MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Anna Marion Schleuss, 84, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.
The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be private.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gilmer L. "Marty" Martin, 68, of 1088 Hamilton Drive, died Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Pa.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Thelma P. Swadley
Thelma Pauline Swadley, 78, of 17607 Woodlawn Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 19, 1918, in Lost River, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Jackson and Cora Ann Dellinger Teets.
She was employed as a district supervisor by Harry Footer Dry Cleaning Co. and Montgomery Ward.
She was a 50-year member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clear Spring.
She was a charter member and former secretary of Wacohu Grange and served as secretary-treasurer of Washington County Pomona Grange, the Maryland State Grange, the National Grange and AARP.
She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, John O. Swadley; one daughter, Marjorie A. Gossard of Williamsport; one sister, Gladys Welch of Stephens City, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Juanita Bryan; and one grandson, John Patrick Bryan.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Church, 13746 National Pike, Clear Spring.
The Rev. Thomas Perry and the Rev. Mary Amundson will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Clear Spring.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
The funeral home will be open today after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
There will be a special memorial service today at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Maryland State Grange.

Clarice Bailey
Clarice Bailey, 70, of 15606 National Pike, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1926, in Big Pool, she was the daughter of the late Della McLucas Talbert of Hagerstown and the late Thomas G. Smedley.
She was a retired employee of Arnold's Interiors.
She had been a supervisor at London Fog, Hancock and Boonsboro.
After her retirement, she was active in the design and preparation of quilts and Afghans.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, and was active with the church Turnover Shop and Meals on Wheels.
She also was a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 159, Chincoteague, Va.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Pat Kauffman of Hagerstown; one son, Edward E. "Gump" Slick Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Hilda Marks and Thomasine Kovaleski, both of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

John E. Johnson
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - John Earl Johnson, 70, of 6667 Slabtown Road, died Tuesday, March, 18, 1997, at Kissimmee Memorial Hospital, Kissimmee, Fla.
Born Dec. 20, 1926, in Allison Park, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel Johnson Johnson.
He was employed as an engine assembler and packer by Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, until his retirement in 1987, after 25 years of service.
He was a charter member of Central Baptist Chapel, Mont Alto, Pa., where he served as past treasurer, trustee and usher.
He was a member of the National AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Louise Burr Johnson, whom he married Aug. 7, 1948; three daughters, Shirley M. Johnson of Waynesboro, Susan L. Smetzer of Quincy, Pa., and Patty J. Morganthal of St. Cloud, Fla.; three sons, Larry J. Johnson of Waynesboro, Edward L. Johnson of Greencastle, Pa., and James D. Johnson of St. Cloud; one sister, Dorothy Henke of Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother, George S. Johnson of Fort Bragg, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert L. Johnson, in 1971.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor R. W. Skidmore will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.

Nancy M. Johnson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Nancy M. Johnson, 68, of 907 Park Circle West, and formerly of McKeesport, Pa., died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born Feb. 1, 1929, in Mc-Keesport, she was the daughter of Mary E. Sigley Morrison of Fayetteville, Pa., and the late Lloyd L. Morrison.
She was a 1946 graduate of Mc-Keesport High School.
She was employed by Equibank, McKeesport, until her retirement.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Chambersburg. She was a former member, secretary and volunteer at the Coulter Road Baptist Church, Coulter, Pa., from 1977 to 1984.
She was a listener for the Bible Release Program at the King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg, for two years.
She was a member of the Institute for Retired Persons, Chambersburg, and Falling Spring Chapter 2840, AARP, Chambersburg.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Russell H. Johnson; one daughter, Peggy Karap of Hagerstown; one son, Timothy H. Johnson of White Oak, Pa.; one sister, June E. Fiddler of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

Anna E. S. Whisler
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Anna Evelyn Swisher Whisler, 90, of Piney Mountain Home, and formerly of 33 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at the home.
Born Oct. 25, 1906, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Coral Mae Reigle Swisher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph B. Whisler, on April 19, 1954.
They were married in April 1929.
She was a 1925 graduate of Central High School, Harrisburg.
She was employed by Fort Ritchie in the engineering department during World War II.
She was a secretary for Louis Barlup at Waynesboro High School.
Prior to retiring in September, 1969, she was an occupational therapist at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa.
She was a member of Waynesboro Presbyterian Church.
She also was a member of the Waynesboro Business and Professional Women, where she held various offices; a member of BPO Elks Lodge 731 Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro; Friends of Renfrew; AARP Chapter 739, Waynesboro; the National AARP; and Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary.
She volunteered for various organizations in the area, including the Girl Scouts.
She is survived by one son, Anthony W. B. Whisler of Ferguson, Mo.; one brother, Franklin M. L. Swisher of Dover, N.H.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Maxine Hoke, on Oct. 17, 1996.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
