Eunice M. Hostetter
Eunice M. Hostetter, 49, of 20530 Millers Church Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at her home.
Born Dec. 15, 1947, in Washington County, she was the daughter of Amos I. and Ethel S. Martin Hostetter of Hagerstown.
She was a member of Miller's Mennonite Church, Leitersburg.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by four sisters, Janet Eby of Flintstone, Md., Esther Martin of Lumban, Philippines, Doris Martin of Hagerstown and Dorothy Rudolph of Manchester, Ky.; one brother, Nelson Hostetter of Hagerstown; 25 nieces and nephews; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Millers Mennonite Church.
The Millers Mennonite Church Ministry will officiate.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Minnie M. Vidas
Minnie Marie Vidas, 84, of Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at her home.
Born Oct. 30, 1912, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Roach Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband Urban Mario "Joe" Vidas in 1980.
She attended Robinwood Church of God, Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Presgraves and Silvia Vidas, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Vince Vidas and Anthony Vidas, both of Hagerstown; several sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services and burial will be private in Rose Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to YMCA, 149 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Floyd E. Arnold
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Floyd E. Arnold, 88, formerly of 14109 Buchanan Trail West, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at ManorCare Health Care Services, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born March 8, 1909, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late L.B. and Mary Pike Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Angle Arnold on Jan. 24, 1997.
He was a dairy farmer in the Mercersburg, Fort Loudon and Greencastle, Pa., areas.
He retired from farming in 1970.
He later worked in security at Chambersburg Hospital.
He was a member of Ebenezer United Brethren Church, Greencastle.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty A. Bridendolph of Mercersburg; one sister, Marie A. Statler of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, Barbara L. Bridendolph of Mercersburg; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.
The Rev. Garry L. Culler will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Irene E. Osborne
Irene Elizabeth Osborne, 87, of 507 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at Clearview Nursing Home.
Born March 22, 1909, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Albert and Elizabeth Frances Grubbs Carper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Osborne, on Dec. 29, 1994.
She was employed by Hagerstown Hosiery Co. and Reisner Manufacturing Co.
She attended Christ Lutheran Church.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Frances Smith of Hagerstown; one son, Harry Edwin Osborne III of Williamsport; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery.
The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate.

Clarence R. Cordell Jr.
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Clarence R. Cordell Jr., 68, of 2293 Lindsay Lot Road, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born April 25, 1928, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence R. and Mary Robinson Cordell Sr.
He was employed as an auto body technician at Chester Neil Garage of Shippensburg for 18 years; the former WLS Motors of Carlisle, Pa.; the former Elliot Motors, Inc. of Carlisle; and B&B Garage of Shippensburg. He retired in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married May 19, 1947, Esther Clever Cordell; one daughter, Victoria Kutz of Carlisle; two sisters, Vada Kessell of Chambersburg and Esther Zeger of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Dwight Cordell of Union Grove, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Cordell, in 1949.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.
The Rev. Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Punch Bowl Road, Mercersburg.

Alma M. Ross
SMITHSBURG - Alma M. Ross, 79, of Bikle Road, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 10, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Benton and Martha Elizabeth Ferguson Reese.
She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education and the Washington County Association for Retarded Citizens.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg, the Wednesday Circle and Mary and Martha Sunday School Class.
She was a past supreme representative of Grand Temple Pythian Sisters of Maryland; the last charter member of Loyal Temple 27, Smithsburg; past noble grand of Friendship Lodge 8 of the Rebekah; past president of E.L.C.A. Lutheran Church Women; past president of Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary; past board member of Washington County Association for Retarded Citizens; Chewsville Lioness Club; Ladies Auxiliary Cascade American Legion; member of Sunshine Leisure Club, Smithsburg; Leitersburg Senior Citizens; and National and State AARP. She was a volunteer with the Bloodmobile, Washington County Chapter of American Red Cross for 22 years.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles H. Ross; four daughters, Norma Jean Ross of Hagerstown, Patricia M. Smith and Elizabeth L. "Betsy" Martin, both of Smithsburg and Paula Kay Hershberger of Lewistown, Pa.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 N. Main St., Smithsburg.
The Rev. R. Carl Myers will officiate.
Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
A memorial service conducted by Pythian Sisters will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Judith M. G. Williams
Judith Marie Grant Williams, 75, of 108 Harvard Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1922, in Cresaptown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Genevieve McDonald Grant.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She was a volunteer at Western Maryland Center Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Francis "Bud" Williams; one sister, Mary "Dottie" Hayes of Hagerstown; two nieces and one great niece.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Bodkin, and two brothers, Allen Grant and Charles Grant.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 226 W. Washington St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. George A. Limmer will be celebrant.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Mary E.P. Houpt
QUINCY, Pa. - Mary Ellen Provard Houpt, 77, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 332 Nova Drive, Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at the home.
Born Sept. 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah D. and Anna M. Beard Provard.
She lived her early life in the Montgomery Township area.
She was a seamstress for many years with Mercersburg Shirt Factory and Asba Manufacturing.
She also was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included genealogy and writing poetry.
In the early 1950s she wrote articles for the Echo Pilot newspaper in Greencastle.
She was a member of Mercersburg Presbyterian Church.
She also was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Houpt, whom she married April 10, 1935; five daughters, Amy Rice, Gay Buchanan, Nancy Van Deuren, Betty Anderson and Pam Clay, all of Greencastle; five sons, James Houpt, Jr. of Port Orange, Fla., David Houpt of Seeheim, Germany, Robert Houpt of Falling Waters, W.Va., Jerry Houpt and Tom Houpt, both of Greencastle; two sisters, Irene Brumage of Hagerstown and Thelma Stevens of Mercersburg; one brother, Jerry Provard of Greencastle; 30 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mercersburg Presbyterian Church, 34 W. Seminary, Mercersburg.
The Rev. William D. Kauffman and the Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, today from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
There will be no public viewing.
