Marion T. Roane

Marion T. Roane, 91, of 424 N. Prospect St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Williamsport Nursing Home.

Born March 24, 1905, in Corry, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Margaret Sweeney Gack.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arden E. Roane, in 1962.

She was employed by the W. H. Reisner Manufacturing Co. for 47 years, retiring at the age of 78.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Roane of Hagerstown and Robert Z. Roane Sr. of Smithsburg; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown.

The Rev. George Limmer will be celebrant.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Prayers will be offered at 6:45 p.m.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Elmer L. Gregory Jr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Elmer L. Gregory Jr., 60, formerly of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Point Pleasant Hospital, Point Pleasant, W.Va.

Born Sept. 4, 1936, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Elmer L. and Mabel Paige Stokes Gregory Sr.

He is survived by two sisters, Loretta Tharp and Shirley Gregory, both of Martinsburg, and one brother, Curtis Gregory of Pikeside, W.Va.

Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

The Rev. Johnny Kelley will officiate.

Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Frank E. Bell

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Frank E. Bell, 83, of 6988 Tippetts Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Dec. 29, 1912, in White Plains, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frank E. and Elizabeth Yard Bell Sr.

He was educated as a teacher and coach at Princeton University and The University of Illinois, where he played varsity football under coach Bob Zuppke.

He came to Mercersburg in 1963 as a faculty member of the Mercersburg Academy and taught math until his retirement in 1980.

He was a three-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

He was honorably discharged as a lieutenant commander.

He was an associate member of the Presbyterian Church of Mercersburg.

He was a member of the Rotary Club; Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517; Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and the board of directors of Meals On Wheels, all of Mercersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemund Purdy Bell, whom he married July 7, 1945; one daughter, Elizabeth L. Bell of Southbury, Conn.; two sons, Frank E. Bell III of Santa Maria, Calif., and Charles E. Bell of Lakeville, Conn.; one sister, Elizabeth DeWitt of Woodstock, N.Y., and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Mercersburg.

The Rev. Michael K. Miller and the Rev. Paul Galey will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church, c/o Donald Johnston, 34 W. Seminary St., Mercersburg, Pa. 17236, to Mercersburg Academy, c/o director of development, Mercersburg, or to Princeton University, Princeton, N.J.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.

Alice L. B. Niner

Alice Louise Boteler Niner, 81, of 19607 Foxcroft Circle, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1996, at her home.

Born April 28, 1915, in Weaverton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert Edward and Hannah Elizabeth West Boteler.

She was a 1933 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her husband, John Henry Niner; one daughter, Linda Jane Niner Pohl of Knoxville, Md.; one son, John Larry Niner of Ringold, Md.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Maeholder.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. John E. Grimm officiating.

Burial will be in St. Luke's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2150 Boteler Road, Brownsville, Md. 21715, or to Lutheran Home Care Services, Franklin City Office, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Alice M. F. Bloyer

FORT LITTLETON, Pa. - Alice M. Flaugher Bloyer, 65, of the Leisure Living Retirement Center, and formerly of the Waynesboro, Pa., and Cascade areas, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at the nursing home.

Born Dec. 21, 1931, in Cascade, she was the daughter of the late Martin W. and Beulah M. Willard Flaugher.

In the late 1950s she was employed as a waitress at the Famous Texas Lunch, now the John Wallace Kitchen, Waynesboro.

She attended the Open Door Church, Chambersburg, Pa.

She was a member of AARP, Chambersburg chapter.

She is survived by one son, Darrell Bloyer of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Carolyn Lynch of Lafayette, N.J., and Janet Thompson of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Charles Flaugher of Orlando, Fla. and Doug Flaugher of Rouzerville, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her companion, Earl Deardorff, and two brothers, William Flaugher and Richard Flaugher.

Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Pastor Arthur E. Brown will officiate.

Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Stella L. Helmick

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Stella Louise "Lynn" Helmick, 53, of 1167 Anthony Highway, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 15, 1943, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Otis R. and Nellie M. McKee Stottlemyer.

She was the stepdaughter of Helen M. Stottlemyer of Winchester, Va.

She spent her early life in Winchester.

She was a 1961 graduate of Handley High School.

She had been employed by Frick Co. and James Shoes as a salesperson, both of Waynesboro, Pa.

For the past 20 years, she had been employed by Chambersburg Hospital in public relations.

She was a past member of the Ringgold Church of Christ, Ringgold, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years.

She then became a member of Corner Stone Church of Christ, Chambersburg, and the Adult Sunday School Class of the church.

She served as treasurer of the finance committee and was the church clerk.

In addition to her stepmother, she is survived by her husband, Donald E. Helmick, whom she married June 22, 1962; one daughter, Pamela S. Felix of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Donald Keith Helmick and Richie D. Helmick, both of Chambersburg; one sister, Dorothy M. Lineberg of Winchester; one brother, Norman A. Stottlemyer of Lancaster, Pa.; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Felix, and one brother, Otis R. Stottlemyer.

Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Ringgold Church of Christ, with Pastor Jerry O. Timbrook, Minister Bryan Bailey and Pastor Donald Conley officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Flodia R. S. Hitt

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Flodia Romine Smith Hitt, 100, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at City Hospital.

Born Sept. 26, 1896, in Lewis County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Aura Oldaker Romine.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dess Smith, and her second husband, Carson Hitt.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jane Lew, W.Va.

She also was a member of the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Hackers Creek Pioneers Descendants, Jane Lew; and Good Hope Chapter 109, Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Olive Smith Bell and Billie Smith McKinney, both of Martinsburg; three grandchildren, Richard Bell, Kent McKinney and Linda Bell Brown; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home, Jane Lew.

The Rev. Ronald C. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Friendship I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Lewis County, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at Morris Funeral Home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
