-grandparents, Carl and Fannie Athey Hiett.
Graveside services were held today at 11 a.m. at Enon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Largent, W.Va. The Rev. Darrell W. Waller officiated.

HIALEAH, Fla. - Ruth Crosswhite Hunt, 72, of Hialeah, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at the Hospice Unit in Miami.
She was the daughter of the late John and Pearl Crosswhite.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Sue Cardenas of Miami; three sisters, Hazel Lantz and Onieta Crosswhite, both of Hagerstown, and Muriel Frazier of Missouri; one brother, Frank Crosswhite of Hagerstown; and one granddaughter.
Her remains will be cremated in Florida.
Dorothy M. Fahnestock
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy M. Fahnestock, 80, of 827 S. Fourth St., died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, at her home.
Born March 14, 1916, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Fannie Myers Jones.
She was employed as a clerk by Bon-Ton at Chambersburg Mall until her retirement in 1988. For 16 years, she and her husband operated the former Fahnestock Brothers Hardware on South Third Street, Chambersburg. Earlier, she had been employed as a cashier at the former W.T. Grants at Norland Shopping Center, Chambersburg.
She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Oliver G. Fahnestock; one daughter, Shirley May Shoop of Chambersburg; one son, Johnathan Leroy Fahnestock of Jacksonville, Tenn.; two sisters, Gladys Eshelman and Betty Patterson, both of Chambersburg; one brother, Nelson Jones of Chambersburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Elmer T. Kipe will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Viewing will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
