FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Melchior J. "Mel" Cross, 77, of 211 Joyce Drive, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at his home.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 44 E. Main St., Fayetteville.
The Rev. David L. Hefner will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Joseph G. Farrie
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Joseph G. Farrie, 64, of Route 1, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 1, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Mike and Opal Delosier Farrie.
He was a mutuel clerk at Charles Town Races.
He is survived by his wife, Margie A. Manor Farrie; four daughters, Cinde Davis and Kelly Barker, both of Herndon, Va., Susan Michelle Farrie of Charles Town, W.Va., and Toni Stewart of Manassas, Va.; one son, Joel S. Farrie of Rockville; one sister, Sue Rudisill of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services and burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Agnes M. Burkett
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Agnes May Burkett, 74, of Route 3, Box 50-T, and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, March 21, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born April 11, 1922, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Cora Skiles Mosser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover F. Burkett, on Nov. 23, 1977.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church, Greencastle, and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
She also was a member of the Women's Missionary Society of the church.
She was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Women's Fellowship.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra "Debbie" Merchant of Martinsburg; one sister, Keturah Drake of Newark, Del.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Newton Mosser.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle.
The Rev. Gayle Ruble Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church Cemetery, Coseytown, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.
The family also will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Anna J. Fletcher
LITTLE ORLEANS, Md. - Anna Jane Fletcher, 68, of Price Road, N.E., died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Hospice Unit, Cumberland, Md.
Born July 25, 1928, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Albert and Anna Jane Piper Hollenbaugh.
She was employed by London Fog, Hancock, for 17 years.
She was a member of Price Weslyan Memorial Church, Little Orleans.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Allan Fletcher; four daughters, Alice Turner and Carol Riggleman, both of Little Orleans, Penny Powell and Beverly Moyer, both of Artemas, Pa.; one son, Roy Fletcher of Little Orleans; one sister, Helen Rankin of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one brother, Harry Hollenbaugh of Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Pheobe Norris; and six brothers, Samuel Hollenbaugh, John Hollenbaugh, Charles Hollenbaugh, Roy Hollenbaugh, George Hollenbaugh and Billy Hollenbaugh.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock.
The Rev. Daryl McClain will officiate.
Burial will be in Price Weslyan Memorial Cemetery, Little Orleans.

John W. Warfield
LARGENT, W.Va. - John William Warfield, 76, of Largent, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at his home.
Born May 10, 1920, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John William and May Glefield Warfield.
He was a 1938 graduate of Ellicott City High School, Ellicott City, Md.
He was employed as a motor fleet manager by the U.S. Postal Service from 1959 until July 1975.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from December 1938 until July 1958.
He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of AARP; Fleet Reserve, Branch 024, Annapolis; and Harley-Bohrer American Legion Post 128, Paw Paw, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Elnora Cavey Warfield; two daughters, Linda K. Schenker of Largent and Edie M. Bresley of Winchester, Va.; one son, Robert E. Warfield of Jamestown, N.Y.; one half sister, Florence Sherman of New York City; half brothers, James St. John of Camden, Maine, and Joseph St. John of Concord, N.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, John W. "Jack" Warfield Jr. in 1996.
Services and burial will be private.

BOONSBORO - Edna Lenora Hull, 97, of Reeders Memorial Home, and formerly of 19838 Jefferson Blvd., Hagerstown, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Jan. 6, 1900, in Benevola, she was the daughter of the late Upton Sheridan and Sadie Florence Poffenberger Sinnisen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Charles Hull, in 1935.
She was a seamstress for Hagerstown Shoe Co. until her retirement.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She also was a member of Olive Branch Chapter 34, Order of the Eastern Star, Keedysville.
She is survived by one daughter, Joan Potts of Seminole, Fla.; one sister, Virginia L. Muritz of Boonsboro; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Hull; one son, R. Charles Hull Jr.; two sisters; and two brothers.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Constance M. Stottlemyer, 73, of Myersville, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at her home.
Born Feb. 23, 1924, in Elizabeth, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Anna M. Smith Hoover Sr.
She was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
She is survived by her husband, George M. Stottlemyer; one daughter, Crystal A. Vandercook of Frederick, Md.; one son, Brent M. Stottlemyer of Myersville; one brother, Charles "Bud" Hoover Jr. of Myersville; one granddaughter; a special nephew, Jan Sundstrum of Frankford, Del., and a special friend, Barbara Morrison of Myersville.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Sundstrum.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren.
The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin and the Rev. David C. Dawson will officiate.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Heaston A. Howell
HANCOCK - Heaston A. "Red" Howell, 80, of National Pike, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Dec. 10, 1916, in Huff, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harrison Benjamin and Arie Mae Cutlip Howell.
He owned and operated Red's Fruit Stand near Hancock for 18 years.
He also was a contractor's carpenter.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a 50-year member of the Carpenters Union, Cumberland, Md.
He is survived by his wife whom he married March 13, 1939, Maxine Helen Edwards Howell; two daughters, Leona Mae Goedde of Leigh Acres, Fla., and Debra Ann Hott of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sons, Elwood Arlo Howell and Roger Lee Howell, both of Hancock, and Elwood Jason Howell; two sisters, Greathel I. Crabtree of Phoenix and Eulah S. Schrader of Erie, Pa.; two brothers, Sceabert A. Howell of Harrisonville, Pa., and Hensler C. Howell of Phoenix; seven half-sisters, Goldie Cool of Diana, W.Va., Dora Howell of North Carolina, Lucille Peck, Norma Chaney, Rosalie Johnson, Bernice Morfinski and Ruby Howell, all of Erie; seven half-brothers, Arden Howell of Union City, Pa., Jerry Howell, Tobias Howell, Carl Howell and Randy Howell, all of Erie, Christopher Howell and Terry Howell, both of Pickens, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
